Probably the most advanced airgun on the market besides the Delta Wolf. Truly an awesome airgun. I am so glad you used .177 slugs. This is the first video I have watched with .177 slugs in this platform. I have been wondering how they would do. Man am I glad I got to watch this video. Really got me thinking about trying slugs in my .177 PCP. Thank you. God bless.

From all my air rifles i own. .177 .22 and .25. My favorite is the hatsan nova in .177. Shooting the 19.5gr varmint knockers at 980 fps. 200 yards is not a problem.

Afraid to own a electronic gun? Thanks to the paintball industry they did it year's ago, and no looking back! Extream improvement. And used in extreme elements. Slammed into the ground while playing. Mud, rain also. Anyone who has been into paintball, or is knowledgeable in them, knows how closely related they are to our pcps. Electronic or not. Wish we had that technology back in the day, that has come to us now.

I cannot over emphasize how weak a point it is with any of the PCPs on the market , letting the barrel hang out over the the air tank without any support is a recipe for disaster ! You have a top notch barrel that needs support at the least half way down the barrel ! As always you do a great job of covering the guns you test impeccably ! 👍

Cal slug downrage with 74 ft/lbs... but i never fell in love with pcps...with springers it happens all the time. Workhorses ..... any time you can depend on them.. accuracy is also great.. 1/2 inch groups at 50 yards..only problem is, you cant hunt with springers at an altitude over 2.600 feet..they loose a significant amount of energy and you can hear the piston hitting hard the wall of the chamber... not good for the gun and the seals... if i were a rich man i'd buy 3 whiscombes... period... my best wishes to all of you airgunners...

Amazing review once again Steve. Top notch. Love the gears turning....mine turn also when watching!! Ha! So fitting it's genius! LMAO!!....I have been considering shooting .177 slugs and heavy pellets out of 1 or 2 of my Hatsans for the application of pesting massively invasive birds and red squirrels at distance here on my 5 acres which allows me an easy 100yds. At the time this crazy thoughT seemed it would be a challenge as there were not many options for .177 slugs in the market.....at that time about 2 years ago. So, I kind of lost a bit of hope and did what most would do and looked at larger calibers. The sucky part about it for me was I knew that it would mean another rifle purchase (not that I mind of course) and more cost for ammo which I can go through out here with no neighbors or limitations......Well, fast forward to these current developing times and now??.....It's becoming less of a concern now that.177 is in the slug world. AWESOME! I am SO pumped seeing these capabilities at 100 in swirling winds (which I have out here in flat agricultural land) with the displayed accuracy opening the window of opportunity to NOT have to necessarily use a larger caliber/power to dispatch such small pests and vermin as it it's not required as we who have exploded feather or fur with unnecessary amounts of wasted air and lead have executed.......As stated above.....I am PUMPED! I always considered the .177 too be the "laser" of the calibers due to its snappier velocities and straighter trajectories overall.........TOUCHDOWN!! AND THE CROWED GOES WILD!! If my guessed RDW# is chosen by fate.....I just might break the social- distancing rule for a second to squeeze you like a brother and a friend out of sheer joy and disbelief while wearing my mask..... Thanks again Steve....Your tireless work does not go unnoticed. - Corey

Nice rifle, as is always the case with Daystate👍 Now what is a very pleasant surprise is the power/velocity achievable with this rifle. I was expecting the typical 850 fps to 865 fps that Daystate is known for, and for $3,000 with tax here in the stay s with tax, that would be completely unacceptable. Daystate didn't let us down however, they came through with the goods and appear to give well over 1000 fps with the 177 model! I would be very very interested to know what the 25 caliber model of this rifle puts out for power/velocity!!

Where do you go from here ? There's nowhere else to go but down. This could make you an instant snob, and I'd love to get in line. I would think this rifle definitely qualifies as "boringly accurate". I mean there's NOTHING like the feeling of getting dime size groupings, but there's no challenge here. I still want one !!

Good to see you buddy. Greetings from Poland. 😎 🤪 Daystate is ridiculously expensive in these digital driven lines of airguns. Even for European standards, where airgun is the only gun you would like to have. Because the people here will more likely pay more since the papers for firearm are a pain in the ass. And you still cant shoot with firearm out in the wild nowhere nor on your private land underground - if its not a licensed, and regulated "shooting (range) underground".

