Every time they sing this song with Xu Wei like this, I take it as OUR, Love Message to THEM! BOTH OF THEM! Correct? Crying like a baby here, now, as I'm typing this. The Chinese Government may have banned this series and may have succeeded in keeping Xu Wei and Jingyu apart, but they HAVE NOT and clearly, WILL NEVER, KILL THE DREAM!! Correct? I have just watched the Addicted series and I just found myself searching anything over the web for both of them. What happened to them is really heartbreaking, but I know everything happens for a reason. I'm glad they are both, not just okay, but Super Stars now. He has a great voice! I am still thankful the Chinese Authorities FORGOT to also ban songs related to Addicted or that would be too much LOL, at least we can still remember memories even from the song.
You know, in my humble opinion, this and them have now, become a symbol of everything that is currently, wrong with China. That is, those soulless, dictators who currently, rule China. I hope both Xu Wei and Jingyu realize this, as well. Lifting the ban on this series and allowing those two to have lives together again, in whatever way they choose to, would be a glowing, victory for the RIGHT, direction that China SHOULD, be going. You know, as an outsider, I understand I'm making some pretty big claims here, but part of that is seeing how the Chinese fans themselves, react to these two and what was done to this series and them. To me, it's hard not to see this as a Symbol now, of everything that needs to change in China for the better, for everyone. Beyond the Gay Themed material itself, this was an utterly, gorgeous and enchanting story, overall. Everything about it was so beautiful and well put together. Rather than being banned, it should actually, have been considered a Modern, Chinese, Classic and Masterpiece of storytelling, that everyone, not just the two, main, male, leads should be DAMN, proud of. They should be getting recognition and awards for this and everything, to validate all the hard work everyone put into this. Correct? I so, so, hope this happens Internationally, eventually, if not in China, itself. I absolutely, love how the Chinese tell stories, when they are left alone to tell them as they want. They are so cute, and wonderful, and sweet, and endearing, and everything. I'm sure if Chinese filmmakers were left alone to tell Chinese stories the way they WANT, to tell these stories, there would be a HUGE, HUGE, International Fan Base for them. I'm convinced of it. So the Chinese Government, by banning and restricting things like this, are actually, only, hurting China and the Chinese People, rather than helping and aiding them. Correct? Is this not the theme song from the "Addicted" series? I'm almost certain it is. Don't tell me Xu Wei does not think about Jingyu every time he does this song, and clearly, it has a special place in everybody's hearts, as every time he sings it, everybody always, knows every word and can sing it right along with him. @Ivan J. Conway Sorry if I sounded rude, English isn't my first language. In my opinion there were good reasons. This series is full of distorted and outdated values, or as Chinese call it, 三观极歪. To list a few problematic things about the series: It promotes violence. Gu Hai beats his classmates up a few times to show he cares for Luoyin, bearing no consequences. This is very immature if not criminal. It glorifies corruption. Gu Hai constantly uses his dad’s power to “get things done”. Like getting a rent-free store-front for Luoyin’s aunt, securing a job for Luoyin’s father, etc. These are criminal activities. It promotes gambling. Gu Hai and Luoyin play mahjong with their friends to win tens of thousands of Yuan to make it through a rough patch. Gu Hai wants to show Luoyin he loves him, so he kidnaps him and ties him to his hotel bed. Again, very wrong and disturbing. And the way it portrayed the military and chinese values. The list goes on. Although the affection displayed between these two characters are very touching, I was always thrown off whenever the above things happend while I was watching.
@@liliane_C2000 : Well Darling, of course I cannot disagree with anything you've expressed here, and if I could be certain that these, indeed, were the reasons for this series being banned, I might not be so bothered. But sadly, I'm fearful that the main reason was that it was a Gay Themed series, and no matter how it had been portrayed the government would have acted that same, regardless. For example; if the issues were with the series itself, well, ban the series but not the two actors being seen in public together. How they behaved in their real lives, outside of the series, was quite, warm and touching and actually, was a lovely role model for all male friendships/brotherhoods. My understanding is that these guys acted too gay for the government's liking, and presented a relationship that seemed too believable, which is why both the series and these two appearing together, were banned. If I am correct here, this seems draconian to the extreme. Also Darling, it seems to me that the Chinese Government should be one of the very, last ones to be pushing any type of morality on anybody else. Would you not agree? I'm sure you've heard the expression that you should clean up your own house first, before you start preaching at others about theirs. Or something to that effect. Meaning; the Chinese Government has far, far, worse things to worry about regarding its own corruption and human rights violations to be preaching about something they may not have liked in some fictional TV series. Correct? Well sadly, for all us "Addicted" fans, who are also, fans of these guys too, by the way; it is highly, unlikely we'll see the end of this series anyway. The ending the writers of the story and the makers of the series envisioned. Not with these two anyway, and not in China either, it seems. Now I find this somewhat, sad as even though I agree with many of the things you express here, I thought this was a great piece of Chinese Drama in many other ways, reflecting a side of Chinese Culture that all Chinese can be proud of. The struggle of the poor masses and that sort of thing. I thought all that was wonderfully put together, and would have made a great story even, if it were not Gay Themed. And the theme song for this series was/is an absolutely, outstanding piece of modern, pop, Chinese, music regardless, which brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it, even if, I'm unable to understand the actual, lyrics. So yes, while there may be many things that can be criticized about this series, there are just as many things that can be praised too, I think, and everyone involved with this series, including the two leads, should be damn, proud of it overall. I look forward to the day when this series can get praise and accolades from the outside, international, community if it has not already, as an example of an outstanding piece of Chinese Drama, well put together and well acted, regardless that everyone involved with it can rightly, take pride in. But yes; as a gay man myself, I would much, much, prefer to see more gay ROMANCE, in these things rather than the obsessions and abuse that seems to be a key part of so many of them. Because while yes, it can and does happen in the Gay Community for real, it is by no means the norm and prevalent everywhere, as many of these Boy Love shows would tend, to lead you to believe. But then again, that is rather, boring and maybe, a little TOO, gay for the target audience that these shows and series seem to be focused on. Correct? Warmest Wishes from Canada. Best of 2022.
