7:49 The Shovel handle AK is actually a well known meme in the gun community. There was a guy who turned a shovel into an AK receiver just to prove how easy to produce an AK is. On top of that, I can tell you first hand from doing a couple combat tours in the USMC that AKs out in the wild do in fact end up with parts missing, usually the dust cover. But yes, Bugthesda did mess up which side the receiver is on in a lot of guns. Then again, maybe they didn't? Fallout is an alternate reality so I don't really sweat it.
So, some commentary on the designs of weapons in games like this, starting with the left-handed ejection ports. This first became a prominent detail in Battlefield 2 which moved the franchise from its WWII era (1942) and its sequel, Battlefield: Vietnam, bringing it into the modern era, especially with the expansion and console port, Battlefield 2: Modern Combat. It was where the fans began to notice that weapons had their ejection ports on the left sides of the receivers. When asked why this was happening, the developers admitted that they just wanted to show off the ejection animation more directly, especially when hip-firing the weapons, so they put the port on the left side so players would see it. Since then, it's slowly become more popular to do this in first-person games for that very reason. Does it make the game better? No. Does it harm immersion? Not much, but over time, it can become more and more noticeable, leading to distractions, so many would actually argue yes, it does harm immersion, though only really in the long haul. As for weapons being based on real weapons rather than being 1:1 recreations, this is most commonly attributed to copyright and licensing. Many games do not want to pay to license the likenesses of copyrighted designs and trademarked names, and so will instead create fictional approximations with the vague silhouettes of real weapons in order to avoid having to pay extra. Other games pride themselves on real weapons, and so will pay out the nose to use real weapon likenesses as an investment into the product. For a company like Bethesda, who have lost their biggest line of support over the last decade thanks to fans' negative reactions to re-releasing Skyrim for people to buy one more Todd-damn time,, and the absurdity of their insistence on monetizing user-created mods through the Creation Club- fun fact, to buy everything, you'd need to pay about $220 USD, on top of the game itself, and its DLC, and Skyrim SE's CC content is about $120- they can't justify licensing the likenesses of real firearms in games like Fallout 4 and 76 because it'd cost way too much money; more money than they saved by underpaying the guy who played Kellogg by not telling him he had a leading role as the secondary BBEG, and primary call to action for the main character. Note that if you made it through all of that, it should be pretty obvious I'm not defending the practice of what they did when designing these weapons. I'm not defending inaccurate designs on real weapons, nor am I defending designing these Frankenstein's Firearms in the name of saving a few bucks. I'm just explaining the common reasons that developers have stated themselves that they do these things.
For the hand made Rifle i rather use HRE or Handmade Rifle exstention as it adds in a ton of new parts based off alot of other Klashnikov style rifles.
Great video. Definitely gonna start using some of these mods. Personally though, I prefer zestoflemon’s Deliverer mods. Right now I’m using their BF1 Deliverer mod since I’m no longer using Tactical Reload. The Laser Rifle Reanimation mod is great. But last I checked, the problem with it is that the 1st person power armor footsteps are sped up. Lots of weapons mods have this power armor fast running bug, unfortunately this is one of them.
Wow a great collection of mods and a great video. This was the exact collection of mods I wanted to put together. I have always preferred a vanilla+ approach to modding, I usually do not go for the great big overhaul type mods. I like enhancing what is already there.
Amazing! I always prefer vanilla weapons and lore friendly weapons, now I will download some animation mods, thank you! But I think you maybe missed a animation mod which changes the vanilla assault rifle animation to more modern style(more “COD” maybe), it’s made by the same author who made the lase weapon animation in your video, maybe you don’t like that style?
Thank you! Yes I know that animation replacer indeed, but I only implemented mods I use by myself and I really don't like the assault rifle at all. There are more mods that I could cover in one video so maybe I'll do a second part in the future!
Really like the list, except I cannot use that laser reanimation. Why does the power/safety switch cycle like a fixed charging handle? There's no bolt cycling!
idk if someone has already asked this but does the handmade revolver (replacer version) work with the pipe rifle retexture pack shown in the video? i would like to install both and i was wondering if it would cause any problem.
