*1. Approximate grabcar fees from the airports to some certain places in Vietnam:* - Ha Noi Airport to the Old Quater: 320,000 vnd - Danang Airport to My Khe beach: 100,000 vnd - HCM Airport to District 4: around 200,000 vnd *2. Withdrawal fees at some ATMs in Vietnam* - My 1st-go-to ATM is still MB (Military Bank). You can withdraw 5M VND/ time with the fee of just 47,000 VND. This is applied for using Visa card. - Techcombank: Fee for Visa/Master Cards 3.3% - Vietcombank: 3,64% - Agribank: 4% - Sacombank: 4% *Say hi to me at MyVietnamDiary@gmail.com* Thank you for watching and have a great trip in Vietnam 🥰
Agribank has charged 22,000 dong for many years. You can take out 3,000,000 dong at almost every Agribank atm. 22,000 divided by 3,000,000 = 0.73% interest. That’s under 1%, folks.
Thanks Paul for sharing 🙏 for some reasons when I checked it, the fee was like that. I will double check it and verify it again at Agribank’s ATM. I will keep everyone updated. I appreciate it 🫶
Great tips! Just came back from our trip and have been posting our vlogs! Also we found that some hotels offer free shuttle service to and from the airport 🤗. And if you're not comfortable driving a motorbike but want the experience, grab offers motorbike rides :)
Hello. Can I use "Wise" Visa Debit Card to pay for hotels, restaurants, taxis in Vietnan ? I heard that CASH is more powerfull than Debit Cards. Thank you for your comments.
Hello Antonio. That's a good question. Basically, you can use visa card to pay for hotels and restaurants as long as they accept card payment. You always get charged from 2% -4% for international card by the restaurant, you can ask the restaurants and hotels if they are charging that fee on top of the normal bill. If they do while you have some cash, just pay for it in cash to save the money. regarding taxis, I always used cash. I used to use taxis, but now I prefer grab car/ bike. (you can download the app "Grab*). You can set up the payment method on the app which is your visa card. Just link it to your grab account. Then whenever you book a grab, choose the payment method that you prefer which "Visa card". Therefore, you dont need to pay the drivers in cash. I attached the link related to "Wise" written by "Wise" here, in case you would like to learn more. wise.com/gb/travel-money/vietnamese-currency Have a good trip in Vietnam 🌷
Hi, Grab pick up location is strictly located at outside Domestic Arrival ? From International Arrival Exit, need to walk quite a bit right? Is there a signage for tourist to follow? Thx
Its true, they make the coffee very sweet in Vietnam. I tried asking the to ake it less sweet or give sugar on the side but soehow it didnt work out and i ket getting the sweet coffee
Great tops! I'm coming from the UK in March, we have 2 weeks so we are doing Ho Chi Minh, Hoi An, Da Nang, Hanoi and a day trip to Ha Long Bay. Is it easy to get insect repellent there? I recently visited Malaysia and their mosquitoes laughed at my extra strength mosquito spray 😂 I have bad reactions to mosquito bites 😢
I am glad that the video is useful for you. 😇 Yes, you can buy the mosquito repellents at most Winmart (a convenience store chain. They have branches in most cities in vietnam). I have bad reactions to them too. I totally can relate. But if you have something good from the UK, just bring it with you. 😅 even tho I have the mosquito repellents on, I still need to do the mosquito dance so they won’t land on me sometimes 😅😅😅
@@MyVietnamDiary thank you! I've made a note in my diary with the convenience store name 😁 they just ignore my UK bought spray so I'll buy when I'm over there 😁😁 x
Hi there. No, it depends on which parts of the country you’re traveling to. Even when during the typhoon season, there are beautiful regions that aren’t affected by the rain. What are the Vietnam places on your bucket list? Let me take a look then I will give you my thoughts.
