As usual I forgot a lume shot, sorry. The lume is EXcellent!! I also forgot to mention that my wrist size is 7 inches - so you can evaluate how this 39 mm watch wears. It’s a watch really worth having.a look at.
I considered one a Raven a few months back but opted for a Helson instead, same Myota movement but a bit cheaper, from what I researched Raven have a solid reputation and their pieces look top notch, thanks for the review, it certainly looks like a watch that would last a generation.
Good to hear, Anthony. Enjoy your Helson. I have been looking at their skindivers many times as they look really good. I did not pull the trigger but they do look nice. Same price of 700 USD as Raven, but then bigger at 41mm and not the fun summer colour. So Helson is a good option. There is, however, just something extra in the quality of the Raven when you get it in hand.
@@WristMech I've just bought that Squale 1545 I mentioned in other comments...I think it may be a while before I look at anything else.. what a watch...ive bought & sold for years and this is by a mile the finest sub £500 I've ever owned.
You seem to gravitate to many of the watches I find appealing as well. I came so close to purchasing the Raven Bronze Trekker with blue dial and printed markers, but eventually opted for the Squale Sub-39MON. I still lust after the Raven, so perhaps someday. I just need you now to purchase/review an Anordain Model 1, Weiss 38mm, Marathon General Purpose hand-wound, and GS SBGW231 to satisfy all my current cravings! HA!
Hi MrBradly. We DO have similar tastes. The sub39 is wonderful, I simply love Squale. The Bronze trekker looks absolutely stunning with that blue dial - only I’m not so fond of the patina on bronze. But the blue dial on that is mesmerizing. You can’t get it anymore, but he’s doing a dark green dial that also looks nice. Regarindg Anodain: I have actually kept an eye out for them and wanted to get one. There’s just something about the numbers and the size that has kept me from it. But I keep monitoring them because I know these guys are going to make a home-run one day, and I do want an enamel dial from them. The SBGW231 is awesome, especially the colour of the dial, wow. But I have the skyflake, so the Grand Seiko budget is already used. I have a feeling you will get one of these watches before me, so when you do, make a review and then I can sit back in the cinema and look :-)
@@WristMech Yeah, the bronze patina is a concern for me too, but I believe the alloy(CuSn8) used by Raven will not tarnish in an overly aggressive manner. That "no longer available" blue dial was special! Noticed the crown sits closer to case on bronze models as well. I'm waiting to see the design on the new Anordain Model 2. Like you I keep waiting for them to release a model that meets all my desires. It was mentioned to me by their staff that a hand wound model 1 may be arriving in the near future! The Payne's grey dial is so alluring to me. Congrats on the GS Skyflake, the SBGW231 is my current grail. Ha, not sure in my RU-vid abilities, but I am starting to post mini reviews on my Instagram at mrbradlytellstime.
Hey M.M, thanks for your message. I am sooo busy, but I miss doing reviews, so I’ll get back to it soon. I have several good watches to show. Thanks for your support!
I have run into the same problem as you. Micro brands produce a single batch, and if you don’t get on it right away, then it’s gone and almost impossible to find. People like them so much, that they are not parting with them. Just like I don’t want to part with mine. But the good news is that I know Raven will produce another version in autumn 2021. He hasn’t disclosed the dial colours, but I will bet he will be doing at least one colourful dial. Keep track of his website, and you may get a good chance in autumn.
You’re totally clueless on how to wear a watch. It should be left of your wrist bone. If you put your hands together as if you were praying, the crown should not dig into your hand .
