Sign4lyf Its been nearly 9 years since this "sunset ending" and, even though John Paul came back for 5 years of twists and turns before jetting off to Singapore, the fact that he was being called by Craig as he departed left open a whole realm of possibilities. My hope: as long as Hollyoaks continues, I hope that in maybe 5 years or so James and Guy agree to reprise John Paul and Craig one last time and return for a visit. It doesn't have to be a long one, maybe a week or two, and they don't have any real drama themselves but only get caught up in someone else's storyline. We can then see they've realized their error and reunited as a couple and as parents. When they leave this time, it can be for good, but fans can have a confirmed "happily ever after" story. John Paul, Craig and Matthew (since McQueen-Dean or vice versa doesn't really work as a combined married name, they might also legally change their last name to McDean, possibly as a tribute to the fans). Just some fun ideas.
I like how Craig has his arm around JP. He kept flip flopping before but now he's sure & JP can put his trust in Craig's love for him. They lived happily ever after in Dublin.

Ugh why oh why did they have to ruin this!!! This was THE PERFECT ending to their love story. There was no need to bring John Paul back and completely annihilate his character. I'm so bitter :( I hope they bring Craig back and fix what didn't need to be fixed in the first place. Smh.
That is what happens when someone needs a job and goes back to working on a soap opera. They have no choice but to give them other storylines. John Paul could be with 100 men but in my mind, he will always belong to Craig and vice versa.

At the start of John-Paul and Craig story we would of never pictured them getting together we all saw a wonderful friendship that was growing stronger everyday Nobody in their orbit would of put them together and yet Craig and John-Paul were perfect for one another
And they split up in four years, only for Craig to call John Paul to get back together in 2017 and it's confirmed that Craig moved to Singapore to be with John Paul again in 2018. Ten Years later and Craig and JP can't live without each other. Best Love Story on HO.

After 2 years of arguments, breakups, emotional turmoil, dead priests, passion, angst, fear, and broken engagements, McDean finally got the sunset ending they deserved :) so glad it ended like this

God, I remember watching this over a decade ago, and even now after binging most of it back for a couple hours they still managed to get me to love it no matter how corny or cheesy or dramatic or stupid it was. How'd I end up falling in love with Craig again, after all this time, even after I properly hated his stupid aggressive attitude in the middle of it all. No way, you didn't make me cry at 10am in the morning!
I remember this story line between them it was very moving love story and the rights at hollyoaks were the right ending for them I wish they could come back and being together
I watched Craig's first exit attempt with John Paul before watching this and its so poignant! He kissed him in public and held his hand, the character growth is perfect!
Ok so 13 years later and I've finally watched their story, I started watching hollyoaks because of ste and harry a while ago and had heard of this relationship but never really got into it John Paul has become my favorite character in the show so I wanted to see why everyone was talking about McDean and now I understand, their relationship was all over the place but still it was beautiful to watch Sad that they aren't together anymore, I wish they brought Craig back even if it's a recast so they can have the ending they deserve If not I'll just pretend this is their ending and the other JP is his twin or something lol
Damn that year learning how to act in America made Guy Burnett so much better for his return. Basically just binged this who story, and 2007 Craig is uber rough acting wise, while 2008 is almost perfect. Good work Guy.

I've just rewatched this whole storyline again, something I could only do after HO confirmed they were back together. Watching the whole thing again reminded me exactly why I fell in love with the character of John Paul. I much preferred him in the early days and found him annoying at times when returned. Seeing him as an adult, make the same mistakes he made as a teenager over and over again, going from man to man, telling them all he loved them and cheating at the drop of a hat was crazy! Did he learn nothing from his past? I think he is a character with a lot of issues due to the ridiculous amount of trauma the show put him through, but the writers could never be bothered to explore that properly. I only start liking him again really when I saw his last episode, when he finally admitted his mistakes and years of failed relationships and remembered that he once was someone with so many more dreams and ambitions then to just be content living with his mum and sisters in Hollyoaks forever! That is more like the JP I loved. I think without Craig he loses his way completely and that is why they will always find their way back to each other in the end.
Oh, I was so afraid this story would have an unhappy ending - that would have been unbearable, but I'm so glad they are finally together. These two boys are just meant to be together. Such a great storyline. Thanks for uploading.

I just happened upon these clips of John Paul & Craig recently and have become so hooked.... it is such a incredible love story... I keep crying every time I think about them... I so wish I could find a love like that.... I agree with MCDEAN FOREVER..... hope they stay in Dublin and remain happy together... bringing them back would probably lead to a break up... they are just so meant for each other... so beautiful

to me this is the first perfect moment between these two. there was always something in the way from making there moment perfect whether it was those two girls or craigs sexuality it just never felt so good until now. it was worth watching every single moment from the first time they kiss both drunk and sober to the first time they made love and all those make up sex. this is true love in its finest. it me five days to watch all of this from the first day hey met at school and even keiron storyline to this moment and again I say it was worth it

I have to say the whole John Paul/Craig/Hannah/Sarah along with Kieron storyline was so well written This is my 4th time watching this.. I wish the American soaps gay storylines were this good.

