Wow, another great idea!!!! Thank you sir. If you stuck a patio umbrella in one of the center holes, it would even be safe from water when it is raining. Take care my friend. Thanks again for sharing.
LOVED this idea but didn't have drill bit that would work and so stretched two layers of wire fencing over the opening and put the rim on tight... then trimmed the wire making sure all loose ends were bent up and then used wide Gorilla tape to make sure no loose ends were sticking out. AMAZING RESULT.
This is a great idea. I have several of these plastic barrels and lots of hand tools that need organizing . Thx so much. I believe we r somewhat neighbors, from Mountain Home.
I was impressed at the access, I had thought of doing that, but figured everything would get stuck together and be a real pain to extract. So its good to see that it can work when done right. My wall arrangement works ok, but only three tools per rack, or you are back into stacking and unstacking....
LOVE LOVE LOVE this idea!! What a quick way to dolly it around to a farther garden space & you have all the tools there. Because you know how you always need the "next" tool & pretty soon~~they are all out anyway. And then you have to pick them all up & go store them away.
I have haven't measured yet. But, assuming the barrel is 4ft tall and the tool is 5ft tall clear, technically, at least a 9 ft ceiling is required for tbe tool to clear. Of course, one could angle it out, but it would be awkward, considering other tools are in the way.
18 handles take up approximately 127 sq. inches of area and the barrel has 1017.88 sq inches of area. The total handles are taking up 8% of the interior space. I do not think 92% open space is a problem. Mine works fine.
Brilliant! Im so glad i watched this vid, this just saved me some time and some money. luckily I have 4 of those plastic barrels. Make me one as well. thanx
Made mine today. You forgot to mention what a pain in the butt it is removing the cutout plug from the hole saw EVERY time. Took me an hour to drill 20 holes.
Great idea but it won't work in my 7 1/2 feet shed without hitting drywall ceiling. Hopefully I can get a shorter barrel to make it work. Also half of my tools have D handles.
instead of using rocks, how about a 3/4 plywood bottom 2 to 4 inch extra on all sides with wheels at the corners now its mobile, pretty sure you can make PVC pipe racks also seen them done for fishing poles
I have never had that comment before. If you notice the shed in the background is where I store the tools and it has a 6 1/2 foot ceiling. I am 6' 3" and you can see how short the building is in the video. As you raise the tool you can lean it to one side and it comes right out. Thanks for the comment!
In my area you can find them on market place face book. Car washes have them sometime. The soap in shipped in them in this type 55 gallon plastic barrel.
