Operation Mausam, also known as Mission Mausam, is a two-year initiative by the Government of India to improve the country's weather and climate forecasting and management. The mission's goals include: Increasing India's ability to deal with climate change and extreme weather Improving weather surveillance, forecasting, and modeling Enhancing India's climate resilience The mission will use advanced technologies like AI, machine learning, cloud chambers, radars, satellites, and supercomputers. The Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) will implement the mission, which has a financial outlay of ₹2,000 crore over two years. The word "Mausam" is a Hindi word that means "season," "weather," or "climate". The term "monsoon," which refers to seasonal rain-bearing winds, comes from the word "Mausam".
