18th Lok Sabha LIVE: India's Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi Addresses Lower House of Parliament
India's Lower House of Parliament, the Lok Sabha, has convened for the sixth session of the 18th Lok Sabha today (July 1, 2024). Ruckus ensued in the Lok Sabha amid LoP and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s first speech in the 18th Lok Sabha. The uproar was first witnessed when Gandhi gestured to the Treasury Bench and said that “those who call themselves Hindus talk about violence”. Continuing his response to the Motion of Thanks to the President’s Address, he went on to lash out at the Centre over not fulfilling farmers’ demands and the ongoing row over NEET. Earlier in the day, Opposition members demanded a separate one-day discussion on the NEET paper leak issue in the Lok Sabha and staged a walkout after they sought a clear assurance from the government on the issue.
