Thanks, Aki. I really like your videos. Last Summer I drove my camper van to Germany, for the first time. I had problem with my bike, so I were surching for a bike work shop..in Frankfurt. It took me a lot of hours extra, because I couldn't find the street at first. If you are visiting Germany I can recommend the coast amongst Nordsee
Paris is famous for not being the cleanest capital city, yet to be fair as you arrived there after New Year's Eve, I lived for 4 years in Berlin and it was also quite a mess in the streets on January 1st 😆
that's very nice to see you travelling in France, i hope you enjoyed your stay. Sorry to not have met you during your stay here. I will visit for the second time your beautiful country in a month. I'm eager to visit it!
Oh please come back to Paris! I would love to meet up with you and show you around. I work in the food and beverage industry and I know a lot of cool places to go. So glad you got to go to little Tokyo. You should definitely come back in spring, Paris celebrates sakura here too. And I love matcha, I have everything to make it at home but I am not so good at picking out the matcha itself..
I love your vlogs and I’ve just subscribed yesterday when I see 1 of your vlog. Thank you for sharing your fascinating trip in here too. Paris 🤩 plus Matcha and Japanese stuff are amazing which is not that popular in European cities. ❤
Number 2 is raclette. It's actually a dish from French-speaking Switzerland (hence it's another national dish of Switzerland along with fondue), but the French like to say they invented it...
The door opening has to do with hurricanes. I live in a hurricane prone area and our doors open out. That was it is less likely for the door to be blown open by wind.
Next time you go to Paris, you must meet a friend of mine who is an awesome tour guide. He used to be married to a Japanese woman so he has great affinity for Japan. He also likes to joke that Parisians are rebels about ‘rules’ for traffic and safety 😂. Next time he can take you to to Louvre and introduce you to Mona Lisa-he knows her very well. In America you will also get a tea bag in restaurants unless you specifically go to a tea room. Tea drinkers are few compared to coffee drinkers so we just have the hot water and tea bags available on request. But we love iced tea and you can get that everywhere. Summer would be a good time for you to visit the U.S.! Currently there is a garbage strike on in Paris and the mountains of trash are growing higher and higher. You are fortunate you visited at New Year. The smell must be getting bad now.
@@mmd2035 The Internet is supposed to be about making connections, right? If Matcha wants to meet one of the best tour guides in Paris, I’m happy to make an introduction. That’s a win-win for both guys. Mon ami is also a content creator and it would be hilarious if he appeared in a Matcha video. I think the two would hit it off incredibly well.
Next time you come to France, you can be my guest !!! and maybe I can try matcha that I think I really don't like so you might make me change my mind, who knows ?
5:49 that's kinda a problem :/ for us paris is the capital city of our country and the main job market place too. So the fact that japanese see it as a massive museum explains why the get shocked at the "lively street" side of the city 😣🤭 .
You forgot to mention that France is dirty (Streets have trash on them, and bathrooms in public places are to be avoided.) whereas Japan is ultra-clean. ( Switzerland is much cleaner, though.) Tea in most restaurants and cafés is just colored water. Those who appreciate real tea prepare it at home. You also forgot to mention the graffiti on buildings and walls in France. I have not seen graffiti in Japan. I think the luckiest people in the world are (a) Japanese, because they are born into a culture that values and teaches manners and respect not just in theory, but in practice. Discipline is taught and practiced in Japan. (b) United Kingdom citizens, because of their National Health Service! I don't know how the health care is in Japan (Probably, it is wonderful, but I do not know.) Also, Japan never forced or required anyone to get certain shots these past few years. Japanese government respects the integrity of everyone's body and the shot was optional, not mandatory. What you should be happy about, first and foremost, is that you are a citizen of what is probably the best country in the world, all things considered.
Japanese are like Germans. When traveling they prefer German food abroad.

Ah yes, the tea bags in France. It's quite shocking indeed... Fortunately there are some serious tea houses that prepare things the right way. When you come back to France, I'll show you the good addresses. Take care Aki!
