Power with the 15! If you are gonna go 15, I suggest core strengthening at home regularly. Core strengthening is always a + Also, the worst vice is advice, so who am I to say?? I just wanna be supportive 😊 Also, you are 🔥
On this particular outing, the 15lb ball had a better shape, especially on the backend. Other than the couple of shots you got inside of target, the entry angle created with the 15lb ball was much better than the 14lb ball. I would try this challenge once again, but this time start with the 14lb ball. Switching to the 14 after throwing the 15 for a full game probably made the 14lb ball feel light for at least a few frames. You may have inadvertently been muscling the 14lb ball, instead of letting the ball do the work. Whether or not to change to 15lbs is hard to say with watching just one game. On appearances alone, it looks like you could handle it physically. I would also say this one game should give evidence that some serious thought of switching to 15lbs should be on the agenda in the near future. Again, after throwing a few more games to get more data/experience (with the heavier ball). On a side note, I really like the ball shape you are creating in your last couple of videos.
I was 19 when I went up from 14 to 15#. Put a little more strain at first, but the simple science of mass times acceleration gave me better carry, especially when the oil pattern was set to fish fry
Bella have the ball manufacturer give you the chart on the hitting power difference between 14lbs and 15lbs ball at different speeds. Although it’s only 16oz more difference it’s exponentially more powerful than the 14lbs ball. You nailed it, 15lbs will have less deflection and track through the pins. Use what you can control and feel while you develop your game, soon the 15lbs will become comfortable 😊. Great bowling.
That was quirky, love it when you're mic'd up, your commentary on the fly is great👍 That was a sneaky pin from behind at 6:20. The 15 lb gives a pins alot of pop, and that was fun to watch.
Great video Bell’s. The most difference ur gonna see between the two is the reaction to dry and carry through the pocket. 14 will react harder/sharper to dry and deflect a bit more. 15 will shim a little more and not deflect as much. You know ur game better than anyone. If you feel your ball over hooks to dry and leaves you 3-6-10 a lot then 15 should help with that. Just remember it’s all about comfort. Make the switch when UR comfortable with 15lbs. Luv ya lots. Take care.
I personally thought the 15lb was better for you. You might have to wait until you get stronger to use it in a tournament. Maybe try the 15lb ball in league and see how you feel. You are great no matter which ball you use. 😁
Going up a weight can be beneficial as the higher weight caries through, so you dont have to be so accurate in the pocket. I started with a 14, and when i went up to 15, my game improved.
With youth on your side, I would go with the 15. I used 16 until I was around 40 years old. Then switched to 15. At 50 was when I went to 14. During tournament play, the weight difference may become a factor. You are young and strong enough to handle 15 lbs. without much issue. Whatever you choose, you have the ability and smarts to make it work. Good luck and continued success with your bowling and channel. You are so much fun to watch!
Bella Love Castillo, I enjoyed the Vlog Video that you upload on RU-vid on both the 15Ibs and 14Ibs Bowling Balls that you use. Also, I like the 15 Pound Bowling Ball that you use in the 1st game. Also, You are a talented Bowler.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐
The video you posted yesterday thank you so much for your guidance and help because I had a awesome day today I have bold my very first 212 and I’ve now won 200 badge and I have now won a 500 series badge. So thank you very deeply for your guidance on how to get a good score on your videos
Bella, I enjoyed watching this, however You left out some important things, such as top, finger, side and even axes weight and cover stock of each bowling ball, something your average reader's wouldn't even think about this. I have done this many times even in compation. Ball speed and rotation can make a whole lot of difference when going from 15 lbs. to 14 lbs. Keep in mind Dear had You started with the 14 then to the 15, I myself believe You wouldn't of had the score You had with the 15....😁😂
I have had experience throwing both. I am a one hander so speed isnt the issue. Its really hard to keep speed lower with a 14lbs compared to the 15lbs where i can play anything i need. 15lbs also gets out the 10s and we saw 😂😂
Fifteen pound balls aren't bowling. I dominated the mini-juniors in NYC because I was the only kid who could throw a 16-pound ball (at age 12). Once she can handle a 16-pound ball she'll likely be PBA-ready but she might drop 20-25 pins before the quantum leap. It's almost impossible to get where she wants to go with a lighter ball; no point in delaying the inevitable one-time adjustment to the higher weight.
