Correct me if below steps are correct for adding a new variant/step to existing job in production 1) create new variant 2) go to sm36, enter existing bg job name, click on step and define new step with new variant? 3) add start conditions? Is it how we need to update existing job ?

Hi Brundagowda, I think you need to whether you have enough background work process or not. Check that in Sm50 tcode. If you have define parameter rdisp/wp_no_btc. Once that done, you can define your respective background jobs in SM37. You can also copy one existing job multiple times and change variant and step accordingly
