Yayyy Hannah! Oh thank you so much!!! ✨. It is a bit of work haha but I’m so happy with how it turned out! Hopefully the recommendations work for a diverse set of viewers!!! (Or at least for the different moods 😂)
i've been a silent viewer for a while now but i got so excited seeing this video on my feed - sometimes i want that dose of fantasy without having to commit to a whole series! and i'm such a mood reader too haha love the straightforward video (and the visual aids on the whiteboard), can't wait to pick some of these up ♥ looking forward to the next video
Omg! Thank you so much then for watching and dropping a comment today!! 💕🥹!! It reeeally makes me happy to know that you enjoyed the video and were excited about it!! Did you find any book interesting from the list? 🕵️♀️ Yay!!! Thank you so much for the feedback!!! See you in the next video ♥️
Sword of Kaigen became one of my favorite books of all time! honestly the themes, the story and the way the plot develops! its amazing... it also blew my mind the changes on the typical structure of the stories we are used to read.
Absolutely agree!! Sword of Kaigen is also one of my all-time favorites! 🥹💕when I thought the story couldn’t deliver anything else, the second part started to happen 💔! Ofc veeery different, but have you tried Guns of The Dawn? It’s the only book that I’ve read since SoK that has filled that void 😂
First video I watched of yours and now I've subscribed. I love how you have put your recommendations in specific categories and you have images of the cover as well. So informative! Thanks for sharing.
I didn't Realize Ace of Spades was a standalone! I've been wanting to pick it up and now I think I may get to it even sooner. House in the Cerulean Sea stole my heart when I read it! Just so precious!
It is!!! And very addictive! Yes yes!! Pick it up! ✨✨ Uhhhg! 100% agree with House in The Cerulean Sea! I loved it just so so much! Which standalone would you recommend? 👀
Genius! Thank you so much for this - one of the main reasons why I don’t pick up fantasy is because nothing about committing to a long series makes me excited 😂. I love that you broke this down within moods/sub genres! 💜
Awww thank you!!! 💕🤩 yes! I feel that fantasy is a genre where multiple-books are a must (*cough cough* Stormlight Archive from Brandon Sanderson or The Wheel of Time) but there are sooo many standalones that manage to convey an amazing story!! Hopefully you find some books that you love!!
a great cozy one would be the graveyard book by neil gaiman its one of my favourites!! another one that i havent read yet but i feel like would fit is legends & lattes by travis baldree
Oh!! I have Legends & Lattes in my summer TBR! It seems to be such a cozy read!! I haven’t read The Graveyard Book yet! But after having a look at it in Goodreads it iiiis on my list as well! If not before, I will 100% read it in October!! Thank you so much for the recommendation!! 💕😂
I LOVE this kind of format of videos. Straight to the point and informative. Great recs! I read Aces of Spades and loved it! I have An Enchantment of Ravens and plan to read it soon. I added some of these into my TBR. You got a new subscriber! Keep up with the great content! 🥰
Aww!! Thank you so much!! 🥰 Let me know what you think about An Enchantment of Ravens when you read it! I hope you like it! 🤞 Really happy to have you in this small but cozy family!! 🥹💕
Thank you so much for watching and leaving a recommendation!! 🤩🥹!! I have Piranesi on my TBR! But I keep pushing it bc I’ve heard that you “need to be in the right mental mood” haha so I’m like “ok fine, then when I have enough time?” Warbreaker is amazing!! Have you read The Emperor’s Soul? Also incredible!
@@aliciasorenson3807 incredible for how short it is!! It felt like Shallan was a little bit as the evolution of Shai? (If you’ve read also Stormlight!)
Oh yayyy! I am so happy it was fun 🤩 ! At last doing justice to my booktube name 🤣✨ haha! Thank you so much for watching, really! Hope you can find some standalones that work for you!
Wow this was great, I can tell how much effort you've put into this! I'm excited about all these recommendations, great way to get me started with fantasy books, without having to commit to a whole series 🥹
Hi! Great video! I’ve read The Wicked Deep and To Kill a Kingdom and they were both such amazing stories, I adored reading them !! I’m planning on reading An Enchantment of Ravens and House of Salt and Sorrows this summer. 🤩📚
Hiii! Thank you for watching the video and sharing that you loved Wicked deep and To Kill a Kingdom! Ahh gosh, both books are GREAT you are in for an amazing summer!
@@FunFantasyBooks Yes! 🤩 Glad to hear that they’re good books:) I also really want to read Margaret Rogerson’s other novels, Sorcery of Thorns and Vespertine; the synopsis are so promising!!🤩
first recommendation video ive come across that genuinely wants to make me read every book you mention. thank you so much for sorting them into categories, this is EXACTLY what i was looking for, i also realle appreciate ambience/ the vibes in any book so this is great for me. Youre really good at summarising the books quickly but in an interesting way that isn't just listing tropes but actually talking about the concept. All in all most useful video of 2023 tbh edit: started reading kings of the wyld and youre so right this slaps
Yay! How are you liking Kings of the Wyld? Also, THAN YOU! It really brighten my day to know that you found the video useful! I hoope you find lost of new favorites!