This is where it ends for me! I love John Paul but they made a mistake on bringing him back and making him get with Ste, Doug, Scott and James and whoever else. At least when he left again, Craig rang him and they got back together!

Thank you so, so much for taking the time to upload this, it was heart breaking, nerve racking and made me want to strangle someone at times, but it's a story that you can't help but fall in love with, and its a couple that you can't help but cheer on. I could say the same for Craig too. I know he is offscreen after this episode but the character still suffered from bad writing. The idea that the same Craig who returned for JP here, so mature and sure of what he wanted, would run away from JP and his son 5 years later! Craig hated his dad for running out on him and yet the show had him do exactly the same thing to his own child,. It's not until JP is leaving HO again that Craig finally rings...and just like JP we are left to assume that Craig has been making a mess of his life for 5 years before finally finding his way back to JP again. And by the way, I love James Sutton's expression in his final scene as JP. When he sees Craig's name flash up on the screen of his mobile, it's very similar to the scene where he sees Craig again for the first time in 2008, at the juice bar. Kind of like 'Oh no, here we go again!' LOL.
Craig returned for holloyaks later the same year as the sunset episode him and John-Paul were still a couple but Craig had gone on holiday with Steph and Tom they rented a cottage from a nudist called pete Steph initially believe he had designs on her Craig and Pete went out for drinks Pete said to Craig so your gay then Craig wow wow technically it's just one guy his name's john John Paul Pete jokingly so where is this john john paul Craig Dublin whilst I'm here trying to figure things out Pete go on Craig what you mean Pete go Craig ok well we had this intense on off things for a couple of years its just hard wanting something for so long and then you get it Steph joked about Craig sexlife with John-Paul Craig do you fancy a brew Steph yes please so long as its not a fruit tea Craig why would it be a fruit l Steph what with you being gay j just assumed Craig well excuse I'm not gay Steph you kiss boys Craig i kiss a boy Steph bet that's not all you do Craig on occasions we hold hands ok satisfied Steph i bet John-Paul isn't After Johnno had left Frankie Craig asked Steph you don't think I'll do the same thing cheat on my girlfriend Steph didn't reckon he would on Craig and Sarah official first date Craig said to Sarah i dont know how Rhys could even look at someone else let alone do anything else John-Paul then appeared criag had missed a meeting for a football camp Craig and John-Paul were meant to be going to foreshadowing how John-Paul will come between Criag and Sarah
Thank you HO for taking my McDean Heart, tearing it into a million pieces, and shredding the remains. I just don't get why they would give us the SE only to tear it away. It's a soap, I know, but McDean had fans from across the globe, it was something special in itself. Was - past tense. I'm going into Craig-Denial mode, honestly.
A marriage for John Paul and Craig would make for a wonderful "Hollyoaks" special. 'Tis a pity that it will probably never happen. The two actors are following their own careers now separately. Still, the fans would love it.

They were the first people to every get me into hollyoaks after their storyline I so addicted to hollyoaks so thx to McDean this show will forever be my favorite soap in the uk

I just finished watching this storyline..and everytime I see the point at where the train leaves and John Paul slams his bag down and looks across the platform - I get chills.
I love the end song it's just so fitting. And this ending, I like to think this is where the story ended, with them in Dublin, happy, and everything in Hollyoaks just going crazy as usual lol. This is like my 3rd(?) time watching these 2 all the way through, and this end gets me every time. So good, so, so good.
And I am a McDeaner so was rather gutted to hear JP returning alone but hopefully they'll give him a good story to work with. James sutton did say he'd only return if a good story-line was cooked up. As for Guy Burnet im glad he doesnt need to return, shows hes out there getting known, proves theres life after hollyoaks...just wish James could find it!!!
Yeah John-Paul&Craig were end game i couldn't imagine John-Paul leaving Craig they spilt them up because James Sutton wanted to go back to hollyoaks and Guy Burnet wasn't coming back. John-Paul was only created in the first place as bestfriend stroke eventual love interest for Craig
I'm watching this in 2018, and I seriously wish I lived in the UK during the time this was popular!!!!!!!! And when I clicked on it, I didn't even realize that I've watched this storyline a long time ago. And I watching it and wondering why it's Su familiar and I'm just like...WAIT A MINUTE.....
What needs to happen now is they both come back together and get married. They both deserve some type of happiness after everything they went through while they were together, broken up or dating someone else. At the end of the day, these two belong together.
