It's breath taking on how much back up vocal work Nash and Crosby did. A crazy experience still for me when they ended up standing right behind me standing in line for a movie. I swear that David's iconic mustache was tickling my neck!
I use to dance with my father in Mexico, named James, when I was 7 years old to this song in 1975. We would go to Isla Danzante, an uninhabited island off of Loreto in the Sea of Cortez. And I've been a bass player for over 40 years. This song is means a lot to me, thank you.
Outstanding...can still hear my mom spinning this in the house while we kids played in the backyard in the mid-70s. Our folks were all young once, too...
I know you've been told a million times, but you're such a cool level-headed dude. I absolutely love your calm demeanor. It makes my day. I started my 6-year old watching you too. Now he wants to be a bass player.
Great news on Maureen. All the best on that. But the big thing I have to say today is I didn't think I could admire you any more, but two incidents, in a few days, of your fighting to protect wildlife impresses TF outta me. You are a good man, a great husband, and an awesome bass player. Take care. Be well. - Jstn
I'm so glad things are beginning to look up for Maureen. Thanks for caring about wildlife the way you do. I just had Jame's playing in the background when I saw your update (Mudslide Slim) Great to hear Mexico today too!
I live near a town where 50 or so geese live in the main street. They decide they are going to cross the road and the traffic just has to wait for them. Admittedly, it's not LA, just a small town, but I love the way everybody accepts that the geese run the show.
Great story about the mama goose and her goslings….yes, it is amazing how wrapped up in their own crap some people get so that it’s all about them and any slight inconvenience is just insupportable and beyond the pale for them. Jerks. Great play-along!
We live near a golf course near the Oakland Hills and we have wild Turkeys and their off spring at times walk down streets and even cross four lane traffic. Humans tend to worry more about it than the Turkeys. I have been here since '78 and in all the road kill seen not one has been a Turkey. It is a given, to many jerks abound☘
I briefly met you back on the Carol/Taylor tour in Denver; you were on the ramp, getting off a charter plane. One of the most surreal moments of my life. Huge thrill. You snapped a photo of me and I’m in your book !!!🖕🏼 Keep being YOU!
Hey lee. Thank you for playing for us. As always a joy to see and hear. Thank you so much for helping those geese to get to the park. In my neighborhood we also have geese but we also have swans not a lot but a few couples and when those beautiful creatures cross the road it is always funny. They are really slow and with their long necks they can often look over a bonnet of a car and that’s funny. With a look in their eyes of hey, I’m walking here. So you have to be patience with them. You have to love them. ❤️ Good news about Maureen. I’m happy for you. About joining your clubhouse. My English is pretty good when I’m relax and just typing like right now but if I have to speak it and especially with you. I don’t know if I get a good word out. I’m still in such awe of your playing that I’m massively starstruck when I get to speak to you. I hope you understand. It is a major threshold for me. Greetings sir.
Great news about Maureen… what a relief… I can’t imagine what she’s been through, but hopefully back to 100% in a few more months… you are a special person Lee… love these videos… also hope your truck is going to survive a few more years for you 👍👍👍👍👍
Love that you exist to co-exist with wildlife. We have a lot of turkeys in Eastern Washington that have the right of way when crossing the street. It’s always interesting to see drivers reactions- for the most part the drivers are very cautious. Thank you for sharing about your precious Maureen
Hi Lee, Absolutely wonderful news about Maureen. I'm so so delighted!! As usual, much respect to you as always for your love and concern for our furry and feathered brethren. That would have been a sight to behold for sure. I've never seen a gopher but would love to. It's great the the little dude is settling well. Im sure he has got his feet, or should i say paws, well and truly under the table. Sending my very best to you and Maureen and the boys. Hugs and best wishes ☘️❤️☘️
I always loved this album, thanks for sharing your compassion for animals. Mexico and Lighthouse are a few of my favorites where JT collaborated with David Crosby and Graham Nash.
🎉🎊. What great news about the back and shoulder!!! Another effort that would be a spectacular career in itself. Can't tell you how often my bestie and myself listened to this back in the day!
Happy May Day or International Workers Day a favorite day in my calendar. The review from Maureen’s medical team is good news, and a helping hand to a mother Goose with siblings just going home is good work done on International Workers Day. Thank you for playing ‘Mexico’ with your accompaniment it left me with a smile. ☘
So glad about the good news. Sounds like things are getting better. Hope you get back on the road soon. Shouldn't be too long. Glad someone takes the time to save animals. Love JT. Great song by you all. . ty.for the music.
