On February 17 in the Jackson Hole backcountry, 16-year-old Kai Jones dropped into a 1000-foot couloir. With no trail map and limited beta on snow conditions, width/length of the couloir, or the line; Kai drops in and solves the problem by straightlining down the monster chute.

I always have told Kai about the 5 rules of skiing. 1. When in doubt point it out 2. Speed is your friend. I think he stopped listening after that.

This. Was. SO. SIIIIIICKKKKK!!!!! I’ve dreamed of lines like these. I watch so many videos of people taking their sweet time cutting back and fourth down these lines, and I think this is how it should be done. Once he picked up speed he had no choice but to continue pointing them which is too bad as there were some good turns to be had. If he was a racer he could have continued to make turns. He’s lucky not to crash as he was definitely getting back too far on his skis near top speed.