Aki, you are so friendly. I liked how you didn‘tsay a bad word about the macha although it was clear you didn‘t like the taste. I‘m so curious about the next video since Germany is my home country and I grew up near Frankfurt 😊
I love your journey to urope. I am your fan from Taiwan. You can come to Taiwan next time. People in Taiwan are so friendly. I think you will have a lot of fun in Taiwan.
I love how you travel in a kimono (sometimes I wish I could wear one, too, but for a Nordic-looking European that would be sensationally eccentric) and always take your matcha with you. You're like an ambassador of Japanese culture. Btw, your videos inspired me to try matcha, and now I drink it every morning.
Same here, I wish I could wear a kimono too. Its so amazing and so cool, but as a brazilian it would look eccentric. Altough I am really inclined to buy one and start wearing it at home at least haha.
living in Frankfurt Germany I was so surprised! I wish we would have known sooner so we could have a proper meet up! I sense the next time you will be traveling it will be like "SAMURAI MATCHA ON WORLD TOUR"
Same here ❤ just had a baby End of December so I propably would not have made it but still it would have been awesome to speak Japanese again as I lived there 2010😊
I would know something for your stay in germany: ,,100 Things that surprised me in germany..." One of them: Frankfurter station district 😂 But seriously, I recommend that you stay a bit longer in a western country. Otherwise you will always suffer to a total culture shock. I observe the asian cultures from time to time and even if nihon is a part of the western value block, they differ in one point. They have kept still the "old" mindset and polite behavior from the 90s (or earlier). Furthermore the woke culture and anti-woke culture never could establish in japan. Political correctness, the division of the society were also never a problem in japan. In top, there are the general east asian relationships to laws, authorities and rules ( also the inofficial ones), which became more divided from the more disrespectful or critical behavior in the most western countries, of the last 40 years.
@@tanzderritter2201 yeah they have different problems like plastic pollution just like us. guess being woke doesn't solve the problem of ignorance, who would have thought... but hey don't take my word, ask the women who leave the country because of Misogynie or racism. honestly I don't get it why so many conservatives rant about woke ness when in fact we just want everyone to have the same rights while not destroying the planet. which is a mindset my grandmother had. but weirdly nowadays its something "completely new" and "woke". and while we are at it. in the asian countries, actually a lot of them even in Japan this is also a problem.
The cheese in the heating pan is 100% Swiss. Its called raclette and it authorized to make the cheese only in a valley in Switzerland. Tbh even the pan is fake, I it's origin region we take an half cheese and heat it with fire or corde-chauffe. And obviously no meet or other things, the cheese is good, don't need to cover the taste.
If you ever come to Boston, USA I hope we could maybe cross paths! Although I don’t know if you want to visit a city that is famous for throwing tea into the ocean 😆
The « cheese melting machine » is a raclette oven, and the raclette… is a Swiss meal, using the Raclette cheese (initially coming from the Wallis canton of Switzerland)
Yeah…. In France, it’s DIY for the tea….and it’s tea bag. We don’t have tea culture 😂😂😂😂 oulala We don’t care about crosslight 😅… you know… we are so rebel 😅
Hey samurai matcha! Everytime I watch your video, your english is impeccable. Do you know you learn very fast? I always have fun laughing with you! On your journey to France, you had matcha with subscribers and even strangers! It's brave and generous of you. When it's a video of yours, I can just sit back and enjoy! It's a real pleasure!
Thank you so much! I just always make scripts in English that my American friend helps with making:) I'm not a perfect English speaker actually. I hope my pronunciation is getting better:)
What a fun trip! I agree with you; the history of Paris is right out where it can be fully enjoyed. I'd like to go to see the Orangerie and the art in some of the cathedrals. Unfortunately, the Louvre doesn't have week-long camping passes! I'm glad you had fun, can't wait to see Germany!
