What a great video Dean! It's super cool that you and your wife dig together. You have the BEST attitude for digging and you should expect continued great success at DIV's! See you in November!
Thanks,Tony! We do have a great time digging together. I've watched most all of your videos and your passion for finding CW relics is unmatched! Hope to see and meet you this fall wherever the hunt is!!
I'm right around the corner from this site. I almost went to it but had this feeling my AT Pro wouldn't be able to hit the depths of that field. Maybe I will try this fall. Great video and finds!, wish I could have been there.
Dean I just got picked up for DIV 37 and like you I have a TDI and this will be my first DIV on hot ground. Loved these videos. I learned a ton from your videos and watched very closely to see what your TDI settings were. Any recommendations using the TDI on these hunts would be great. Subbed you as well. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Mental! Congrats on your first DIV. youll have a blast! Brandy Rock is a great farm, not only is it a battlefield it also has a ton of undug pits and huts. As for using the TDI, dig all of your hgh tones, TDI,s love brass! Nails will fool you until you get an ear for them compared to minie balls.especially nails on end or ones withiut heads. Once you get your ear tuned to the difference( bullets are smoother in tone) you wont dig as much junk. Other than that just go super slow and dig all barely audible signals. Theyre a great machine, im using mine as a backup now since I took the leap and bought a GPX 4500 for the spring hunts. Look me up at the hunt, ill help you out any way i can! GL&HH!
DiggerDean thanks Dean I appreciate the tips. I'll definitely look you up while I'm there. I'm car pooling with Bob Shockey. I'll shoot a PM and give you my cell number. thanks again!
Dean... I Just tuned back to watch this video again. I just purchased a TDI and hope to be picked this year (2016) for the fall hunt. This will be my second DIV. I would love to get with you and find out whats the best settings for the machine at DIV. I've used the MXT AP in the past with very little luck at Coles Hill. If the new location dosen't pan out I understand it will be back at Beau.
Thanks Agildog. Like you I also used an MXT at Coles hill. I got lucky and found some shallow huts on a hillside that was not as mineralized as the rest of the farm. All the glass was broken but managed to find a good assortment of relics.i would be happy to get with you at the hunt if we get selected.Soon I hope! Also if it works out that were both in the hunt, I'm going to need 1 or 2 more riders if you're interested? Another TDI user would be nice! Good luck, hope to see you there!
Nice video. I'm hoping to get the invite to my first DIV this fall. I'm doing some research into a Pulse machine and the TDI seams to be a good entry level machine. How do you think it compares to the Infinium, ATX or GPX. Also, I see you are using the Minor John's coil on your TDI. How does it preform over the stock TDI coil? Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you.
Thanks! Hope you get invited to your first DIV, there's nothing like it! Personally I think the TDI is above the Infinium and equal to the ATX but the GPX's are in a class by themselves. They're all good machines, it's a matter of what you want to spend. The Miner John coil was the 14" mono. It worked well there. If you're looking at the TDI, try to find the Regular TDI Pulsescan, not the SL model. Hope this helps.
Well I got picked. If you want to PM me we could talk. I'd love to find out what settings your using. I did steal the ones i saw on this video. Why the change in frequency around 2-3 o clock. I haven't got the hang of the ground balance yet. I do have a ride already as 4 others will coming too.
Dean Great hunt, I enjoyed the video. was wondering do you belong to any kind of club in S.E. Ohio? I'm over by Lancaster and can't find anyone who's into metal detecting. Thanks for your videos and any help.
Im not familiar with the XLT, but I used an MXT on my first hunt and did ok. All VLF machines struggle with the hot ground out there, however you will find stuff but most all of it will sound like iron so you end up digging way more holes than you would if you had a PI detector.