So glad to hear of Maureen's progress. Give her some good jokes and make her laugh. It's medicine you can't buy. I stop for wildlife too. Squirrels, geese, turkeys, I slow down for them all. Life is precious. Keep your chin up Lee, your doing everything you need to do. Great job Mr. Bassman, love ya. Doug up in Green Bay, Wi. Planning to see you guys up in Door County, Wi. Take care. Love Frankenstein!!!!
I’m delighted!! Especially to hear of Maureen’s progress☺️🙏Really gives one a renewed faith in Doctors… who have that “surgeon “ distinction at the back of their name……HA!! You go Maureen💕😊wonderful news! Just great to hear all is progressing…..The geese are safe….and all is well…..Can’t wait to hear the insurance news…..fingers and toes crossed….. but as things are going… benevolent outcomes abound! Blessings to all… love 🎶Mexico…. Up in Mexico for me down here in Belize…. ❤🪷🌹🪷🌹🪷😎🌀👍🖕🖕🖕🖕….. 😂
I was privileged to attend a J.T gig at a winery in Australia last Saturday....oh my goodness, I love this guy...(Jimmy is great, but I would have been deliriouslying stoked had you been the bassman ❤).Thanks for the update Lee, so happy about Maureen! 🦆🦆🦆🦆🦆🦆
Great news about your wife’s recovery. Very good of you to help the wildlife. I’m a wild animal and you’ve made no effort to save me…maybe someday😎. Thanks for the music, love that song. 🤚pick a finger
I didn't think I could appreciate you more, but this goose & goslings story pushed it up another notch. I'm thrilled to hear Maureen's back is considered a total recovery! Amazing. 🙂 I'm glad he assessed Maureen's shoulder too & is satisfied it's 'tentatively' on the mend. No surgery. We are granted small mercies, eh? Thanks for the trip down memory lane with Mexico. I've learned so much since joining your video odyssey in 2020. Covid did some terrible things. But inspiring you to do this is one of the great things to come from that dark period. ♬🎶😎👍
I’m just trying to draw a visual of casually driving down the street then seeing you wrangling gophers and geese out of the corner of my eye…it’d be one of those “did I just see what I thought I saw???” 😄 Glad your wife is on the mend and doing better!
On so many of these videos that Lee does, you realize how enormously important his bass line creations were to James' music. Should have got co-writing credit on so many songs. Imagine these songs without the iconic bass lines..?! Wonderful
Great news for your home life, Lee! Thanks for saving other members of the animal kingdom! Oh - and thanks for JT! We all love this song, and your bass. So cool - “his body's still shakin' like a live wire” and “don’t wanna talk on the phone”. This song never fails to bring a smile to my face. It’s hilarious and James sounds like he’s having fun singing it! 😊
Bless you Leland, my bearded brother in bass! I'm glad to hear positive news of Maureen! Just wanted to say thank you for being alive in the same time of this planet as I am. I am truly a lucky man! Rock on brother!
Hi Leland. It would have been great to see you play with James at Auckland, NZ the other night. It was a great gig. What a band he had with him. I didn't know his bass player, but he was good too. It was great to finally get to a JT gig. I've loved his music since, forever. Mudslide Slim was my first album of his. He's still got the voice, and a keen sense of humour. Maybe if he comes to New Zealand again, you can be with him. All the best 👍 Grant
Good news for Maureen, she is a trooper, and will get some great uplifting news one of these days. You are doing the right thing, Leland, stay home and take care of your household! Love and Peace!
Way to save the gopher and the goose and the babies!!! You made my day hearing that story. You have a great heart. Love hearing you play,!Mexico is such a great tune. Thanks for sharing
Hey there, Lee and all! Dang! You are beset with critters! I had a similar experience a few days ago with a gosling (the bird, not the actor) who wandered into the street. I managed to scoop the little critter into my car's cargo net and got as close as I could to the parents without getting attacked. The family was reunited in the end.
i'm glad to hear your wife is recovering as well as she can. Mexico is a perfect example of another gem you've play bass on ,it's a very popular song thanks for playing the bass on this video.
