I love her voice. And I give her mad props cause this song has so many lyrics she only gets like 1 second to breathe here and there. And she was only 17. Bad ass
All those people saying that hers would never be better than Dolly’s, but she never said that she was tryna be better than dolly. She was just using that song to show the judges and the audience what her voice can do. I rest my case 😌
Listen to her back then, and listen to her today. She was terrific then and she is even more fantastic today. She is the total package and I see great things happening in her future! She is headed to the top of country music!
A deceptively simple song but not easy to cover and sing it like Dolly because it's challenging to find time to take a breath the way the song is structured.
Can you believe Dolly Parton wrote this song from an idea after Lily Tomlin telling office hours to Jane Fonda. Dolly Parton is a legend!!! Dolly Parton wrote the song for the movie after they weren't able to use Ain't no Mountain High enough. Everyone loved the song so much they changed the name of the movie to 9 to 5. The title of the movie was called Office Women, Dolly hated the title she though it left people out and it didn't include everyone. Dolly Parton was only going to play a small part too, with the movie focused on Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin. So many breaks in the filming Jane, Lily and Dolly became the best of friends, They were amazed how talented Dolly was with her ability to make music. Director loved Dolly so much he wanted her to be a bigger part of the movie and that it should be triple team. So Dolly went from just another pretty face to a real role in the movie. Dolly Parton was playing her guitar with music she wanted to use just need a song to go with it. Jane said it's beautiful I love it, Lily said it's alright but we need a catchy song to go with it. Dolly said I don't know what I can do with, OFFICE WOMEN, I don't even know how long OFFICE PEOPLE work. Jane Fonda said um how long does Office workers work? Lily said Mostly 9am to 5pm. Dolly look up and said 9 TO 5!!!! Went out the room came back 15 minutes later and did the song for Jane and Lily.
She's great. So much talent and charisma, very captivating and entertaining. she has an all round great country voice one to watch in the future for sure How i Love the way she Sings „yawning streatching“ at the beginning....
diulikadikaday Hopefully she turns out to be a better woman. Not sure Johnny abused her. Would not shock me though because he seems like he maybe would act violent or weird towards a woman.
Tumble outta bed and I stumble to the kitchen Pour myself a cup of ambition Yawn and stretch and try to come to life Jump in the shower and the blood starts pumpin' Out on the street the traffic starts jumpin' With folks like me on the job from 9 to 5 Workin' 9 to 5, what a way to make a livin' Barely gettin' by, it's all takin' and no givin' They just use your mind and they never give you credit It's enough to drive you crazy if you let it 9 to 5, for service and devotion You would think that I would deserve a fat promotion Want to move ahead but the boss won't seem to let me I swear sometimes that man is out to get me! They let you dream just to watch 'em shatter You're just a step on the boss-man's ladder But you got dreams he'll never take away You're in the same boat with a lotta your friends Waitin' for the day your ship'll come in An' the tide's gonna turn and it's all gonna roll your way Workin' 9 to 5, what a way to make a livin' Barely gettin' by, it's all takin' and no givin' They just use your mind and you never get the credit It's enough to drive you crazy if you let it 9 to 5, yeah they got you where they want you There's a better life, and you dream about it, don't you? It's a rich man's game no matter what they call it And you spend your life puttin' money in his wallet 9 to 5, whoa what a way to make a livin' Barely gettin' by, it's all takin' and no givin' They just use your mind and they never give you credit It's enough to drive you crazy if you let it 9 to 5, yeah they got you where they want you There's a better life, and you dream about it, don't you? It's a rich man's game no matter what they call it And you spend your life puttin' money in his wallet 9 to 5, working 9 to 5
I have always loved this song and honestly she did it better than Dolly. I could hear this version all day long. She totally slayed it. Loved every minute
I think she put her own little take on this song and didn’t try to sound like Dolly too much and it worked, by no means perfect but hey I couldn’t sing like she did so who am I to comment on it, just sayin 😂
If Emily takes the Taylor Swift, Shania Twain, pop country, the world is her oyster, stick to pure Dolly Parton, Reba McEntire she will struggle to crack the UK and European market. All I can say is good luck Emily
