Hi Steve. I think the T-shirt you wore in this video has answered a few questions; I'm now guessing you are an Ex-pat Brit (you may have taken out US citizenship) and have picked up an American accent during your time in the USA. I too have far too many non-DCC ready locos and am still looking for a magic solution to switch between running DC and DCC locos (I know that I may not have the two different types of loco on the track at the same time - here's hoping. My track plan does not lend itself to having an isolated track for just DC running.).

Hi Paul, Correct assumption, I lived in the UK until the age of 30 when I moved to US where I've been for last 33 years (not a Citizen though). I've seen various ideas for localized switching to and from DC to DCC, I suppose it shouldn't be too hard for a simple layout, but as you add additional power zones to DCC, as in this video, it does somewhat complicate things. I decided to play the "easy" card and just isolate one section, maybe one day I'll look into amore complex power switching option.

@@worthingtonmodelrailway8628 I have been buying locos, rolling stock and other layout bits and pieces for almost 3 years but am only just now starting to lay track. During this period I have had the seeds of an idea of how to switch between DC and DCC, but have yet to finalise the idea. Let me know if you beat me to it.

@@worthingtonmodelrailway8628 My wife was born in the UK and lived there until her early forties. She was a Geordie but escaped the northeast and the disapproval of her peers! They though she should stay in her place, but she's been here in northern Virginia with me since 2011 and became a naturalized citizen a couple years ago. I am currently working on a sizable layout and have the triple breakers like you do. I have quite a few loco's but I've been selling off some that are DCC ready and trying to buy more with DCC sound.