Xin chào. As a tourist, I prefer staying it District 1 because it's close to famous destinations such as Notre Dame Cathedral of Saigon, Ho Chi Minh City Central Post Office, Ben Thanh Market, Independence Palace, Bitexco landmark, Bui Vien Street.... Regarding the water/amusement park, tbh, I have tried them in HCM. So I don't want to recommend you something that I don't know. But my favorite one in Vietnam so far is Vinwonders in Hoi An. Fun water actitivities with friends and family (children), lazy river, Safari.... If you are visiting Danang/ Hoi An, I recommend you to try VinWonders Nam Hoi An. I attached their website here so you can take a look vinwonders.com/en/vinwonders-nam-hoi-an/ Have a good trip in Vietnam
Hello. Booster Shot is NOT needed and you DON’T have to have a vaccination certification with you. you just need a visa to enter Vietnam if you are not from the countries that are eligible for free visa. You can also apply for an e visa with the government at xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn
Hi Joseph. Thank you for the question. In big cities like Hanoi, HCM, the most popular 24/7 store like 7 even is Circle K. In danang, especially in An Thượng area, there are Full-market, K-mart and some other mini Marts that you can easily find on the maps.
You might experience lots of water on the street at some sections during that month. But there are always pros and cons. And really it depends on what you are looking for. However, other parts of Vietnam are still sunny with blue skies during June.
Hello David, are you planning to move here? I have seen people playing pickleball in danang, but I am not sure where they get the paddle from. It’s not popular in Vietnam yet (as far as I have known)
@@MyVietnamDiary Thank you for replying. I am visiting VN for two months in Oct/Nov. to see if I want to retire there. I'm starting in Hanoi and working my way down but will most likely pass HCMC, just to big. Thank you again.
Hey, loved your video 😊 my husband and I are planning to visit Vietnam for 2 weeks . My husband wants to do shopping and I want to relax in restore and do some activities as I’m pregnant. Any suggestions where we should go ? Thanks
I have 1 more question.. I have taken my e-visa in which my arrival place is shown as Hanoi. The flight ticket i booked has a layover in HCMC for 1hr and then leaves to Hanoi. Hence i wanted to check will my visa be considered invalid?
Xin Chào from India! 🙏 You've shared great tips, I'm visiting Vietnam soon. This video just popped up at the right time in my RU-vid feed. 😀 I've got some questions, please guide me if possible ☺️ 1. I have watched lots of video about buying sim cards, there're mixed reviews. Some were saying not to buy one in airport while some blogs are saying it'd be great to buy sim from the airport. Please guide me what'll be better. I'll be entering Vietnam through Saigon. 2. Will there be any communication issues when booking a Grab cab? I'm currently learning Vietnamese and I know hardly a few words like thành phố, nhà, sách, xe hơi, ngân hàng, and some phrases like cảm ơn, vui lòng and tạm biệt. 3. Do I need to purchase any travel insurance to enter Vietnam? I have found some vloggers who are saying it's mandatory while some are saying it's not. Please guide me with this. It'd be great if you please help me with these questions ☺️☺️
Namaste from Vietnam ❤️ I am glad that the video is useful for you. Regarding to your questions, I have the answer below. 😇 1. It’s ok to buy it at the airport. The first thing I recommend you to have after landing in a Vietnam. The price should be around 200k (or something ) for a Viettel SIM card. You can use it for one month. You should have 4GB of internet every day (if I remember it right. But basically it’s more than my normal than my data plan that I have been using for years. Mine is just 2GB/ day). Personally, I think it’s a reasonable price for a sim card tourists. We have purchased it for my boyfriend at the airport one time. After that, we just top it up every time he comes back to Vietnam. 😇 2. No, if they text you. If you talk to them in person, having Google translate available would be wise. As not many of them can speak english well. Once you book the grab in Vietnam. They will know that you are not Vietnamese by your name, so they will text you in English. Stick to Viettel Simcard only. They have the best internet connection. 3. It’s not mandatory for you to have a travel insurance to enter Vietnam. however, for your safety and benefit, having a travel insurance is a wise choice. I do have insurance in Vietnam too. We never know when we will need it. I hope this helps ❤️ Have a good trip in Vietnam 🫶
Btw, sending you my respect for learning some basic Vietnamese words. 💚 you will be able to connect with the locals a lot better by using some basic phrases such as Cảm ơn, Tạm biệt, ngon (delicious), nhà vệ sinh (toilet), không đường (no sugar). We appreciate your effort ❤️ Sending you my best wishes from Vietnam.
