Update: The Extrem PRO (0:39 top left) is no longer working. Formating it takes forever and once inserted in a device it fails to read. It didn't even see much use. So avoid that one.
I think Lexar are the best cuz i saw a lot of those mobile handled console that emulating like nes and gba using them, mean they are good, also they have an official store on AliExpress so there are legit. I have 64 gb Lexar for 1 year working great.
Yeah me as well. But it also makes sense since most of those fake 2TB Micro SDs are often enough 32GB, so it probably wouldn't be cheaper to lie about a 32GB card.
@@dyXurChannel Have you Tested 256GB Cards from Same manufactor are they thrue Capacity ? i ordered a 256gb from Temu No name they are Fake only 16GB .
I was surprised in general, that none of the working ones were much slower than the baseline. Hell, some like the Lexar were straight up more than double the speed.
Wow I've seen Lexar in alot of stuff like clone console from Aliexpress but did not know that it would be actually decently fast If I ever get a flash cart I'll think of getting lexar
Some time ago I bought two SD cards from AliExpress. One is a Sandisk, the other is a Microdrive, both 64 gigabytes. Capacity and speeds were as described and worked well from the start. I used them on phones to store photos. But after a month or two my photos started breaking. Some could not be read, others disappeared for no reason. The tests showed that the cards were fine (didn't give any errors), but after a while they lost data. Both cards have the same problem on two different phones. Now I have cards purchased from my country and no problems :)
In regards to long-term testing. I started testing some of the drives / cards, but would like your input on this issue. Check out this community post for more info: ru-vid.comUgkx-QyWJm01kRqExuClV2dTtY_9YXvas27w
I needed a new 64GB micro sd card and here in the Netherlands they are around € 10 - 15 a piece in the shop and I wondered if the AliExpress ones are any good. That's how I found this video. I used the same strategy as you: free shipping for at least 3 items, they were all € 2,53 each so I bought 4 ones of 64GB and different brands like the Lexar, Halloween and Christmas. It would be nice to get 4 for the price of one. Transfer speed is not that important to me but as long as they have the right capacity I am happy. But I will let you know the results when they arrive and I have the opportunity to test them. Great video, thanks. Liked and subscribed!
@@filippocara0510 For just storage they work great: 3 pieces of 64GB card including shipping for around € 5.50 (about US$6) but they come nowhere near the advertised read and write speed. Some perform slightly better than others, but for me they work great: I only need them for storage anyway. The same goes for USB drives, I bought several of them and the all have the right capacity but not the read-write speed. It seems the pictures are printed on later so the brands and images don't really indicated anything imo. P.S. Of course 2TB drives are not that cheap, if you buy SD cards or USB drives up to 128GB it's probably going to have the right capacity but read and write slower. GL!
I think I mentioned it on another video (or community post), but the long term testing is currently on hold. The method, I used took way to long and was inconsistent.
Great content you should just do more testing. You should show us in the video what are the downsides and upsides of such a cheap device. That to the side you did a great job on shorts and on main chanell
Thanks for the critic! This is indeed a valid point and I will try my best to incorporate this in the future. One of the downsides (which I forgot to mention) is the longevety of these SSDs, which could in the worst case take years to test, but I would've loved to include a failure rate or smth. That aside. I would love to hear if there is a specific aspect you would've wanted me to cover or go deeper into.
I basically used f3 to test reads, writes and size and used badblocks to check their integrity. Cheap flash (and sd cards in general iirc) sadly don't implement SMART. Otherwise I would've used that as well. Also, thanks for the sub!
Now this is very useful video, thank you so much :). On the other side of the spectrum, being good micro sd cards, what other specific budget and non budget card options do you suggest, if any?
@@yareyaredaze9450 To be completely honest I don't have a seperate category for budget and non-budget I can recommend. Prices have come down by a lot, even for brand ones. Both SanDisk (e.g extreme pro & plus) and Kingston (e.g. CANVAS) haven't let me down so far.
most 32-64 are usually true capacity but above that like 128gb are risky and I highly doubt there is a 1tb one that is legit. I have a dragon 128gb Mico Sd for my switch and it does the job pretty well. You can't trust a review unless it's tested with H2testw or a similar program, the first Sd I bought was a 32 disguised as 128 :/
Yeah so far 32-64 GB have gave good results. But yeah, when you get into the 3-digits it is risky. There are 1TB ones, but not on AliExpress and they cost 100$ to 200$ and certainly not 2$ like some ads that are out there. F3 (which is used in the video) is like H2test, but for Linux, Mac & Win.
Every one I've ever purchased all different sizes and brands approx 10, not one worked without crashing and losing all data. DON'T BUY FROM ANY SELLER BOASTING CHEAP PRICES.
Yeah thats the biggest danger. If you need the data on the SD card or have a certain amount of reliability theres no way around getting a good branded one. These cheap ones make more sense in cases where you kinda just need one for something quick and you want to have a bunch E.g. SBCs, for ROMs, etc.
I looked at sd card prices on Aliexpress and the Lexar ones now cost almost as much as they would in the shop. I bought a cheap "Xiaomi" 256GB, F3 reports the capacity as 128GB and flags it as a fake. Furthermore my dashcam can't even write to the card. Well, well. For larger capacity cards it's a waste of time buying the cheap ones.
@@dyXurChannel no you didnt, its time consuming nice to hear youre working on it though, reliability and durability are the main issues with these cheaper media since theyre usually main brand rejects and it proves, the results are the same within a normal margin of error
When you say the capacity is correct, you mean that you tried to actually put at least 25/30gb of data in them? Or did you just read the capacity by a software? Because they could have a fake firmware in them, declaring a bigger capacity.
I used a software that fills the SD card up with files and then checks if all of these files are still correct or not. It's called F3. Most people are more familiar with H2Test
In that case it should be obvious though. But I still had to make sure (you never know if they didn't just print 32GB on a SDHC card which can be max 4GB), otherwise there would be no use in testing any further.
@@Riz_Aviation_722 I wouldn't be so sure about that. The trick with fake SD cards, is that they appear to be working, so that someone who doesn't runs out of time for a complaint. It might be leftover stock, that they are selling.
Well if the price is roughly 3 to 4 times of the 128 one I would say so. But as it has been mentioned by other commenters. There is a good chance that these are B-Ware. 512 might be too risky if you ask me.
