Josius's dad comes across as loving and caring, but Josius's mood always dampens whenever his dad is on the phone. Even the scary stuff that has allegedly happened to him on the streets of ATL (getting shot at, the gf in tent situation, etc.) doesn't put him in as bad of a mood as he's in when he's talking to his dad, which is ironic to say the least. Even if his dad is sincere in his concern for his son (not making a judgement on that one way of the other), there is still SOMETHING unfortunate that happened in Josius's life that he blames his father for, even if it wasn't directly caused by his father. I don't know what that something is, but I suspect that Josius has experienced trauma and may resent his dad for being complicit in it, not protecting him from it, or not handling it with compassion. What I am indeed certain about is that they need family therapy ASAP because Josius is trying to replace his real family with his "street family", and that's not a safe thing to do.
some must obviously must be blind. If they can't see that he has some kind of mental disability and with that has lost himself and can't comprehend how life really should be. And he is on drugs then that's a seal of acknowledgment that he is lost. that's common sense. but the interviewer went out and looked for him again . So he didn't asked to be found again to be documented. Some really make not cool comments to feel good by knocking another down. pity. what happened to try to look why are these people lost. and why wasn't the family there. it's sad to hurt someone when they already are hurt. facts.

In one of his first interviews he said his dad raped him? Not sure if that is true but I really don't believe ppl would make something up. In all honesty unless I misunderstood why would the interviewer believe he would want to deal with his aggressor?

I had a cousin that chose to be homeless because she thought my aunt wanted to control her and no matter how good my Aunt was to her she always found her way back to the underworld and sadly she passed away as a homeless person and mental illness is serious

I have been to Paducah Kentucky and have lived in many other areas there too. No one will bother him unless he goes there on Negativity. People need to stop living in fear. This man is 19 years old. Let him learn his own way. He said he went to Gateway and they do help with apartments, school and jobs. I think, These adults are still trying to control him. I have a long distance relationship with my biological (I don't even call him D.A.D. no more)...I would rather live under a bridge than stay with him again. I did not watch from the beginning thus I have no idea what his dad did to him. But even if his dad did something, no one is perfect; parents are not perfect and if his dad is trying to make amends, he should give him a chance. I still feel that something is controlling his psyche. No one in the right frame of mind would prefer to be on the streets homeless, as opposed to getting help. He is not even cognizant of the world we live in. I say that because he is bent on going to Kentucky. His girlfriend said it clearly that her family does not care for Blacks and yet he cannot process that. Also, he is not processing that there is more to bringing a child into this world than just carrying a child and giving birth. He is not thinking beyond the moment. What a sad affair.

I like how Josias’s dad changed his approach. He wasn’t getting his message through in the last call. Mental health is a serious thing and I respect the fact that his dad continues to try even though his son rejects his every offer. Whatever happened in the past really affects Josias and I’m sure it’s frustrating for his parents that he prefers his current situation over what his father is trying to offer. I can relate and I respect his dad so much man. Hopefully Josias matures and realizes he can mend that relationship whilst maintaining an “independent” lifestyle.

Josias' growth from the first phone call with his dad to now is showing. Even in this one, he went from saying he's NOT going with him to only going if he can bring "his girl". That's growth! I see that there's actually shame when his dad is "around" (in this case on the phone) which likely leads to feelings of stress for him. What that says to me is that there is a sliver of hope for their relationship if the dad respects the boundaries set by his child. There is still love there. Praying that all of this gets worked out as soon as possible. I actually appreciate you facilitating all of this, Mr Marcus.