Hey Steve ! I'm from India and I have a question. In India airguns are No.1 / No.2 but in America and Europe, they are .177, .20, .22, .25 & .30. So, my question is which one is equivalent to No.2 airgun from India. In India .22 is called Maneture or something. Could you highlight for me please?

Great review on a great gun, Steve! Man, 15g slugs cutting thru the wind to deliver MOA accuracy at 100 yards too! Pretty cool for a .177. I noticed that when you were done filling to 250 bar, the display kept dropping from 251, 250, 249, 248... Was there a leak or a just a "settling in" time on the gun's pressure sensor? Thanks, Phil
@Powerpickle68
@Powerpickle68 3 года назад
That and temperature dropping. Best to fill slowly from a bottle, filling fast creates heat.
@AEAC

Nah, everything is working as it should. In my experience, all gauges drop like this in any circumstances where one fills at the speed I did... the operator just cant tell because they don't have a digital readout in front of them reading "1" bar at a time :-). If I were going out hunting, I'd give it another shot after a few seconds of the pressure coming down (charge cooling off). Steve

Steve, I've been shooting my Crosman 177cal break barrel long distances for a while using JSB 10 grain slugs with good results. Here is the best I can get accuracy wise at this point using 3-9x40 scope. 50 yards = 1.5" groups and hitting metal chickens, 100 yards = 3.5" groups and hitting golf balls.150 yards = 4.5" groups. Question: Is there anything I can do to eak out some more accuracy from this gun mechanically speaking either by (a) doing something to the stock set up or (b) doing some custom modification or part upgrade? Thanks!

First off I would like to say thank you for such a informed look into this beautiful piece of art air gun. These air rifles are way overpriced, when comparable ones on the market are damn near half the sticker price. Do not get me wrong daystates are beautiful air guns and they are badassed paper punching beasts. But they lack infield durability, when you get into these over engineered air guns, it becomes a pride thing, and not so much a modular dependable infield thing. But in reality Daystate's and other precision (AKA Gucci Guns) air rifles are more of a reflection of the owners ability to spend 3 grand on a paper punching aesthetically gorgeous air rifle. I am not knocking the owners of these guns, simply pointing out their air rifles lack in anything infield, or rough trail application. Were as lets say the Texans, Brococks, and a litany of lesser cost, comparable FPS/FPE rifles that are virtually combat ready competitors, that can take a beating, fairly easy (where you do not need a electricians/engineers degree) to repair. Again do not misunderstand me. If someone were to give me one of them I would use it, and take it to the range once or twice to show my buddies, suffer the never ending taunts from bringing a gucci gun to show off :) then hang it on the wall as a really pretty functional (in limited capacity) piece of art .
@AEAC
@AEAC 3 года назад
I feel ya about the price for sure but respectfully disagree about the rest. Stacking up in my world, the Redwolf tested more robust than most across the price point rainbow and its function/performance/tuning offering is simply GARGANTUAN... that's where the value lies, not in the looks. If keeping a glossy stock nice is a priority, one can get the walnut or the Safarri model 👍. Steve

@@AEAC Thank you for your response, very few channels respond to commenters. Your opinion, and technical insights on these air rifles is invaluable, I want to say that. I appreciate your passion it means a lot to a lot of us air gunners who are looking for that next best way to diversify our arsenals. Your videos, and in depth discussion on these air rifles fits the I am researching specific air rifle niche, and we all appreciate it more than you know. Most people do not realize just how dramatic the leaps and bounds of air rifle technology has come, and continues to go! Air rifle technology to ballistic performance is catching up quickly with powder burners, and I foresee air rifles giving direct competition to those aforementioned firearms, int he next 5-10 years or sooner. So I say to you: Sir Keep up the good works, and keep us simple minded peons like myself up to speed to the next greatest thing!

A very good, competent review. However, these kind of 'airguns' are so far removed from traditional airguns that I find I have no interest in owning something like it. A tx, hw, lgu, etc. all give me the 'I wants', but not this. The tech interests me, but for the shooting experience, this seems more akin to a firearm.
