We used the phrase where I grew up in Georgia for the rain. Not so much for the snow since we only had snow about once or twice a year. I don't think I've ever seen a sunny snow day. There the snow day or days were grey and dull.
Hi Allison, I always get a kick out of the sun streaming through the snow when it happens. Beautiful. If you don't mind, what was your favorite area of Georgia. My son lives in Atlanta and we've only really been there. We'd like to explore more. Stone Mountain was very nice.
@@YOUandMaine that's a good question. There's a lot of things to do on the north side of town. Dunwoody, Roswell, Sandy Springs. So if you like dining or shopping go there. We lived in McDonough for a long time. Very small. Not much to do but lots of land, cows, old architecture. I wouldn't suggest it as a place to visit for fun. Maybe when you visit him you all could take a trip to Helen? It's a good place to try.
Right between 'keag and 'pitlock stands the town of Macwahoc. Ma-quore-hawk, often pronounced by flatlanders as mac-wa-hoc! I just found your channel the other day and am enjoying it. Have you done a video on the names of the lakes and streams? I got one, Caucomgomoc Lake: coc-m'gomic
Wow what a great idea. I will definitely do a pond and lake video, but will absolutely need help. I grew up in Bridgton and being the world’s worst fisherman haven’t experienced many of the lakes. Thank you for the tip and insight.
I was born in Texas but I was always told about the Devil beating his wife. I want to think you for your videos. I had a issue pronouncing Linneus Maine, I was saying Linus. Lol
I’ve heard that saying out west. But then there are a few New England transplants out there. I have heard some of our place names butchered like Sepulveda, Cahuenga and Port Hueneme. Betcha can’t pronounce that last one! It’s “wye nee mee”
Hey Andey, thanks for watching. I almost got the last one. There is a department in Guatemala called Huehuetenango that is close - Waywaytenago is how that goes.
I'm from Southern Maine and what I always get picked on for is saying "hut" instead of hot and "huspidal" instead of hospital... Pupcorn too... Is this just a southern Maine thing?
It depends, I grew up in Bridgton and there are areas of South Portland AND Lewiston that sound just like Boston. The accents vary incredibly across the State. Northern Maine has two completely different accents, both completely different from Southern Maine.
Hi Helen, thanks for watching. I did cover Levant in this video on my other channel- What is going on in Levant, Maine? Let me show you why. In 4K ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9XY4ITF9Fvk.html Sheepscot is a good one 👍🏻