I'm extremely thankful for your help 😀❤️I'll keep all the points you mentioned in mind. 😌😌 I'm currently learning Vietnamese in Drops app and just completed level 3 today 😀 hopefully I'll learn some more Vietnamese vocabulary until my visit ☺️
Depending on what country you're in and what side of the road you are driving on you must confirm whether you're left handbrake or your right handbrake controls the back. If you hit the one that goes to the front you might topple over and these motorcycles sometimes are made in China sometimes they're made in Thailand or other countries. Do check it out before you hit the brakes.
Is it better to withdraw VND from ATM with debit card ( no fee?) than credit card ( with fees from your credit card and from ATM means twice? Thanks @myVietnamdiary
hi, thanks for the video. would u give me some information about DaNang& HoiAn. the weather in july ? coz i plan to go there in this month, what outfit should i bring? and as a moslem, do u know where & what resto for halal food i can find in that city? thankyou so much
Hello, I am glad that you find it useful. Do you have the exact dates coming here yet? Currently, it’s sunny during the day, just rains for an hour in the afternoon. If you do travel to the north of Vietnam this month, I suggest you to look at the weather forecast. As there might be a typhoon coming there. There are Muslim friendly restaurants in danang and Hoi an. I am pretty sure you can find them everywhere. There are vegetarian restaurants in both places too. Regarding clothes, probably the clothes with fabric that are suitable for the hot weather here. 🤗 beautiful skies and the nice beaches in danang and Hoi an are waiting for you this July (except for the exceptional 😅 on some days)
Hi, Im coming from India using a E-visa. Ticket and visa is taken to Hanoi. I wanted to check if i want to fly from Hanoi to Da nang, can i go by flight? Or will that not be allowed as im a foreigner
Great tips. Regarding to prices.. on markets there are not price tags, always ask :) and in big cities, locals were always helpful with crossing streets 😅 , we were obviously struggling, and they always come to help, it was very nice.
@@MyVietnamDiary Hey! Yes I rented a scooter for around a week in Ninh Binh and then 3 weeks in Da Nang. It was certainly an unforgettable experience 😁
Depending on what you are interested in 😇 my favorite city is Danang. You can check out my instagram for danang daily updates. I really love everything here beach, food, people, bars… you can connect with me on instagram for daily updates from danang 😇
You can get a viettel SIM card at the airport. It’s 10usd for one. The sim card will be valid for 1 month and everyday you get 4GB to access to the internet.
Hi @PattayaMD . Which country are you from? Maybe I can give you a better advice after knowing that because the Vietnam visa regulation is applied differently for each region/ country. For example, if you are from Thailand, you don’t need a visa to visit vietnam. Or, if you’re from America or UK, you can get a one month tourist e-visa after 3-5 working days since the online application submission. In the meantime, this is the official website of Vietnam’s immigration ministry where you can apply for an evisa and find other information. xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn/en
The first mass-conversion of surnames took place during the 1230s when the Ly dynasty was overthrown by the Tran dynasty. In order to remove the Ly name from existence, those with the name were forced to change to Nguyen (the reason as to why Nguyen was chosen specifically is unknown). [From google]
Good points, thank you -- but you missed an important one. I lost over $5,800 by hiring the wrong tour company. I hired a Texas-based tour company that takes Vietnam Veterans to battlefield sites in Vietnam; we stayed in city hotels. One site (Phou Nhoi) I requested, where 34 of my Marine brothers died, required a permit. They knew before we left the USA that we would never see that site because they never got the permit. They blamed the Vietnam military when we were escorted away from the area. It took an investigation by Ambassador Marc Knapper of the U.S. Embassy in Hanoi, Vietnam to expose their lie. This tour company advertises in the military magazine Vietnam and only prints positive reviews making it easy for me to trust. My 55-year dream of honoring my friends, who gave their lives, was forever destroyed.
Omg this is the worst. I can feel how you feel. Those tour companies don’t understand how important it is for you. And may your brothers rest in peace. Sending you my condolences and hugs 💚
@@MyVietnamDiary Thanks. I do not know the rules of RU-vid whether I can name the company. My hero is a Vietnamese interpreter (Ms. Halan TamTran) who risked her job by informing me, after the Vietnamese Military kicked us out, that the company was lying to me. Her friend, a Vietnamese General, did an investigation that day and told her. I have no idea how many Vietnam Veterans have been scammed but I do not believe I was the first or the last.
