This week's focus is multisyllabic words that end with OUS. Words that end with OUS can always be used as adjectives (ex: fabulous, generous). OUS is a derivational suffix that can be added to a word to change it from a noun to an adjective (ex: danger/dangerous, rigor/rigorous). Because OUS starts with a vowel, we need to follow the silent E rule by dropping silent E from a base word before adding the suffix (ex: fame/famous, nerve/nervous).
