Why is there so much criticism? This video is just showing how much magic find he is not saying it’s good. Stuff like this is awesome and things we’ve all wanted to try for fun. Good job man ignore these idiots
Magic find actually has diminishing returns. I only worry about 200+ ish and it is more High runes that matter and not Uniques with the exception to shakos griffins etc. Not to mention he cant pick items up this is entirely idiotic.
@@drakthorzodin-son3643 Its been a year since I made my comment so i may not understand the context anymore, however I think what this videos purpose was to push something to the absolute most extreme in a game we all love for the sake of experimentation. I would personally never ever do this experiment, but i am intrigued that someone did. Therefore i am glad he made the video for my entertainment at his expense. I don't think he is suggesting to anyone that this is an optimal magic finding setup, in fact im sure he even recommends you DO NOT do this. I don't understand why anyone would criticize this experiment unless they are trying to take this opportunity to flex their ego and knowledge of Diablo 2.
@@x1PMac1x Yes, it makes her always drop quest drops, which are much better than regular drops. You kill her, then don't do ANYTHING ELSE: grab loot if needed, go into the portal that opens, talk to the NPC and go to act 2. Done. She's glitched forever for that character and will always drop her quest drops. I always save & quit after I get to act 2, but I've read before that it isn't necessary.
Unique items can be upgraded to their exceptional/elite versions. This is especially useful for Goldwrap as it gets one more item row while still matching your strength. The recipe is Tal + Shael + PDiamond + normal Goldwrap (base item 'heavy belt') --> upgraded Goldwrap (base item 'battle belt')
You can upgrade the gold wrap to exceptional for more belt slots to store more potion and tp scrolls and you should be able to wear it with the star you had
The incredible depth in detail got me stunned. I first played back in 2000, when I was 12. I’m 31 now and recently picked this back up with an old time friend. We’re having so much damn fun. I feel like a freaking kid again.
Wasn't 1.09 so much fun Mike? Occy rings, Constriction rings, White gloves, White rings, 6 socket Grandfather's, 6 socket Windforce's, Ith items, Zephyr bows, Quark's items, 4 socket Valors, 4 socket Gladiator's Bane, Strength gloves, Wizard Spike gloves, Hexing Small Charm of Immolation Arrow that had 90 Str, 90 Dex & 90 Vita. And then there were the unreal jewels like King Jewels.
I had a bug in d2 once in a LAN game a year or two ago. I don't know what exactly happened but me as barbarian and my brother as sorceress bugged item drop somehow, and every item from every monster even usual weak white ones was a unique. No blue, yellow or green items. Only damn uniques with no repeats. We got every item in the game which the Nightmare difficulty could offer, it was awesome. I still have that character save btw.
29.9.2020: The day when my almost entire life has been ruined.... TP scrolls in belt... And as many in the comment section, too have been playing this game since it came out....
I feel like the amount time spend waiting for your merc would allow to complete at least a few extra Mephisto runs. I get that this is just a demonstration, but that took a long time for the the merc to kill meph.
I need a little advice. I'm a returning player after a two year absence. I usually always play only as a Barbarian, sometimes summoning Necro. But this time I decided for my first time ever I would roll a Hammerdin. My question is, what gear is the best MF gear for an Act 2 Merc? Thank you
When doing an actual magic-find build, the main component is having a solid 300-600% magic find with fast clearing speed. It'll only slow you down to invest in magic find on your mercenary, waiting for him to last hit every monster. Keep in mind that mercenary magic find only comes into play if they get the last hit in which case the magic find used is the sum of theirs and yours. Otherwise, only your magic find is used. In the video, he invested so many resources into his mercenary, because he was trying to figure out the maximum magic find possible - not to be a useful magic find build.
Mercenaries cannot get to level 99 FYI. Also this is completely untested but if you got charms with poison damage can it get the killing blow on monsters? I know it cannot in PvP but I am not as versed in PvM. If it cant then you could get all 7% MF Small Charms with Poison damage and it would get the enemy to 1 health really quickly?
Bro this was insanely cool to watch! me and my friend when we were young and dumb used to wonder what the max magic find was and what it would look like! 11 year old me would have pissed himself if he saw what you have done here today! GG Xtimus
I always enjoyed my MF barb. Just slap some good main dps weapons on him, and have him duel wield 2x baba with ist socketed. Grab some gear that has MF on it but doesnt nerf you too much. Then go on a trip around the world: Eldritch > Shenk > Pindleskin > Council > Countess. Not ideal for the greatest drops but they all have mobs around them with pretty good item drops, a load of gold drops too, and none of them are too difficult to kill (council being exception based on their auras). Not the most effective farming (I think I got around 300mf), but its fast, relatively safe, and very easy. Ideal to find some stuff for trading or to give to toons or friends.
@@hansgerber8654 How much MF you should get will always be a balancing act between kill speed and MF. You are right that up to 360% MF it makes sense to be more willing to sacrifice kill speed. But higher MF is almost always better as long as you aren't sacrificing kill speed to get it.
This game is where the addiction all started. Played this game STEADY from 8-18 yrs old. 10 best gaming years of my life! diablo 3 is where my faith in blizz was stripped away. Anyways good video
portal scrolls in the belt.... now it changes everything. When you put your portal on the last square, you are putting a safe to you come back town. nice, awesome.
