Two weeks! That must be a record. I’m not a business owner but even I know about having a contingency budget. How many staff did they employ? The owner should of worked there for a couple of weeks at least to see how busy it would be and how many staff would be needed.

I think she might have meant two weeks after she was hired.

This happened to me in 2004. The owner gambled everything away. That's what the police told all of the brides. We didn't get anything back. The owner emptied out the store before anyone knew anything. So no bride was able to even get a sample dress.

Interesting they hired you when the shop is closing down. Seems like to sort out the mess.

The manager was as surprised (and upset) as I was at the announcement.

I am so sorry you lost your mom young and then the patriarchy did you dirty like that, but I bet you were still a beautiful bride...congratulations on 45 years! 22 years for us last weekend, and I also ended up getting married in a borrowed wedding dress (but because my mother, who now has been gone almost a decade, was unable to make the one she promised from the materials she had had me buy for her -- honestly, between her declining health and the struggle she always had had with deadlines, I should have known better, but she was my mom so I wanted to believe the best). It was not what I'd had in mind, but it fit and belongs to a delightful friend whom I still love all these years later, so there's that. Wishing you peace and many more years of wedded bliss.❤

I think it's because they normally do several fittings after making the dress especially because the measurements are taken months in advance and people's bodies change.

Wedding gowns and bridesmaids dresses are ordered with your measurements, but they take about 6 months to arrive. Therefore, they normally need a bit of alterations done before the big day, so they fit perfectly!

True but keep in mind that she was in a situation where she put money down on a dress and the store closed. She can’t get a refund, her dress is gone and she has to spend more money and time on another dress less than two months from her wedding. It adds stress and headache to her existing problems.

Either she lost weight or the other store measured incorrectly.

She has to alter the dress. The dress she bought is not custom to her. This is how bridal stores make money. You pay for alterations on top of the dress you ordered

​@@kays3956but this was HER dress. That the other salon placed the order for her using her measurements. So since Randy found the dress the other salon ordered for her it's supposed to fit. So I'm assuming what probably happened is she lost weight or the other salon submitted incorrect measurements

@nikitatrisha1616 hi, this is the first time she put on the dress. There are bound to be alterations, whether it is custom to her or otherwise. Secondly, I don't think this is a custom dress as most wedding designs shipped to bridal salons at standard sizes. Unless you paid for customization or couture. Do correct me.

They still need adjustments or most likely she may have lost some weight.

So you’d be perfectly fine if you ordered a wedding dress and found out that the store closed and you lost both your deposit and dress? And that you have to spend more money on a dress and you have less than three weeks? It adds stress and headache to your existing problems. And again you’re out thousands of dollars that you can’t get back AND you’re not getting what you paid for! And you have to spend MORE money!