Seems like you have no problem handling the 15, and the carry was WAY better. Not sure why, but it seemed to find the pocket better than the 14 - maybe because you didn't need quite as much angle or as flush a hit, so you tried to get more with the 14 and it overreacted. Good luck!
I'm thinking you could use a square ball, flat, and it wouldn't matter, results would be same, 10 strikes in a row! Have a great day Bella and her Papa....
I throw 15 and 16 lb and I buy a lot of second-hand bowling balls I like the 16 lb it carries through the pins better and the 15 lb is a lot more available than the 16 and that is why I have both but I prefer the 16 lb
I never thought that the weight of the bowling ball would make such a big difference in terms of scoring 😧Whenever I go bowling, I always use either the 10 or 11 lb balls cause I just feel the most comfortable throwing those. I can't handle a 14 or 15 at all 😅
I don’t know anything about bowling so I can’t help you with your decision. You do you Bella and i am certain you will make the right decision at the right time.
I thought the way you pick the weight of the ball you use is how fast/MPH you can constantly throw the revving hook ball? if that is RIGHT then 15lb balls is the RIGHT weight for you. the men's PBA Pro-bowlers throw there ball between 17 to 20 MPH. The Duke throws a 16 lb ball at 20 MPH. the AVG MPH a man PBA pro-bowler throws the ball at 18 MPH. you have ZERO problem throwing the 15lb ball at over 17 MPH so this PROVES you should be throwing at least a 15lb ball. I bowl on two 45 or older senior leagues: its really hard for these senior to throw a 8 to 10 lb ball 7 to 9 MPH. that has been my problem since I have been bowling. I throw at 10 to 14 MPH with a 12lb ball & now I started a 14lb ball. right now I have the high league AVG of 168 & like 3rd high on the other league at 178. I started this league with the high avg at 190 my first 3 games or a 570 series then I went down for 5 weeks. so said screw that & changed things to a 2 hand release. now my avg went back up the last 2 week to where it is now a 178 avg. I stopped bowling in April of 2007 with a 187 avg & sold my bowling stuff & bowling balls like 60 balls. then I made $48k in the stock market & bought a lot of bowling stuff & got back to bowling in April of 2021 so I have been back for 3 years now & I just bowled a 605 as my high series since I been back two weeks ago. my live long high series is a 686 & high game is a 299, had the front 11 then I chocked! really the ONLY reason I got that 299 was because the lanes changed to the way I was throwing the ball. it was my 18th game when I was bowling another person in 2005. me & the other person went every Sunday in the summer from May to Aug & we bowled 30 games each every Sunday because it is FREE in the summer. I was using the Rainbow 12lb ball I bought from Meijer's. I bowl for the exercise & to get better I hope. I bowled 50 games every day they were open last summer for 102 straight games as high games in a row & 3,550 open games plus 3 league games a week. I bowled in NO-TAP 9 for open games. then at end of summer I started bowling in NO-TAP 7. THE reason anyone bowls in NO-TAP whatever is to practice more on the strike ball over spare balls. with me I throw a straight ball for most spares any how so it makes NO since to waste my time on the 7 or 10 pin or whatever pin or pins. another wards I have 2 totally different balls I throw & now that I changed to the 2 hand release both my strike ball & my straight ball are way, WAY different. my straight ball is with my thumb in the ball & I have my left leg as my back leg to start then at foul line my right leg as my front foot to STOP with my thumb pointing to the pin to hit. the two hand release I have my left leg in front at the start & my fingers point towards the right gutter in an almost all end over end throw with NO thumb with my right foot at the foul line to STOP. I throw right hand & stop on my right foot. the reason anyone swings there right leg around is to get your leg out of the way & to get hand position so either way left or right foot in front you will be on 1 leg/foot at the foul line any how. I NEVER twist away from the target or pins that always seemed SILLY to me. twist away from target takes away MPH! in terms of KARATE self defense that bowler twist at the foul line is a half wheel kick. a real wheel kick is point a back to point a or a full wheel!