Cool video man I’ll definitely try out an MF barb at some point. Probably won’t be using the last wish though, 5 high runes is a bit too pricy right now lol. Also it’s funny that an MF video has a thumbnail of a bunch of high runes on the floor (since mf doesn’t affect their drop chance).
I know this was just a concept build, but with the diminishing returns on MF wouldn't it be easier and less tedious to just kill the shit with your barb? if your merc gets the kill then cool but that shouldn't be the objective, matter of factly an act 2 merc that was decked out would allow for quicker kills
Still amazed after all these years how they decided to actually put a naked female demon with boob physics in the game just after the 90s. What a time to be alive! The game mechanics on top of all the attention to detail created WAAAAAAAY to much nostalgia for this game. I still play it, though I try not to bounce my eyes along to act 1 as much as when I was younger. XD
If you ever get bored, load up Hero Editor. Easily craft items with 1700, 5000, 100,000 magic find. You will find out that it doesnt make much difference if at all with actually dropping rarer items.
You can actually open up your inventory then while you're dragging the item to put it into your inventory, the item is actually on your cursor, so you can exit a game with the item still on your cursor. When you join a new game, it will still be on your cursor and you'd be in town, so you can move it to stash then. Or just tp, then clear your inventory temporarily so you can pick stuff up. Makes much more sense to dedicate some space for picking stuff up though... Personally I'd go around with identifying scrolls, either in the belt, or a book of such scrolls. This way you can figure out if it's even worth the inventory space for an item. If not, simply drop it back on the ground and look at the next item.
@@MultiUltimater Just dedicate four spots for your cube and just put the items you wanna pick up in the cube. Only losing 28% mf. But this video is just a demonstration for a max mf build and isn't supposed to be efficient.
lies item find is the same drop rate on what items that comes from the monsters as when you kill them, maxing Find Item will not give you a higher chance to grand uniq items, items are set to a drop rate based on monsters lvl if you'r playing on normal or hell and how many players you are in the game. besides these 3 things there is no way what so ever to gain more drop rate in the game magic find is also not for drop rate its for Identifying perfect rolled items...
You've finally earned me as a sub bro.. you've gotta be editing more or something cause this is a great video compared to others. Other than spelling you were spot on dude!!! Keep up the good work!!
Im going to explain it in a short way - As much MF as you can, without losing on kilspeed, is the correct answer. In first instance, game checks for: unique --> set --> rare --> and finally magic. On EACH stage, the whole MF is being checked, that means game check your MF 4 times - for unique, set, rare and magic quality. Furthermore, the best strategy for MF is to hunt champions / elite packs / superuniques in areas of lvl 82, 83, 84 ad 85 over and over again on players 1, because they will always drop 1-2 items, no matter what player count is. That being said, you need minimum damage, you are keeping your killspeed, and finally, you are maximizing ur chances with high MF. Thats why zerker barbs and sorcs are the best chars to MF, because they can stack over 700mf with good killspeed. There is also 2 very important factors - each item has its own rarity ( for example, tc87 items in higher lvl areas ( 82, 83, 84 and 85 ) such as archon staffs, sacred armos etc - they have a chance to drop from around 1:1k to 1:4k in MAGIC quality from elite monster) and UNIQUE quality of an item is the rarest, so most of the time its RNG and being lucky, but high MF always helps in a long run. The best way to check the rarity of an item is to use silospen calculator - dropcalc.silospen.com/item.php . I finished my holy grail in less than a year and my main char was sorc with MF from 600 to 820, depending if I wanted go lighting, blizz or fire ball.
Hey @@fatty180 :) Its kordipl from twitch. I found it in Ancient Tunnels, I had 820mf www.twitch.tv/kordipl/clip/ArtisticSingleFriseeDBstyle Took me few thousand AT runs, but if we count all my runs doing chaos, pits, AT, drifter cavern, Nithalak, WSK etc - probably 50k++ ? Theres no way to count it, but I can guess it was 50k+ since I started playing plugy ( January 18th 2018, finished grail on November 22nd 2018, had a few breaks meanwhile ) Tyraels was my 500th item, and I found my last 3 items within 48hours :)
Wow, if you did 50k runs in that time your life must be quite empty, or math is taking a hit. Out of the amount of hours passed since january 18 you'd have had to do 9,08 runs every waking hour of the year, assuming that you sleep eat and shit 8/24 hours of the day. Now the time is not impossible, since it gives you roughly 6 mins pr run. But if you have a job you'd have 3 mins pr run assuming you work 8 hours a day including travel time. Assuming a spouse takes on average 4 hours each day (atleast because he/she would get annoyed with the 24/7 gaming and sleeping) you'd have roughly 5 mins pr run. Work and girlfriend 1,3 mins pr run. This is all assuming that the only thing you do aside from these things is playing diablo. If you take a day off (16 hours), You have to make up 1,15 seconds on each of the 50k runs. It is possible but damn man, that is a tough life. @@kc96pl
@@Protagonistish I was playing nearly on all my days off work, so yeah, quite a bit ;) I took this challenge and Im happy I finished it. PS. I started focusing on my Grail more at the end of the May. Before that, I was casually / occassionally playing. Usually, my runs were taking about 1-2 minutes. You can do the maths now :D
