Fantastic germans hords ! Like all this unique figures like the witchs and the combinaison of several brands . All my best wishes for this year 2022 , Robert .
Very nice collection! I have some questions in regards to your basing. Can you tell me the frontage and depth for the bases you used for your Successor armies please? Also are your figures based for any sort of rules?
Hi Nordic! Yes of course. I mount all of my ancients and medievals on 80mm frontage. (2 x normal 40mm) that was always the convention. I just decided to make my units like mini moving trays. 80mm frontage and either 40mm or 60mm depth for some room to add shrubs rocks etc. I put 2of these together in depth for the pikes. Cavalry is on 80mm x60mm as well. Bases I buy now are from Litko in the USA. I moved away from mdf. They started to warp. Now it’s wood. You can use any set of rules really. I play hail Caesar. Sometimes Armati. But two the strongest works well, impetus etc. Hope that helps. I just wanted to have more moveable unit trays. Old school was to base everything so close and on tiny trays. Why. ? No clue.
I just recently rebased this army, but was inspired, of course by the movie gladiator. When I put them on the table top it kind of looks a little bit like that.
Really enjoy looking at your armies. I take it they are sort of based on the “impetus” rules. May I ask do you use a rough set of figures for each unit type? G
Hi Grahame, Actually I play hail Caesar, Armati and impetus. I found that it did not really matter how many figures you had on your bases but moreover the base size, and that your armies were mounted similar. Basing follows the ancient and medieval convention of 40 mm frontage. But most of our units are always for stands or greater. Which means always an 80 mm front. I just started basing on 80 mm frontage. It also allowed me to make mini dioramas and kept the figures from breaking so much through handling
My stands don’t have a set number of figures per base but I just create some thing that looks interesting and fun for me. I’ve only had one person count the number of figures on the gaming table and complain. We no longer game🤣🤣🤣
Many thanks for your reply. I have taken the plunge and purchased some impetus size bases as your armies look so good. I started to watch some of your other videos and was taken by your TYW armies. Sorry to be a pain what size bases do you use for those and which rule set? I, like you, have quite a few 15mm armies but certainly not as many. Really enjoying the videos and thank you for your help. G
@@grahamehorwood61 hi Grahame. Same basing scheme actually! 80mm frontage and 60mm depth cavalry. The pike blocks are 80mm frontage and 60mm depth but two in depth. Artillery I think was 40mm frontage on 40mm depth. It all works out well this way. You can double up unit if you want for larger units. I like the ability to create fun little interesting pieces. Feel free to play around that way. If you want to communicate differently and want more pics and stuff just email me. KevinATbaxterkrauseDOTcom