@@FunFantasyBooks That would be great, thanks!!! I enjoy books with characters that are either very skilled, or are becoming very skilled at something; usually in the epic fantasy genre. That doesn't have to be what it is about, but I just gravitate toward perspectives like that.
@@ryanbutler544 straight away I’d say that either Sword of Kaigen or Warbreaker! (Sword of Kaigen is my favorite from the 2, but Warbreaker is an overall more popular option!)
Wow!!! I really appreciate the amount of work and quality you put into this video. Thank you for sharing! 💗💗💗 Also- LOVED An Enchantment of Ravens!! Definition of cozy 🍂
Awwww!!! Thank you so much!! I’m truly happy that you appreciated the video 🥹💕! It definitely makes it worth the effort!! 🤩 Yes!!! Have you read Sorcery of Thorns? I have it now in my TBR!!
I needed this. I went to Barnes and Noble picked up a fantasy novel, checked my goodreads, and realized I read the book already, and now there's a new book in the series, but I'll have to reread everything because I don't remember the first two book in the series. I was in desperate need of a standalone
Aww!! Thank you so much for giving the video a chance! 💕🤩! Knowing that I helped you to find new books (hopefully some new favorites 🤞) makes my day!! 🥰
Happy to discover the channel, I will agree with most recommendations, looking forward for some to finally read and i will disagree with the priory of the orange tree. It was too long, confusing.. I would have like the specific one to take its time and come as a series.
@@FunFantasyBooks hi! After watching the video I found out that most of the cozy ones I already read/in my tbr list! That made me happy🥰 I’m interested in House of Salt and Sorrow and Wicked Deep! I havent read any thriller (with some romance) and it sounded interesting! Oh and also will definitely read An Enchantment of Ravens and Sword of Kaigen now😩 theyre going up my tbr list✨
@@toyo.saketoba hi!! Amazing! Ugh! Sword of Kaigen is incredible good! Have some tissues close tho 😍!! Yayyy! For An Enchantment of Ravens!! For mystery/ thriller, the amazing this is that if you like those books, the authors have already out other books similar to them! Erin A. Craig (from House of Salt and Sorrows has Small Favors- which I haven’t read yet but has great reviews!; and Shea Ernshaw from The Wicked Deep has Winterwood which I also loved!)
WARBREAKER IS THE BEST AND MY FAVE BOOK BY BRANDON AND ONE OF MY ALL TIME BOOKS OF ALL TIME AND I NEED SOMEONE TO TALK TO ABOUT THIS BOOK CAUSE IT WAS SUCH A THRILLING RIDE! also, the girl who fell beneath the sea was a very enchanting read :) this video set up with the board is genius! well done, love it, i need more, u r so talented!
Hahaha oh I agree!!! Warbreaker is incredible! Let’s talk about it!! (either here or on IG!!) - have you read The Emperor’s Soul? I just read it and was surprisingly good!! Thank you so so much! 🥹 I’m glad you loved it!! Hopefully you find a potential new favorite? 💕🤞
Ahh thank you so so much for letting me know! Really this comments means so much! P.S sorry for the delayed response I had a very busy couple of weeks!
Ohh nice!!!! ✨🎉 I definitely think then standalones are a great place to start! Maybe start with Warbreaker? (If you are on the fence with different books!! Ofc if you already have your mind on others that will work too!!)
Thanks for the recommendations! Added them to my to-read, though I have to say, I'm always suspicious of people who recommend ready player one hahahah, I really disliked it
Hahaha 🥲!! I think it’s pretty different from the rest so hopefully any of them makes more sense to you lol! Please give any of other books an opportunity! 🤞🥹
Priory of the Orange Tree was really good, you just kept reading it even though it wasn't a quick read, but very good. I just picked up the huge prequel.
@@FunFantasyBooks I usually recommend Joe Abercrombie's three stand alones, but they don't work as well if you haven't read the First Law Trilogy. Two that come to mind would be The Mists of Avalon - a retelling of the Arthurian tale, from the perspective of the women, and American Gods by Neil Gaiman. I'm reading The Ember Blade by Chris Wooding right now, and thought it was as stand alone, but apparently he's writing a sequel right now, so it doesn't qualify!
another good standalone fantasy is 'Nettle and bone'. Thank you for the recommendations, got 'The girl who fell beneath the sea' and want to read 'The priory of the orange tree'. 'The house in the cerulean sea' so far is my absolute favourite books of the year. I didn't want it to end!
I 100% feel you! I didn’t want House in the Cerulean Sea to end either! If you loved it, I think that “The Very Secret Society for Irregular Witches” it’s super similar in terms of the vibe! I describe it as House in the Cerulean + witches ✨! Let me know if you end up picking it up!