You know Mr Sklar , I believe that you and especially your wife's luck shall be taking a nice ,nice turn for the better after hearing your kind story regarding the Mother Goose and her 6 Goslings . Both of you have had the most horrendous time of it lately ,directly and indirectly , so I have a good feeling things shall be much better for your family . The compassion you showed those defensless little animals in guiding them to safety ,deserves every good fortune coming your way . A proper ,honest to god feel good story ,sadly so rare nowadays . Your video channel is exquisite.Very best wishes to you and Mrs Sklar .
Glad the family is doing well! I would love to hear the story behind that bass. Thanks for helping the critters. Huge fan forever. Glad I found your YT!
My older sister had the Gorilla album, back in the 70s, and when she was not around and I played her LPs, this song is one that I often listened to. The line "I never really been but I'd sure like to go" always made me smile. Good to learn about Maureen's good progress. Greetings from Tijuana, Mexico.
This song can put a smile on your face and make you want to dance around no matter what kind of day you are having... even though the lyrics are a bit sad oddly enough!
Great news! I'm glad no surgery for her ☆ You're a busy guitar man☆ Thanks for the play☆ sounding great! The Baked Potato ~ wow haven't been there in a very long 😂time ~ Have a great time 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Fantastic Lee! I'm seeing JT at the Hollywood Bowl at the end of the month. I was hoping you were going to be with him but no luck there. I know it'll be a great show anyway.
Sir Lee, Good afternoon! Great News on Maureen that is truly amazing. Thank you for taking care of mother goose and family, some people just don’t understand and just have zero patience or even care to help at all. JT music and play along was fantastic. Have a great afternoon and evening! Jack
@@FranktheCrankNY 😎👍 Thanks Frank... But WHAT tornadoes...? Where I live now...have never seen a twister...knock on wood👍👍 Back in Wisconsin, as a kid, there was a tree that I loved to climb when high winds were up. It was flexible, but strong enough to keep from snapping. That thing would bend and sway so far...great feeling...!!!😉👍👍 😎✌👍❤🖖
I'm so excited to get to see James Taylor in my hometown of Nashville on June 12th!! Wish you were there but I'm also looking forward to hearing and seeing Jimmy Johnson!! A big thank you to my daughter DeeAnna for treating me!! It will be a Daddy Daughter event and a first for seeing Mr. Taylor and Band!!
“Look at Mother Nature on the run in the 1970’s “ ( what ?? It’s not the 1970’s ) - god bless you Lee - what a kind soul you are - thank you for the updates and the music 🙏🌏✌️🎶🎼🎸⚡️⚡️💥💥⚡️⚡️🎶🎶🎼🙏
Scary stuff on the goslings, but very encouraging news on Maureen's health. The Lyle Lovett tour has me pumped. I hope to see you somewhere in New England ~ if there's a corresponding tour date. Thanks for the tune, Lee. Rosemary Butler, what can you say? Fantastic vocalist is she! 😉
You have a huge heart Lee and it is uplifting to hear great news about Maureen who has been in our thoughts and prayers. The news of the gopher and the geese is touching and those stories are few and far between. Soothing to take time out from everything and take respite enjoying memories with you all. 🖖✌️👌
That is good news for Maureen & you.Thankyou for looking after the geese & gopher.great piece of music of JT.Hugs & flowers to you both & the puppies♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️🌷🌻
Great news about Maureen. Some interesting Mother Goose moments! Let’s hope that you are ok for the summer tour in June. You are right about putting Maureen first. People understand. Great music, thanks. Happy times are coming!
Seeing you play the bassline to this song has given me a new appreciation for it! Awesome!! I want to be like you when I grow up Mr Sklar!! Hope everything keeps going well!!
@@lelandsklar6363 When she chased my bud, he was laughing and freaking as she snapped at him. They have a good-sized head... I bet her jaws are formidable... "Bite" marks would be nasty. Yipes
I just watched a video of James Taylor on the Guitarist channel where he mentioned you. I am a big fan and would love to meet you in person someday. I live in the Ozarks in southwest Missouri so the odds of our paths crossing might seem impossible, I would still like to keep you on my bucket list. You are an amazing man and an incredible musician. All the best to you and your family.
Great positive news for Maureen particularly and to you of course Lee, best wishes to you both. Glad to have a bit of Mexico from Stringbean, after only having recently play in Melbourne. His show was brilliant and he could even get a gig as a standup comedian as he had the crowd laughing so much, what an evening.
