Imitating Hans Zimmer's grand sound in his work for the 2010 movie "Inception" using only the piano has proven to be quite the challenge. By stacking multiple recordings of the same note being bowed with rosined fishing line, I managed to replicate an orchestral string sound, which is an integral part of the piece. Together with many more effects (among others also the trusty old rub mallet on bass strings I used in every video so far) I managed to achieve a satisfactory result.
Get immersed again in the mindbending world of Inception, follow Cobb's spinning top around the piano and enjoy the sound!
