I've probably said this before. Everytime I watch your videos I get transported to my childhood watching these machines in amazement. Thank you for the trip back in time!
Still the best looking rope excavator out there and still capable of doing a decent days work, these machines helped built the first motorway in the UK, the M1, back in 62-66, some are still in use too, we have 2 on the Somerset levels, dredging the silt, and still make an awesome sight, together with the spooky squeaking and groaning sounds across the Moors..
@@73DiamondReo i did not, but i plan to head down to the rally grounds once it drys out and film it. Both the J15 and the 10rb there have a funky way of starting them. Shovel was fun, much better once i played around with the trap door to get it to close by its self. I need to work on the dipper clutch. I feel you could load a truck faster than a modern excarvator if both machines were in good health

@@73DiamondReo Thank you so much. I find it so interesting. The foot work with brakes. The lever pushing and pulling. The older early tec. On those cable controls. People just don't understand the arm muscles must have been strained after a day of digging. Thank you for restoration on all your neat stuff. The dump truck looks fine. What transmission does she have.
awesome. footage looks great. i gotta admit though i thought the audio was screwed up or the shovel had the strangest sounding diesel iv ever heard when you first fired it up..... then i realized it was the starting engine i was hearing...lol
You run that thing just as smooth and fast as any hydraulic machine. If a "line" breaks on that thing might take you a while to rethread things but you're not putting oil all over the ground.
Too cool! I definitely am taking a liking to the old machines. I'll have to see if the have a similar show in my area like what you have at the Pike Steam show.
The D311 in my Insley has the controls for starting engine toward the front of the Diesel engine to facilitate starting from inside which is kind of nice. I’ll try to remember to show that on the 30th during our play day at Baraboo. I hope the man with the Link-Belt gets back to me, I need a shovel!!!!!!

Great bit of work there Frank. I see you were having trouble getting her to walk, were the clutches slipping? That seemed to be my problem on the 22RB. I was told to use vinegar to make them grip better, but it end up doing the opposite. I may have done it wrong and needed to let it dry out completely before trying to engage the clutches.. In the end I had to stril it all down and clean everything with petrol, pressure cleaner and a wire wheel. Anyways all the best from Emerald Queensland Australia
