Round Rock police have arrested a 17-year-old suspect in the mass shooting at a Juneteenth celebration that left two women dead and 14 others injured.
Ricky Thompson III, 17, of Manor, was taken into custody by the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force at around 7:30 a.m. Thursday, Round Rock Police Chief Allen Banks said at a press conference. Thompson has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony.

BUT one knuckle head can turn a good kid all bad... those kids with single parents like yourself are the same ones you'll see say "He was a good kid" and that's because he was a good kid, good grades, until he wasn't.... just like this young man. These kids are out of control! My mother was a single mother and me and my brothers were terrified of my mother! She worked 2 jobs and were never home and yet she kept her foot on our necks! Kept us busy! Sports, jobs, studies! And we were disciplined to the 3rd degree! These parents now are so consumed with partying and getting a keeping a man that they can’t raise their kids!

These young men and boys are the terrorists of the community. The parents don’t care. Odds are that dad is in jail, dead, or abandoned the child. As many a teacher will tell you, too many parents refuse to get involved with the basics. That’s why 70% of black high school boys can only read at elementary school level.

This happened at a Juneteenth festival in our city, Round Rock. Two innocent mothers were killed. One was pregnant and the other had four children. I honestly had a difficult time watching that as the Father could barely contain himself. How the hell this kid got his hands on a weapon is anybody's guess but after being stationed In CA and living in L.A. for 18 years it's not particularly shocking.