Wow, this was such an interesting and insightful vlog! It's always fascinating to see different cultures and perspectives, and I loved hearing about the things that surprised you in France as a Japanese person. From the food to the fashion, it's clear that there are many differences between the two cultures, but it's also great to see the similarities and the ways in which people from different backgrounds can connect and appreciate each other's cultures. Thanks for sharing your experiences with us!
👋 from California! What a lovely vlog!! I now drink delicious Matcha every day since watching your matcha video👍👍Paris is so beautiful isn’t it? How did you heat the water for your matcha by the Eiffel Tower? Ill meet you in Paris for matcha adventures 💜
You didn't go inside the Louvre?! What?! You missed seeing just how SMALL the Mona Lisa is! It's the size of a postage stamp. I'm exaggerating, but when I saw it in 1995 I was shocked. I had assumed it was a large painting. Regarding doors, they also open inward in the USA. And, if France's trash in the streets shocked you, you'll be horrified with what we have here in the USA...sigh.
Thanks for making this video and the one about Switzerland! I actually use your videos in my English/culture classes for my Japanese students. I hope you can make more videos like this - I know you went to Canada and other countries too! It's very helpful for education and we enjoy your videos! 😄
Such a fun trip! Hope you get to go to Louvre next time! I learned that there are a lot of Japanese people living in Paris so maybe that’s why the ramen over there is good. 😀 Can’t wait for next video! Hope you come to California sometime! 😊
If you only went to Paris, you might as well stayed at home. France is so much more than that: from the Alps to the Atlantic, From the Pyrenees to Belgium and Germany, from the Vineyards of Bordeaux to the Olive groves in the South, from .. ah well, you must come back and do a proper tour…
What surprised me in France is that the pâté is of very poor quality, not smooth at all, it includes chunks of meat - that is not how a pâté should be like in my view. But I only tried to buy it in supermarkets, maybe there would be more quality in some local produce stores or markets. But in other countries I was buying in supermarkets and it was tasty.
Thank You Aki für Inside! France had changed in the 40 years. The "classical" culture and good restaurants are dying. In the countryside the people are more friendly and more real. But tjey must work hard because of the high taxes. When i was working for frech raulroads some years ago i dreamed to create a very good restaurant with good and fresh products. Very hard to realize. Vive la France!🇯🇵 🇫🇷🇬🇧🇩🇪
Ahhh!!! I am so happy to see you shout out Yame cha! When I lived in Japan as an ALT, I was lucky enough to live in Yame. I still order my tea from there online.
There are 2 reasons why all doors should open out. Fire codesa require them. Imagine a busy theatre on fire. And 2, its a better seal from the elements. cheers.
The Louvre is so big because it was the private residence of the french Kings and their "entourage" before Versailles was bulit by (correct me if I'm wrong) Louis XIV.
Hello my friend come to morocco .it is beautiful country. And clean.moroccain are friendly. You will enjoy it.comt to tangier. North of morocco.i don t have any idea about hotels. Enjoy your trips.
Hi, Aki. May I know the name of the restaurant where you had the delicious ramen? I visit Paris yearly and I wanna know where good Asian food is so that when I crave for it, I know where to go.
In France, we cross even if the light is red when there is no car because we do not want to wait "for nothing". If it is safe to cross, we cross to save time, whatever the color of the light. In Paris, people are always in a hurry. The less we wait, the better.
That video was a lot of fun. ありがとうございます. If you eve come to the UK, let me know. We can have matcha at the meadow with baby cows and swans or the woods with 200 years old trees behind my neighbourhood. Or visit my Japanese sensei who is my neighbour.
Hello I have been following you for some time. I really enjoy your videos. I find you to be open to suprise, a delight to follow and your English has improved a lot. I think by listening to books on tape your use of words, inflection of sounds and general knowledge of English continues to improve. Thanks for all you have taught me. Barbara McAndrews
I've lived in Paris and I LOVE Paris and France in general, culturally very rich, art, music, architecture, food, there are so many things to enjoy in France