I use Pigness handmade weapons, you need to download all the packs along with a sorter to draft then, the pack includes a stealth pack, assault pack, bullpup, tinkers ray gun, shotguns, heavy weapons. the retexturing shows what pipe weapons could have been if done right, they are crude, use all vanilla assets and dlc assets to make real crude weapons. the select pack is also good and cones with mini missions to lots on them, you get a select revolver, shotgun, smg, heavy shotty, rifle. the animations are great. to replace vanilla weapons I either use nina's pipe weapons overhauls or post apocalyptic pipe guns and laser musket overhauls., the laser musket is patched to work with better cranks to make them use no ammo, it is the best looking musket yet. to replace the machine gun I use degenerate daks redone assault weapon and the combat weapon redux. to add more machine guns I added the m60, RPD and FG-42. I use all 1950s weapons or prior to keep thematic, tactical weapons break the games feel. this is why I like lots of homemade and crude weapons. in 2023 people should be using caliber complex and real time penetration framework, and the vanilla ammo penetration patch to make the game feel modern
I really like your accent, where are you from? Also, about the shovel-stock on the HMAR; it's based on a modification a Reddit user made to his AK by using the grip of a shovel as a stock, and he even crafted the lower-receiver's frame out of the shovel head, too.
@@thatMPSG I was thinking so, as you pronounced the Volkssturmgewehr in a way I've never heard. I've always wanted to visit Germany and learn German, too.
@@andreceras5745 That's how it's pronounced ^^ You could visit the capital or, my suggestion, a more rural area like in the south or north. Learning German is quite hard for foreigners, espeacially the pronunciation, tho.
@@thatMPSG I've been using Duolingo, I'm only really messing up the der die and das. Thanks for the recommendations, I'll probably never be able to afford going to Europe, but thanks!
I don't use the laser weapons in FO4. They all feel too lightweight giving the impression there not doing a whole lot. That laser rifle @ 6:00 is dope. I don't pay any attention to the " laser gun recoil " argument. Where's all the tri-beam mods anyway?
Never liked laser weapons too much as well, but those are one of the best animations I've ever seen. Yes the laser recoil is just for more immersion ^^ I'm seeing the tri-beam laser more as a standalone weapon that comes to look like the vanilla laser rifle.
@@thatMPSG Werent laser in this game making a split faction? The other say laser shouldnt have a recoil like that. Iam not joking try the automatic barrel with spillter muzzle, and the gun just instantly go to sky. While other say the laser should be like that.
What I mean is in N.V. with all the attachments... The tri-beam becomes a "3-shot". There were very few enemies that could survive past 2 pulls of the trigger. But... F.O.4 has that splitter barrel. 😒(sarcastically) that's great. Instead of splitting the beam, they should have added more of them.
Purple textures always mean that there is no texture file, meaning there’s something missing in your files. It could be a corrupted mod file or you or other mods messed something up. My first suggestion would be just reinstalling or redownloading the mod.
@@thatMPSG agreed, just like how people think a short version of the assault rifle looks weird, it looks weird but looks better than the elongated Lewis gun barrel, though I do want the other classic guns back as mods or vanilla items.
What is the mod of the first gun in the video? That one on the intro. And how to reduce the damage to have to shoot more to kill an enemy with a mod weapon? Like that giant you killed, for me is a huge turn off killing everything with one shot at lv1
It's the "MW- AS Val". You can set up a damage modifier in the weapons workbench with many wepon mods nowadays. If you want to change the damage and ballistics of the entire game I recommend to check out my "Gunplay and Ballistics" guide on my channel!
@@thatMPSG Thanks! I just downloaded your preset including the other mods needed. But for some reason, when I try to load your preset, mine looks different...
@@thatMPSG seems I got it worked :) Tried to make a new profile in Vortex, and have only the mods necessary for this preset. Seems that my previous issue was from my other mods
hello i have a question i am thinking of getting this mod but do i also need to download .44 retexture mod or just the bf4 revolver animation mod and what is the id for the revolver thanks
Been skipping around here and there, but was there ever a reason why Fallout 4 has all the weird crap on the left side? I like to use the hunting rifle alot, and the bolt on the left side bothers me so much. Thank god for the modding community.
The N1 reason games do that is because of visibility. They want you to see all the important parts of the weapon that wouldn’t be visible when they were on the right side.