Thankyou for ur content it's very helpful. I wanna go to dalat and hochiminh on October. It is good for outdoor activities? I just want to know the weather in there. Thankyou
Depending on each day 😅 probably it rains here and there but from Dec to March, it's better 😇 I like venturing out to the forests and farms in dalat, watching clouds in the morning so i prefer it when the weather is at its best.
Great video! I'm going to Vietnam in September so I'm so excited ^_^ You spoke about the best sim card for fast internet. Can this be bought at the airport? (Noi Bai International Airport)
I am glad you find it useful. 😇 Yes, July is good, but it depends on which areas you want to see, what things you are interested in doing and how long you would want to spend your time here 😇
@@MyVietnamDiary some particular cities. i last visited HCMC in 2016 twice and once in 2005. But always wanted to go to hanoi and hoy ann. seeing your videos whet my appetite... lol I saw a video of you doing Hanoi and Hoy An. Great job.
Sadly, we lost our wallet the day before yesterday from Da Nang with all our money in it. It also had our licences from back home. We may have to cut the trip short, and return without all the same things we hoped to purchase. My heart is breaking already. We had planned for more than 6 months to come to this trip. I just wish the one who found it would return it to us :(

Hello...Great video ! 3 questions: * Is there a need for an ADAPTER to charge a cell phone in Vietnan ? * Is there a TAX Return where we leave the country ? * Any suggestion about hotel in Phu Quoc ? Thank you in advance for your comments.
Hi... I am glad that the video is useful for you. 3 answers: 1. Is there a need for an ADAPTER to charge a cell phone in Vietnam ? -> Depends on what you are using. In Vietnam, plugs type A (two flat vertical pins), type C and type F (two round pins) fit most Vietnam electrical outlets. If your power plug has 3 pins, you might need an adapter as most electrical outlets here do not include a grounding hole. Electricity supply in Vietnam is 220 Volts at 50Hz. 2. Is there a TAX Return where we leave the country ? -> Yes. According to Noi Bai International Airport : Under the provisions of the relevant authorities, VAT refund is applied as follows: - Applied conditions: foreigners not bearing Vietnamese passport; not being crew member on flights from Viet Nam to other countries; purchase made at eligible VAT refund shops in Vietnam; purchase accompanied with passenger at the Airport - Eligible VAT refund items: belonging to VAT paid group, brand-new items, eligible to be permitted on board; not being in the list of export prohibit or export restriction; accompanied with invoice and declaration form for VAT refund valid for 30 days prior to departure date, with the accumulative value of one shop in one day at more than 2 million Vietnamese dong. - Procedure for refund: Passenger with eligible VAT refund items shall present passport to be provided with invoice and VAT refund declaration form and guidance. Before baggage checking and boarding pass, passenger is required the present passport, invoice and VAT refund declaration form (original copy) and the purchase for checking to obtained the “Acceptance stamp of Customs. Before boarding, passenger will present passport, boarding pass, invoice and VAT refund declaration form stamped with “Acceptance” of Customs to obtain refund at eligible banking agencies located in the departure lounge for VAT refund. - Refund currency: Vietnamese Dong Passenger can convert this amount to foreign currency at eligible banking agencies for VAT refund at announced exchanged rate. The refunded amount is the total VAT amount excluding service charge (service charge level will not exceed 15% of the total refund amount). - For more information, please check the website of the General Customs Department - Ministry of Finance at: www.customs.gov.vn/default.aspx Source: noibaiairport.vn/en/vat-refund-nid110.html 3. Any suggestion about hotel in Phu Quoc ? What is your budget?
@@Mr.DJones Hi!! It was a great one. We went to Hanoi specifically. Where in Vietnam will you be? It was summer when we went and it was really hot and humid so I think November is a great month to go to 😊 Bus is a good option to commute from the airport to city center, it's cheap and safe so I recommend. Tip!! download grab for transpo and be careful when crossing the street haha. Wish you a great time!!!
@@jjjinny Thank you very much. Not sure where I'll start, most likely north as it will get colder later in the winter and that's not for me. Thanks for the tip, I'll do that.

Thank you 🙏🏻❤️ Also, I have some sort of questions which I would be grateful to receive their answers: 1- How is the weather like in Hanoi? ( The Whole year ). 2- Is there any Muslim restaurants in Hanoi ? 3 - Is there any other solution for people who don't know how to drive motorcycle? 4- What do you think of Cau Giay as a place to live in ?