@@FunFantasyBooks finished the witches book 🙂 while it had similar vibes to the 'House in the cerulean sea', I have to say I didn't love it as much. the story was great, but I felt there could have been more focus on the other characters and some of the things could have been left out! overall a good read! 😃
@@bookstorm7 oh no! So sorry to read that it didn’t make it to you! Maybe Cerulean it’s too good to have anything compared to it 😂, my bad! Thank for letting me know tho! What will you pick up next?
Aaaaand ofc it was totally worth it !!❤️❤️ amazing video (as always) and great recs! I already bought sword of kaigen (🙊🙊🙊) so I will read it soon but now I want to read a lot of new ones 🤭🤭😍👀
@@FunFantasyBooks hahaha yaaay i will tell you once I read it ! And.. I kind of already finished it.... 🤓🤭🙈 I binged read it in like 2 days? Have you started it???👀👀👀
@@inesortega3949 hahaha no way! How was it?? No!! I am working my way through a reading challenge and need to finish up one book before getting into These Twisted Bonds! Buttttt It’s def going to be next week!!
When you go into a video full of doubt and than you see "The House in the Cerulean Sea", my favorite book! I will probably give these standalones a try!
Ohhh!! 🥰 yay! I’m so glad the video was able to spark some joy with your favorite book out there!! It’s also one of my favorite!! Such a cozy and happy read! 🥹💕! Thank you for watching & dropping a comment!!! Let me know what books will you pick and let’s chat about them afterwards 👀!!
I really enjoy reading book series bc of the long storys, the charakter development in it and the lot of details. The bigger the book and the longer the series the more time you have for details in describing situations, enviornment and stuff. But sometimes it´s just nice to read a book like ready player one (which would be also fit in the "epic" table, but fun is also right :D). I also enjoyed The Rithmatist by Sanderson. Nice video and thank you for awakening my motivation to continue reading my book (after a pause of 3 weeks or so xD)
I totally understand your point!! I also love trilogies/ long book series (Stormlight Archive is so far my favorite serie/story of all times!) but I think that standalones when done good, are amaaaaazing stories! Just finished The Soul of The Emperor by Brandon Sanderson and it’s like 200 pages long and still outstanding! Haha agree with Ready Player One! I was veeery on the fence with that one! Aww thank you for watching and commenting! 🤩🤩
@@FunFantasyBooks Your welcome! I can totally recommend you The Wheel of Time! That is my favorite book series of all time (although stormlights chances are pretty high to get on the same stage as well, when it’s finally finished) :D
@@graibe3201 hahaha but it’s too laaaaateeeeee 🎶 (please intro the song Apologize for a dramatic effect!). But really! Already watched it! Wasn’t bad? But yeah, felt very teen
@@FunFantasyBooks YES , I really want to read ace of spades and I’ve heard great things about it and the setting sounds so good , and also good omens sounded so interesting
You are absolutely right! I haven’t read Ready Player Two, but the fist one can definitely be read as a standalone (as in it concludes in a very satisfying way!)
Sorry I left this comment unanswered!! You’re absolutely right! Brandon confirmed that Warbreaker will have a sequel (yay Nightblood!) but he also stated that this won’t happen until he finishes at least Stormlight 5 🥲! Also I think that Siri and Susebron won’t play really a role! That’s why i went with the original concept of the standalone!! Thank you so so much for watching and commenting! It’s lovely to chat and meet other Sanderson fans!! 🥹
I read Sword of Kaigen in ebook and I did not realize until this moment that the paperback has so much internal design 🤯 That's so pretty! A lot of self-pub books I've seen recently have so much care and detail put into it, it makes me want to read them all! Also, I'm now reevaluing your red shelf, and I think my final ranking is red > purple > green.
It is pretty!!! I guess that you’ll need to ask for the paperback this Christmas! 👀!! Hahaha I am also dropping the purple bowed and I am now very much into the blue > red > purple > green!! Alsooooo! It’s the final countdoooown! (Tanananaaa, tanana nanaa 🔥)
@@PatrickRyanBookReviews hahahaha fair enough!! I love your recommendations (although I’m still mentally chased bc I’ve not fulfilled yet my promise to keep reading Dresden Files!)
@@FunFantasyBooks Dresden can wait a bit. It's a 17 book series + 2 collections of short story and another 8 books planned. Black Jack is a standalone.
Ugh!! I am afraid not! I am very compelled about the world and I do watch their beautiful lore videos! My bf is the one who played! What about you? ✨⚡️
@@FunFantasyBooks both me and my husband play and I have read all the books. Your the first book person apart from myself that I've heard talk about WoW
r.p.o ..............that 'hero' is a insufferable cocky loser that gets the girl and in r.p.t doesn't learn anything becomes the villain. loses the girl. gets stuck in the game. he just ends up being the same as he was at the end of r.p.o gets the girl and has a baby. r.p.t was a blatant cash grab
