We delve further into the food of the Shakers and eat some warm savory bean soup from the Community! Cookbook Used: The Shaker Cookbook by Caroline B Piercy 1953
I didn't know what's Shakers so I googled! Another new thing I learned from your video! I love to visit Shaker community once everything cleared! The bean soup looks good too!
What a neat cookbook!! I will have to keep my eye out for one. I love ham and bean soup. I’ve never put tomatoes in it and I’ve never use the bean mix that you’ve talked about. I’ll have to do that.
The tomatoes really were a nice addition! The recipe calls for fresh but they're out of season so I resorted to canned. 😁 The cookbook is definitely worth a buy as its filled with so many interesting and good recipes! I think you would really enjoy it!!
Nice video, I love your videos, they are always enjoyable and relaxing. I also enjoy the retro look of your kitchen and the pretty robin's egg blue. :) Maybe you could do a Pennsylvania Dutch recipe in future. I have a cookbook here if you wanted the name to check it out.... P.S. The Shakers I visited years ago were in Harrodsburg, Kentucky... it was called "Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill" and it's not too far from Louisville.
Thank you so much! My house was built in the 50's so I wanted my kitchen to look like that Era! It was a lot of fun to do. We will be doing a Pennsylvania Dutch dish later this month; but I'll take the name of any interesting cookbook! 😄 I'm addicted!! Pleasant Hill was where we went and we absolutely loved it! It was so nice to unwind there!
