Nice review. For better confort you should adjust the angle of your seat (it is tilted backwards), probably change the seat because it's very wide and not always is more confortable being wider. Any sport cyclist can agree with this. Also you could change your handlebars for wider ones. Probably they are short because it is a folding bike. But if you don't use that feature change your handlebars! Easy and cheap fixes for a nice bikes. I don't personally like the looks of the bike. But who cares. And once you ride a bike and its fine you start to like it more and more.

Its a 750w motor with a peak of 1000w, it couldn't sustain a 1000w for long periods without causing damage to components, also, the regen works in any mode you just have to be on 0 or 1 in that mode and over 12mph

you clearly have no idea what you are talking about. Lithion Ion battery has a very flat discharge voltage curve at the top end of its capacity and the dumb engwe controller only probes the voltage for discharge indicator. So while it says "100%" it might be 100% or 80% in reality and you will never know. When it says 50% it will go down to zero much faster than from 100% to 50%.
@MrMayamaster
@MrMayamaster Год назад
This is absolutely true.. I experienced the same thing. 100% to 50/40% can take a while but 40% to 0% can be gone in 10 minutes... BUT, I can still ride around ON 0% for at least 10 minutes without a problem. Basically, the gauge is really bad at giving exact numbers. When I stop, the gauge goes back up from 0% to 10%... This is possibly the regenerative breaking

For this motor you need 2x16Ah batteries. 1000W pulls 20A not good for batery, 10A or less good for battery, much more efficient. You charge with 2A so you do notvwant ti discharge more than 10A. Good you say can go 50km/h on avg terain for one hour ride needs 2000Wh, you have 75% of 48 x 16Ah < 600Wh 15 min increased losses one bat you do 10+km. At 25km/h 250W can go 2h pl, us 60km? How efficient 1000W bike on 25% power much less than on 50% power 500W speed 32km/h but batery not efficient and lossess in cabling heating of cabling and battery.

So my new car cost 40,000 dollars, I've still got to pay it off for the next few years. I have to pay for cleaning, gas, oil, washer fluid, and coolant often, then there's winter tires as I live in WA, USA, lots of snow. Then there's emergency costs if it breaks, and other fluids that you don't change often, 1 or 2 battery replacements, and insurance which is extremely expensive, especially since I have no insurance history (drove 2 years w/out it on my old car) and I just turned 19. I don't drive far other than for road trips, which aren't often. If I bought this bike, it would probably last me in good condition ~5 years. Have to pay for charging of course, but cleaning is easy and technically free. Interesting. Also roads here are pretty bad but it's still very possible.

Interested about how much using this bluetti onboard really extends range, and is it allowing to charge battery through charging while riding? not blocked? Bluetti would be getting much more efficient by just making proper cable avoiding using bluetti inverter as well as bike charger, so it really looks like interesting option of good way to extend range... any information of approx. range increasing using setup like this shown on video?

hello, I've been using the same bike model for about a month, and so far the only big disappointment is the battery!!! A total daily trip of 8 miles, in normal mode,on speed 3 or 4, and pedaling most of the way, when returning from 100%, I lose at least 15-20% of the capacity. When I used on gear 4 or 5,only electric,I lose 40% battery, I don't want to try mode Sport gear 5.😅😅 every 3rd day, I need to recharge, and honestly I'm disappointed when the website offers 50 km range with a full battery. Otherwise, the bike exceeds expectations. thank you
@clipuri
@clipuri Год назад
Really, its not that hard to do a dual-battery setup with this one. Just get a ebike dual battery balancer (it fits next to the controller, in the frame) and have an extra xt60 connector/cable next to the bike rack. Buy another 13Ah or 16Ah battery from Engwe and dismount the part with the locking mecanism. The battery has an internal xt60 connector. Protect the battery in a well cushioned bag and just take it with you when you need the extra range.

Everything from 20km/h to 45km/h is a moped in Sweden and above that it's a motorcycle. Since this one goes up to 50km/h you definitely need a motorcycle license. My guess is that this bike isn't even legal to drive on the road in Sweden. Edit: If it's not self propelled and only helping when peddling it's allowed up to 25km/h without plates and a license.

@fraserthomson5766 Год назад
Some of the bolts were loose from the factory, get yourself some decent tools like an allen key set, make sure all the bolts have washers while you're at it. You can loosen the 2 Philips screws on the fenders to align center (and a good opportunity to check they're tight but no over tight, it's thin aluminum) There will always be some rattles though, godsend in the rain! :)

2:55 You can install an 11-34T nickel freewheel instead of the 14-28T oem one make peddling easy at top speed (11 teeth in lowest gear). If you want to go faster, swap the chainwheel to one with more teeth, you could install a 75T there and pedal up to 70-80kph easy.
@fraserthomson5766
@fraserthomson5766 Год назад
Yes that's correct to measure for size. And I wouldn't recommend the 75T (75 teeth) as it's too big and would be bigger than the floor guard so would contact the floor when you fold the bike. .The 11-34T is great for peddling up to 30mph, best upgrade for speed. Very easy to do with a freewheel tool. @@A.T.99

2:22 This is the exact same rattle I have speeding up. It's similar going uphill. I wonder if anyone knows how to fix this? Motor axle bearing? Like a resonance I can also feel in the front forks. Also, 1600k's later, I would definitely pop the motor out of the hub to check and re-grease the nylon gears, makes the motor quieter and smoother, and the motor might last longer. I use Molykote PG-74, which is specific for nylon to metal gears. Happy riding!

@fraserthomson5766

@@progrockrules I've done some research, the Engwe controller is a square wave only output, that's what causes the rattle. If you upgrade the controller, look for sine wave, which has no rattle. Google "Square wave vs Sine wave motor noise" and you'll see. I'd love to upgrade my controller to Sine Wave, maybe 35amp for faster hill climbing, but the myriad of choices and things that'll no longer work (speed-lights-pedal assist) put me off. For now, I'm happy to have a lil rattle between 0-5mph.

Hi i would like to ask you slightly specific question, how much range can you get from 100% battery going 45 - 50 km/h constant speed as far as you can on relatively flat road with pedaling, in the most basic setup of this bike like no extra battery, this will decide if im going to buy this bike i need at least 40 km range on mostly full speed that is 20km to my work and 20km back
@ECO-xd6eh
@ECO-xd6eh 6 месяцев назад
The basic configuration (ECO Mode) would allow you to reach, at most, 35-40 km/h cruising speed, but you could do + 60/70 km. no problem. Guaranteed after my continuous use for more than 2 months. With the most powerful configuration (SPORT Mode) you would reach those speeds (even more on somewhat descending terrain), but you would sacrifice autonomy. Using the accelerator and pedal assistance at random, you could travel between 40-50 km. In any case, it is wonderful to drive an Engine Pro. Sometimes, on local roads (Limit 70/80 km/h), motorists who come in front and do not know how to calculate very well whether what is in front of them is a motorcycle or a bike, they end up giving me the V salute, confused by my speed. Real. XD Good luck with your purchase!

Two of my hybrid pushbikes without suspension would basically equal it. I weigh 100kg and have fairly strong legs. Should I be classed as a motorcycle because I can cruise on flat at 20-25mph on a calm day on a 15kg hybrid bike? What is the difference? Why is the Engwe inherently more dangerous?
