Railways should run this train along the mettupalayam to coimbatore section on a daily basis adjacent to mettupalayam to ooty passenger, so that a complete vintage train journey can be made from coimbatore to ooty.

for godsake why do ppl have to hang on the engine? And the loco should have been painted in its original livery instead of the gaudy tricolor. A good occaoson spolt by over enthusiasim
Thank you. AFAIK public wasnt allowed. I went 2 hours in advance and met the SM. He was inside the coach when i asked the RPF whether i could get in. he asked the RPF to allow me inside and take videos but said he didnt have the rights to allow me to travel by the train :(
This piece of Heritage steam engine should be arranged in out skirts of Chennai city, in a park like an exhibition by S R with an IRTCTC management undertaking, just like Rewari Rail Museum.
Please note that Fairy Queen is EIR 22; the loco in video is EIR 21, restored fully by Perambur Loco Works. It has video camera, GPS, to name a few goodies.
you have to wonder how much of that loco is actually original? like it would be possible to return stephenson's rocket to working order by replacing everything apart from the whistle. which is why they just built a replica and kept the original in a museum...
That depends what you characterize as original, is a valve from lets say 1860, or a set of new pistons from lets say 1885, no locomotive that has had a service life is factory original. and you can argue that keeping them running with the parts they need is also a form of preservation of the machine as long as the overall machine stays intact and you only change the expendable objects that are meant to be changed. From a more philosophical perspective: The majority of your body cells has also been replaced over the course of 7 to 10 years yet you are still the same and some cells are made to last a life time. same thing with machine parts.
You need to re word the video the title is fine, that isn't the oldest steam loco it is the oldest running one. Plus you need to make it infer that it is the oldest locomotive that runs not the longest running as there are many that have run far longer than this.
Unfortunately, this isn't the oldest operatable steam locomotive. That title belongs to the John Bull. I think the better title would be the oldest locomotive in continual operation.
Excuse me, IndianTrains Railfan, I read that this is one of the oldest steam locomotives in the world that's still in full operation, and I was wondering just how often do you run her and how much running can she still handle?
IndianTrains Railfan no i must thankyou for showing us this marvelous video hats off sir and keep doing like these videos and feast our eyes once again thank you sir
This historic event totally ruined by disfiguring this priceless specimen of a steam locomotive with what are considered noble colours. For the event to have been of any value to true steam aficionados , the engine should obligatorily have been refurbished to its original finish as it left the factory. This event can only be classified as absolutely degrading and sacrilegious and an insult to this glorious steam engine and its long gone makers and to all steam enthusiasts across the world. An absolute tragic farce for sure.
