My answer as an INFJ - "I do not hold any moral right to decide the fate of others, so I let time do its work, and if the odds favour the people on that track ,they will be saved by that very probability which favours them". (even in a hypothetical situation)

@GK-ob1ni

But what if it was fate that put you there so you could help these people? 🤔. Another INFJ here. Edit: What if the people on the track were praying for rescue and God answered their prayers by putting you in that place at the right time? If it was fate for those people to die, I would think that fate would ensure that there was no one around that could hinder that plan. The fact that you're there indicates to me that you were meant to be there and were meant to act. The way I look at it, we are all connected. Everything we do affects someone in some way. It's the butterfly effect. If you pull the lever, you will forever change the lives of not only the people on the track, but also their loved ones and anyone connected with them. If you don't pull the lever, you will forever change the lives of the people on the track, their loved ones and anyone connected with them. Basically, regardless of whether you choose to act or not you will be playing a role in their fate - so make sure the role you play is something you can live with.

I Have Seen Such People, they are entirely idiots, Caring About their Own status Rather Than To Save Lives. If There were No Social Media, Would You then also give up on them For Not Knowing Them. I Have Seen ESFJs To Be very Sensitive Of Others, This Response Was More Of An ESTP Type That's Pathetic, Let's Suppose You don't know someone in train and he is in trouble, would you really not mind saving them, That's what humanity is nowadays, Most of them even don't care others anymore. It is just restricted to some imaginary likes, followers. which can be gained by paying money also. Also, This Happens When you are more of isolated from others. And This is What Happens When You become isolated from others due to social media, aka You become antisocial. So, it is much good to delete such apps and spend more time in real life. Also, a train without brakes is probably going too fast for that curve, so pulling the lever guarantees it will derail killing all 6 people, something that would only be revealed in hindsight after freezing for too long and panicking as it thunders closer, or it derails from trying to pull the lever as it's hitting it, killing all 6 that way instead. Lots of ways to mess up. And of course the thing I could have done to stop it from happening will pop into my head a few days later, or I would expect unreasonable things of myself 'why couldn't I have stolen a digger and buckled the tracks ahead of the train to derail it before it got to the people'. :)
@jamlaw
@jamlaw 24 дня назад
Ya I was thinking similar... Like, "well, the train is ALREADY going in that direction... If I do nothing then *technically* it's not my fault." But then, also, I know I'd probably sit and ponder what to do for so long that the train ended up just continuing on to run over the 5 so... oh well. Sort of the same result which I knew would happen to begin with, anyway, haha. Ultimately, I'd want to come up with some way to stop the train first. There has to be a way. But it feels futile and the time-crunch would make me panic and...same result. haha

Adding my 2 cents to ISFP/ENFP reasoning - that single person on train tracks could be Anna Karenina for all we know 🙂🤷‍♀️. Soooo… there’s no way to save them all? There is no right decision then. Yes, I’m that idiot who occasionally gets triggered and struggles to accept the fact that life isn’t fair. I’ll pull the lever knowing it’s wrong, unhappy with my decision, but inaction is so much harder for me, to let go and stop trying to “sacrifice” myself for whatever I think is best. @danjoredd
@danjoredd 2 месяца назад
I am INFJ and my rational is that saving the 5 people would have a much higher chance for one of them to make a big impact. The one guy might do something with his life, but the several of the 5 might also as well. Regardless I would rather live with the guilt of one man's death than 5, also. The trolley problem becomes much more interesting, at least to me, if the one person is someone you love. A mother, a spouse, a sibling, etc. Think Peter Parker trying to save Mary Jane and the bus full of children because the green goblin wanted to force him to choose between his desires and the greater good. A better version of the trolley problem was given to me...the planet destroying button. You have a button thay will destroy a planet. This planet has billions of people. You will never see this planet, and know nobody from it. You know for fact that it exists and that the button will in fact destroy that planet. If a supervillain had a gun pointed to your mother, and said that he will pull the trigger if you don't destroy the planet, would you press it? There are no consequences for pressing besides the knowledge that billions died by your hand.
@ShizuruNakatsu
@ShizuruNakatsu 2 месяца назад
@danjoredd I'm an INFJ I definitely would NOT press the button. I'd try to find some way to kill the villain, even if it got me and my mother killed. I don't let evil exist, so I'm going to fight if somebody is evil, even if the odds are 0% I win. I will stand up against an army with guns pointed at me, if they are in the wrong. I just won't stand for injustice. I also have the belief that all lives are equal, whether or not I know them personally. So just because somebody is important to me for personal reasons, it doesn't make their life worth more than another. I'd also NEVER do something bad. No matter what. If I consider it immoral, or evil, I'm not doing it, no matter what is at stake. I would never kill or even harm anybody, unless THEY are evil and/or about to hurt somebody.
@danjoredd
@danjoredd Месяц назад
@@ShizuruNakatsu I agree with you on the button. You would be surprised how many people would, simply because they don't see the planet or know anyone from it. It is disturbing to me how many people think that way. I disagree with your final statement about never doing bad, however. It is impossible to not do bad. Oftentimes, doing bad comes from a place of trying to do good and going about it the wrong way. As the Bible says, "In a person's own eyes all his ways are right, but the Lord weighs the motives of the heart." Even if you are not Christian, that verse rings true...we all think of ourselves as good guys no matter what. Wisdom is knowing not only that you are capable of evil, but will likely commit it in some form or fashion. No matter what your belief system is, life is not a black and white system. Denying the fact that you will do bad will only ensure the fact that you will do bad in the future. We must be self aware of ourselves and seek wisdom above all else, to navigate this world of grey morality the best we know how.