Yeah ngl the pistol section just seems like an excuse to make Fallout 4 more "tactical" (Eugh) the Tommy Gun mod doesn't improve, it replaces, and the Radium Rifle doesn't have ANY textures? None of these guns have any addons either? Thanks for the mods, but this video is clickbait, at least to me as someone who wants to improve the vanilla weapons instead of installing "Modern Warfare AS VAL 4k (TACTICAL RELOAD SUPPORT)"
Thanks for your comment. This video is about making vanilla weapons more immersive. Improvement also can be achieved by better textures, animation and sound, not only by modifying damage and addons.
@Flamedramon68 The vanilla 10mm is unnecessarily large, so the 10mm Anims mod remedies that by scaling it down and adding on new animations. How is that an excuse to make Fallout 4 more “tactical”? The vanilla .44 revolver is stuck in single-action, and when reloading it, your character somehow just always shoves all six rounds right into the cylinder simultaneously with their bare hands, no speed loader. The BF4 44M mod fixes both of these issues while adding on new sounds and recoil, although it still always reloads six rounds regardless of how many were fired. How is that an excuse to make Fallout 4 more “tactical”? The Thompson SMG Replacer mod *is* an improvement. The vanilla SMG and the mod are both meant to be the same weapon, the Tommy Gun-and the mod is by far a better representation of the Tommy Gun, or more accurately, the M1A1. The vanilla SMG has glaring issues like how it’s left-handed and noticeably bulkier than the real Thompson, while also lacking several prominent details. By default, it comes with a very odd and stubby stock and a tiny drum magazine that somehow stores 50 rounds. It’s also missing options for a stick magazine and a foregrip. The “Recoil Compensating Stock” has no visual difference from the “Full Stock”. The TSR mod fixes all that while adding on a Nydar Gun Sight - a commercial reflex sight dating back to the 1940s; marketed for use on hunting shotguns. Personally though, I prefer the M1928A1 Thompson - Day of Infamy mod. Actually, the Radium Rifle mods mentioned in the video do indeed have textures. New ones, in fact, along with new meshes and sounds. Not sure what you’re talking about. The title of this video is “17 Mods to Improve Vanilla Weapons”. Literally nothing about that is misleading or exaggerated, since that’s exactly what the video is about. Do you see an AS VAL 4k mod anywhere? Because I sure don’t. I’m super curious. What mods do you use to improve the vanilla weapons?
@@courier8365 Oooooooooof here's the obligatory paragraph of text Mods I use are stuff like Satojomov Armory, Commonwealth Gunfire Overhaul, Wardaddy's reload animations (Most of them, anyway, no matter what I do the submachine gun is always broken -_-) Assault Rifle Add ons, CR and Shotgun addons. Those are improving vanilla weapons in my opinion, instead of replacing them. They're not bad designs, I even like the "abomination" that is the Assault Rifle™ Don't get me wrong, these mods are fine for some people, I'm not one of them
@@flamedramon68 Fair enough. Those are some pretty great mods. I’ve enjoyed using Commonwealth Gunfire Overhaul before, but recently switched over to FO4R - Gun Sound Overhaul, which essentially achieves the same thing, but is in my opinion, a far better mod. Seriously, check that mod out if you haven’t. I also use some of Wardaddy’s mods, and if you haven’t already, check out his Weapon Equip Animation Replacers mod. I’m glad to see that someone else actually likes the vanilla Assault Rifle. It has a horrible design and is an abomination, but something about it just seems cool to me. I do however use Dak’s Assault Rifle Replacer REDUX along with Assault Rifle Reanimated mod though. But before I ever used those mods, I used the vanilla AR extensively, automatic version with a suppressor. Super satisfying. I also highly recommend Institute Weapons Debulked and Dak’s Immersive Combat Rifle Overhaul, and Spitfire (Enhanced Muzzle FX). dpillari’s weapon retexture mods are also a must have. You should also check out gmoi6’s retexture mods.
@@courier8365 Thanks for being civil with your response, that comes few and far between in comments nowadays 👍 Honestly, it never really bothered me to see that it's "replaced." Don't get me wrong, if it irks some people they 100% should be allowed to replace it with other stuff, but I'm not bothered by it being an abomination. Hell, it makes me love it even more that way, though I do have AR Reanimation installed because it actually uses the charging handle lol I love Dak's CR, especially when you find Weapon mods that are compatible with it (without patches at least) I'll look into those! Just gotta see if they're on console, since I'm that type of gamer. I am considering switching to pc though if I scrounge enough money, since there's tons of mods and custom stuff.
