Another amazing hunt Todd, an what an old site it is. Its so awesome to be able to get acess to these very old sites. We just never know what awaits us on these digs. An the history they tell is so amazing to discover. Congrats on all your finds on this adventure. It truly is a very old site thats seen alot of foot traffic i think. Since you found so much on the trails. Might have been an old trading post at one time. An i believe there's so much more to be found there.i hope you do go back many times an search it over an over. Great video Todd. Have an amazing weekend my friend an we will catch you on your next adventure Todd. 😁👍👍
@AppalachianHistoryDetectives
Hey Richard I think you are right, and I can't wait to get back there. This place has many places ripe for undiscovered history and what is amazing, we were heading to where the cannon battery stood and never made it that far. I hope to detect that creek before weather gets too cold too....cheers brother.

Todd, They don't come any better than that. You both may be the first to detect it. I hope you can keep coming back because that is a treasure trove of historically significant items. Maybe there are some early maps documenting it, I wouldn't be surprised. Wow! Rik Spector
@AppalachianHistoryDetectives
Hey Rik yep this site is virgin. No maps exist of this area in early times to really it is a shot in the dark when detecting and this site has nothing remarkable about it to indicate anything was ever there. Scott lucked out finding this but he is a lucky guy and a good one to have around.....just a good character.

Cool finds. You find the best spots to hunt. I'm never disappointed when I get to watch your adventures. I've been watching Robert Wright in Georgia who has Sidestep adventures into history. I've watched most of his and I've been watching some of his earlier ones where they find and uncover lost cemeteries and graveyards. I'm so glad you had Cliff on your last one because I have been trying f to remember his channel and now I can pull it up on the tv. I watched him before I was able to watch on the tv but for some reason I've never found him on the tv. I couldn't remember his channel name. Thank you for having him and nudging my memory to find his channel. God bless you and your family and thanks again for keeping this old woman entertained and helping me keep my mind working. Lol. I'll be watching The Wandering Woodsmna again and on the tv so I can see it.
@AppalachianHistoryDetectives
Hey Gaye happy to help out and glad you enjoy Cliff's channel too. His content has its fans but I know Cliff personally and he is as authentic off screen as on screen. Super nice guy and I'm lucky for his friendship. I will check out Sidestep Adventures. Not sure I've seen that channel before...thanks for being a super fan of my channel.

You are my top favorite channel. You have been since I first learned how to do this on my tablet. My friend bought me this tablet about 6 or 7 years ago for a birthday present. She said she was tired of seeing me try to do things on my phone. At that time I on my did FB. She had a big deal top computer and printer. But all she ever did on it was play solitaire and she could do Emails. I am hoping this tablet lasts me forever. It means a lot to me because she passed last November 31. She was one of the best people ever and I really do miss her. She lived about 20 or 30 miles out in the country and we had worked together for 20 years at Wal-Mart. I had dentalnsurgery the week before thanksgiving and she made us thanksgiving dinner and made it so I could eat with my new dentures. We had an awesome time and I did some of the things she couilsnt do such as make her king size bed up. We talked at least once a day and we talked 3 times on Monday after thanksgiving. She was upset because she was trying to do her floors and she couldn't get it together to do them. I told her leave them sit down and watch NCIS her favorite show. I told her unwound be back j a couple days to do them. That was the last time we talked. Tuesday I called her 5 or 6 times and couldn't get her. I thought maybe her sister had come out to go shopping. Wednesday I called and no answer so I was texting her grandson who lives between Orlando and Tampa when my phone rang and it was him bawling his eyes out. All he could get our was a neighbor found gram dead. His mom her only surviving child was already getting ready to fly out from California. Helping them go thru her things and getting ready to out the house on the market was one of the hardest things ever. Sorry I didn't mean to put all this on you but some times it gets more than I can deal with. She was such a b it part of my life for over 20 years. The guy who delivers Pepsi product to Wal-Mart called her my better half one day and got so embarrassed when he realized what he said. I just laughed and told him it's ok it's better than calling us those two old annoying bitches. Lol. Her daughter asked if I would go to the store to let them know and the 1st person I saw was that guy. I started to tell him and tears came in his eyes and he just walked up and hugged me. There we were two adults crying loel babies in the aisle at Wal-Mart. Life goes on till our time comes. The thing I keep reminding myself is she is now reunited with her son Kenny and my son William and knowing those 3 they are having a party. Thsk you for being such a good kind caring man who keeps me entertained and who also us such a great role model and parent to your kids. God bless and keep you all safe in this crazy world.
@AppalachianHistoryDetectives
@@gayeyount7948 thanks for sharing this with me. Your friend sounds like she was a hoot to be with but a real gem as a person. I shared your note with my wife since I hear stories like yours more often than you might believe. I have a handful of faithful fans facing life ending health issues and some have passed on I’m sure. I would hear their stories of struggle with inoperable cancer writing from the hospital or in a care facility then one day I never hear from them again so I know they’ve passed on. I have two fans who have been in the hospital for a long time, both have written comments on this video and if you read, one of them mentions surgery they just had and are thankful to be alive. They are elderly too. One writes from Bavaria by email now about sue and her elderly husband who live alone with their cat. Another lives in CA spent months in the hospital and took pictures out her window of the Hollywood sign. Most of my Patrons have bad health issues and elderly and I have gotten to know them personally. You can email me at appalachiannhistorydetectives@gmail.com and I can share more there not in public. Gaye I too have health issues that have made me realize my life is but a breath. I hold onto God for strength and comfort and for peace. I have seen the best in people and worst in people from this channel but there is one constant, God loves us and cares for his own. Whether you are a believer or not I do not know but I firmly believe in Christ and hold on to his promises because people let us down and life is short and fragile. We all have a date with death and I can’t imagine being hopeless with all the suffering and pain. Keep your faith in him and know he loves and cares for you. Amen. Thanks for sharing.

The only explanation I can think of of why people would lose that many coins is could that have been a tavern or a whiskey making site back in the day? It would make sense people stumbling around the area drunk losing their money. And could the other site that looks like a home site up the hill a little ways, could that be a stopover for travelers through the area? The spilled out coins could even be an area where a lot of fist fights took place where people were rolling around on the ground spilling change. Usually where there's alcohol there's fights lol. I'm intrigued! This is a very unusual spot

At one point at the around the 7 minute mark you show what appears to be a a chunk of iron a small one. During the latter days of the civil war the confederacy they made canister shot with small chunks of iron instead of fashioning perfect spheres. I have a group sample of this type of shot. Sure looks to be what you found knowing there was civil war artillery in the area you were searching.

How come coins were lost by folks who had so little? Wouldn’t that lost coin have really mattered?
@AppalachianHistoryDetectives
@AppalachianHistoryDetectives 5 месяцев назад
I gather because pockets in britches weren't invited to sometime later in the 1800's so coins had holes in them and worn around the neck. If the string broke, all the coins were lost. Also they would carry them in pouches. If the string came untied, they would lose them. It is easier finding old coins at old sites than finding coins post Civil War. Crazy I know.
