16 horsepower video splinters. This Splinters-video is a compilation of old archive-images and fragments of 16hp's concert registrations from Pinkpop (Landgraaf) The Netherlands and Denver, Colorado.
First heard these guys in the 90s on Colorado NPR. Immediately ran out and bought everything by them I could find. Still one of my all-time favorite bands. I'm agnostic, but this band is incredible.
I first heard them mid-90s on 93.3 KTCL late at night when they did a set of local music. My first show was in 96 at the Bluebird on Colfax. Devotchka and Slim Cessnas Auto Club opened for 16hp. Changed my whole world. 1990s Denver had some amazing music❤

Secret South was my entrance into Davids universe. Still remember the place and time where I heard him for the first time. A local TV station in Oslo 20 years ago did an interview before a gig and played a couple of songs from this album. I was home with my two small kids watching TV. I was totally blown away. If my wife had been home that evening, I would have jumped in my car and taken the 1+ hour drive there and then to see him a few hours later.
I just heard this artist for the first time a couple of days ago. I'm really impressed. I discovered this because of a band I listen to called Devildriver that is covering the song 'Black Soul Choir'. The original version is just incredible.
Yes !! here in Texas we learned about this song from the Greek crime drama television series created by Panos Kokkinopoulos called the tenth command. We had the tenth command to our village
Self sent a twister A tearin' after me Gonna bust my house to splinters An take all that's dear to me You say you saw it comin' yeah But still you did not flee I was too weak I couldn't move Held by growth of a tree An yes I fell upon that rock I did not die just badly broken An in time my healing it will come By the words that He has spoken Oh yeah I fell upon that rock Who is it now that loves you Strait in the front door An crooked out the back What is it now you're a slave to On your knees out in your shack Oh yeah I fell upon that rock He is beyond the shadow Of your doubt and mine He is no man's opinion He is truth divine Self sent a twister A tearin' after me Done bust my house to splinters yeah An took all that's dear to me yeah Come on Who is it now that loves you Strait in the front door An crooked out the back What is it now that you pray to As your world begins to crack Yeah, oh yeah I fell upon that rock Yeah He's beyond the shadow Of your doubt and mine He is no man's opinion He is truth divine An yes I fell upon that rock I did not die just badly broken An in time my healing came yeah By the words that He has spoken
Unbelievable quality of music ! Does'n matter it is metal or hard rock or undergrund. It is an all time value. Wovenhands also similar, because it is his new band. Epic.
You know someone doesn't listen to metal or rock when they use the term "heavy" to describe something like this. It's a real good song, but heavy? naaah
It is said there is nothing new under the sun.. This never gets old-the message is timeless.. We are broken, in great need of the master Potter.. eternally Truth Divine.. ..
Timothysaarinen: I know, I feel the same way you do, and I'm an American. However, I got to see them live at the awesome Southgate House in Covington KY and the crowd that was there was amazing and devoted. Lone Cincinnati chicks that 'got it.' 2 boys that drove 4 hours from their factory shifts in Appalachian Pikeville, KY, just to see 16HP and then drive 4 hrs back, without sleep, to go back to work. And yes, the live performance was MINDBLOWING. love all of them!
@VSPJan zeker weten! Ten years ago my brother was playing airguitar on it, I was only 5 years old, so did'nt even know what the music ment to be... but now i'm older, and still loving the music.. it's still awesome and beautiful music. great!
How can one not be impressed by DEE lyrics, voice, power- he's a poet and a true voice of his native land, like some Native Indian, wild and untamed, a truly great artist- how little we recognise such talented Individuals and pander to the shite that is commercial crap dressed as game for the masses, such mediocrity, such souless waste for the ears of the blind.
I vote "Splinters" as the best song to come out of the 21st century thus far. I challenge anyone who hasn't heard this song before (and anyone who has heard it 11 times, like your truly), to sit in front of a nice pair of speakers and listen without being profoundly moved by this song.
How come this music is so popular in Greece??? It's popular in Croatia (among students mainly), I know that! What's with us Balkan people, how come we love this music so much?
It became popular because of a tv series that mainly used songs of this kind of music like 16 horsepower and it seems that was very attractive to our ears I guess
@WanderingMidget Alot of American bands have to come to Europe to be heard, but yes there seems to be alot of Europeans posting. Serious music is often overlooked in mainstream America, it s just geographically smaller here and some band are just picked up quickly, I'm glad people know them though as they are great!