INFP is TOO accurate dude... Anytime I've heard someone say what they would do I've spent the next 10 minutes, 15 minutes, next couple days wondering what I would do, if I would do anything, how it would be justifiable to do either, what if I pulled the lever and the guy's mom comes up in tears, and asks why I killed her child, I wouldn't have an answer, what if I killed all five and the one guy says I should've just killed him, is it possible I could flip the switch so that it derails the train? What if there are people on the train?? I'd be responsible for them as well!! What if the driver gets trauma, and it's my fault because I didn't flip the switch? Huh? Also WHY ARE THEY ON THE TRACKS?? WHO PUT THEM THERE?? Was it someone I know? Am I in danger? And why can't the train stop? (This is why I would freeze up, in case you're wondering) And I admire the ESTJ for their clear thinking. Unfortunately it's not that simple for an INFP :D

I would look for something like a log to throw onto the track, hoping the train driver might see it in time and stop. They never say if the train is full or empty? Because if full and derailed it would kill more people? If I couldn't find a log to push on to the tracks, I'd pull the switch and save 5 over one person, rather then 5 die and one is saved. If I couldn't decide, 5 die. If that happened in real life, I wouldn't think it's my fault, I would see it as an impossible situation. Which of course, it is! That's why these questions are ridiculous! It's supposed to test your morality? But if you kill one person you're a murderer, if you kill 5 you're a serial killer!! I definitely understand what you mean but in this exact case scenario, you have to choose one or the other. They're both killing people (so the horror of it is still there nonetheless), but thinking about it as "I either have 5 families nourning their loved one or 1 family mourning their loved one", it's like when we hear about accidents in the news, "5 dead in horrible train accident " or "1 dead in horrible train accident" , to me it seems that 5 people dying to 1 person dying (although it's still sad and attrocious) standing there and not doing anything would make it much more awful. But that's just my thought process, perhaphs too technical for regarding human life , but in this case it just seems like the more reasonable option.
@Die-Flugel-der-Freiheit
@Die-Flugel-der-Freiheit 6 месяцев назад
@@vanessaa.6087 Yes, I understand, but it's not a problem that can be reduced to arithmetic. They can't take away its complexity and make you happy, because when you stop thinking for yourself, someone else makes the decisions for you. It seems right to kill one person so that 5 don't die, but by intervening you become a murderer. Would you be willing to take that? You would remember that person's expression before you died for the rest of your life, knowing that they realized that you purposely moved the lever for them to die Or maybe later you'll start to like it and don't mind doing it with people you hate. Us INTJ's aren't actually as heartless as we make you think. 🤣 As an INTJ, I would choose not to interfere. My reasoning includes that of the INTP, ENFP (we never know the ripple effects), and INFJ (I would be scared to mess it up).

As an INTP, I would pull the lever exactly in the middle so the train would just go straight off.

Good😊 What about the driver They don't have seatbelts It would also lead to property damage

Wouldn't that unstablize the train and could kill everyone there

Honestly, that would probably end up killing everyone, including the people on the train, and you standing next to the switch. So, plus side, you wouldn't have to deal with any of the consequences. 🤣🤣

@@monkey6114 The train would just drop onto the ground and stop. Imagine it just lands standing in the middle of those play tracks.

@@emilynightray If it goes as expected, but if it goes wrong you would have killed people on the train, you have to consider it.

I am ENFJ and when i first heard this trolley problem, the very first thought that came to my mind was “can i throw myself in front of the train to make it stop? So no one dies and i don’t have to live in an agony of not being able to save everyone?”

sorry sweetheart, that would just mean six people would die instead of five... 😢 very relatable though, this situation is so stressful that ourselves just. dying instead can genuinely seem more appealing than living to make either choice
