I lost count on how many “Honor Killings” documentaries I’ve watched and never understood how people would do such a thing to their own family. I was born in Baghdad, Iraq my family moved to America I was 2 years old and my sister was 40 days old my parents were strict on us growing up we weren’t able to go anywhere without my mother but after we graduated high school our parents let us go out and enjoy life our 4 younger siblings were born here in the States and never had to deal with the rules us older 2 sisters did. My Parents raised all 6 of us in traditional (Catholic) Iraqi Culture but with freedom. ❤️

Honestly, honor killing has nothing to do with Islam. I used to live in India and there are many cases of honor killing carried out not just by Muslims but also people following other religions in the country like Hinduism and Sikhism (you can check our Indian cases if you want). Something is just wrong with people who think it's okay to kill their daughters just because they apparently did something that is not according to their idea of an ideal daughter. This isn't about religion.

The papers are all filled with cases of honor killings in all religions including Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians etc. I can't list all but the recent high profile Arushi Murder Case is an example; the execution of Nitish Katara is another. Manoj and Babli is a third one. None of them are Muslims yet were killed in the name of honor. Use Google to search more if you want. Just because you don't know doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Whether you use caste as the reason or not wearing a hijab, both are reason why their family members thought they dishonored their name. And what you are still doing is being ignorant. I'm not a muslim, but I'm happy for muslim people that imans like that one in the video exist. I have muslim friends and I also see a lot of muslims that follow their religion, but are nice to each other, to others and respect women. I mean, just because their beliefs are different from mine, I don't (and I or anyone else shouldn't) disrespect them. Those who commit crimes should be the ones to judge, not all muslims in general.

u know what Chilly, im 56, raised christian armenian and im at a place in my life where I am not sure IF there IS an afterlife. Humans simply assume there is due to brainwashing since birth. There is absolutely no proof of what transpires from the moment we breathe our last. This revelation I so deeply believe in has saddened me, but it is not like I can flip a switch and go back to a time of my former beliefs. in my journey i have learned that horrible things happen and if there were a loving diety, these horrors would not occur. I know if I were God, I would make sure that none of my creatures fell victim to harm. I will always say I dont know the reason for our existence, how we got here and if some kind of consciousness lives on after our body dies. Life is a mystery and people are divided in what they believe to be true. Maybe we are not supposed to know. As a child borne into a Christian family, you probably listen to the story of Noah, Moses, and Jesus like it is fictional. The problem is they tell it like a Cinderella story. But it is not all that bad because you have the freedom to choose, question and find answer. If you do some research, you will find facts that links up to those stories that what we regard as history (Not fictional but a record of what happened in the past.) Question yourself logically along the way. If miracles happened, surely there are eyes that sees and mouth that speaks. Is Miracle Science? Why would anyone spread a story? What is their intention? Why are so many sharing the same story? Why would a non-believer become a believer? Keep an open mind and heart as you seek for answers. When you're desperate enough to find out, you'll definitely find the answer. I found that answer when I was drowning in a pool. No human came to my rescue. I was 7-year old and was fortunate enough to have thought "who is God" and "if there is God..." as I tried drinking up those water with my small belly. I didn't believe in any religion. I only knew what my grandparents, parents, and siblings told me. Raised by two kind and humble Buddhist grandparents and my Christian parents, I was introduced to Buddha and Jesus. What probably saved me was the thought of "if there is God, then rescue me from this". Guess who saved me? While thinking to myself as I drown, I thought that was it. No one is coming to my rescue. My heavy legs and lids gave-in, until a painful bright light shine on my eyes and a voice calling me to open my eyes and peddle my legs one last time. As I struggled with my physical strength, it promised me I'll be okay. Here I am today, writing this on youtube. LOL. I hope you don't give up until you truly done what you could for yourself and since you thought of the what if there's no after life, for a moment, think about what if there is? Culture issue? People like them are probably cultured to think the father have the authority over the lives of their children or wives. Who is God in their eyes I ponder. Go to Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iran and you will know how backwards their laws are (They are all "ISLAMIC REPUBLICS").The law states that if a family member brings "shame" to you or other family members then you are allowed to KILL that person. Its really sad because you cannot be convicted for murder if you partake in a honour killing or if you do, the punishments are very light. This is really messed up as the same countries have laws giving the death penalty for killing a human being. These laws were put into place because of the culture of these people, NOT ALL OF THE PEOPLE but it has to be the majority otherwise the law would not have been passed by the government. I don't hate the people of these countries but I sure do hate their "Islamic laws".And btw this is coming from a muslim who wants these islamic republics to turn into secular countries as they function way better.

Religion should not be related to killings. there is no religion in this world who teach it's believers to kill. It's just that there are people who acquired evil minds due to some aspects like peers, culture and family. There in no honor in killing.
