As always, thanks for the great video. F4 and Alt +Down Arrow are very useful. I believe there are many users who don't know about these. Many often I use Alt + Down arrow on a cell to get a peek on the unique values in the active column. Unfortunately it will show only text values in the column

@chandoo I rarely use tables and just use formulas on the data without making it a table. What are the key advantages and disadvantages between just using the source data and turning the data into a table with regards to formulas and graphs?

Hi PH... I show some of the benefits of tables at the start of the video. For me the biggest things are, 1) structural references, so your formulas feel natural 2) linked graphs auto update when you add / change data 3) making and updating pivots on tables is easy 4) tables make it easy for you to connect other tables with data model feature 5) you need tables to clean-up or transform data in Power Query 6) tables are how power query outputs the data 7) formatting and maintaining them is a breeze See this page for some more on tables - chandoo.org/wp/data-tables/

Hi Chundoo, I have one cell with date then number then date then number... I want to sum the row and exclude the date from the sum i.e Col. A $ value , Col B date, Col C $ Value, Col D Date.. and so on so forth... the last col should only show sum of $ value and not sum of date (as excel consider date also as a number). I don't want to use helping cell... :)

@Chandoo I can't get Alt + F11 to open VBE. Any ideas why? I'm just use to that but using Alt,L,V is just longer. Thoughts?

Hmm.. sounds like some other program (outside Excel?) has mapped that key or you are not _really_ pressing the ALT F11. In many keyboards function keys are often combined with other keys and you may need to hold down a FN key to activate them.

There are no individual shortcuts like that in Excel. You can use CTRL+1 to open the format screen and apply the format from there.

relative formulas in table (for YTD calcs) can cause problems. I suggest using Power Query to add them.

The shortcuts are like booze. Cant close an excel file without using it. Especially, F2, Ct+1, f4, cd+d. If you can please cover the following issue i have in another video. In an Excel Table, once we filtered, if i want to replace a column's cell values , I needed to select each cell with Ctrl. Otherwise it replace the cell between the range. (not just filtered cell). Thanks.
