"Have a good one" is totally common in the US, not just UK. In the US we say "ten-foot pole" rather than "barge pole".

I lived in England with a host family and I remember my host mom and I discussing how the Brits "pop" and the Americans "drop" A British phrase I remember hearing once in a great while was "to take a piss". I heard it used in several different ways and I think I got the gist (jist) at the time but I couldn't for the life of me use it properly. I am not sure really what it means. It seemed threatening, it seemed like "don't threaten me or I will do something bad" but I really never figured it out. I only heard it rarely on TV and maybe twice in a pub but everyone seemed to know exactly what it meant. I literally asked what it meant and I was told more than once "it means to take a piss". ? This meant nothing to me, I eventually decided it meant "piss off" but I was never confident with this opinion.

Hey TOM I am visiting your channel after a very long time. I hope you are doing alright mate. I wish you stay happy and healthy always. Can you make a video on - How to stay fluent even if you are not speaking or practicing English everyday , like you go for a vacation and you are using your mother tongue ( not English) then you get back but still stay fluent
@datpham2482
@datpham2482 16 дней назад
oh I have one tip and it works in my case. I try to wake up early around 5 having a chat with my dad in my mother tongue. At work I try to catch up with my coworkers anytime I can, gossip about stuff in life etc. Go visit my old friends sometimes. After a month I become super fluent...in my native language. You can do that too!

I don't really want to spoil anybody fun but.. Who really want to sound very British?. Being myself a Spanish person when I speak English I sound like a person not being Brithish born or being brought up there.. But when I speak I don't really have any problem getting my message across... Better than sounding "very British" you should try to sound "understandable".. 🎉🎉🎉

To be understood by other people is definitely a goal. But some people want to have a very good pronunciation and they thoroughly learn it. In this case they will choose which exactly accent they would like to speak with - American or British as they are rather different. That's the point. Most people don't care about it. That's ok too.
