i've been interested in playing harp for years but i got dissuaded by my family since they were big and expensive. but then i found out about the smaller lyres and lyre harps. Was going to get the Aklot 15 string harp, but i went with their 16 string lyre instead after i watched your review of it. i'm so excited to get it soon and start learning! maybe i'll get this one once i actually get a bit better and want one with levers, or i'll invest more since i know i'll use it
Based on your fabulous review I have just bought myself one of these. Amazon didn't have the lever one though, so I got the unlevered one for £132.99 which will suit me fine www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08YNKNFXC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 You mentioned getting different strings for this harp, as I think I would get confused with the strange colour combo on this one, as I am just starting out with the harp, I think this would be important for me. Can you give me a link to where I can get the set of correctly colour coded strings please? also have you done a video on how to string your harp? Many thanks.
Of course! I would contact Robinson's Harp Shop, they have string charts for some of the Chinese harps and may have one for this one as well - or they can generate one for you! I don't have a video on stringing yet, but there are several on RU-vid 😊
@@MusicalMollyKhan Many thanks, I will do that, although I now realise the harp comes with a spare set of strings, which look from the picture to be the correct colours, so I will wait and see.
I just purchased the beautiful sounding roosebeck lute lyre harp and it was super affordable and no I'm not being paid to say this! No plink at all. Just will balanced rich deep tones to bright tones. I love it for it's mobility also
@@MusicalMollyKhan If you ever get one, I'd love to see an unboxing/review! They look like a fun alternative to a traditional harp that would be fun to take outside! :)
Thank you so much for all of your reviews! I saw this on Amazon and considered it for the levers, but the price sounded too good to be true. I was hoping someone had given a detailed review on RU-vid, and sure enough, you did! After hearing your comments I think I'll save up for the Derwent 26 after all. It'll be my first harp - and the last thing I want is to have issues OTHER than beginner's struggles!
Hi there - based on the sound (which is always a compromise with an instrument like this but anyway) which small harp would you recommend? I'd like to get an opinion on around 19 strings as a "casual harp" (I already have my "real harp")
Life in boxes. I remember that when we moved from NE to TX. Good luck with all of it. On to the video... this looks like a good little harp. It seems to be a step above my 15-string Aklot. It's nice to see levers on a harp in this price range.
Oof, and I thought my cross town move was a lot! I can't imagine crossing states. It is a nice harp, and the extra strings in the bass are very helpful - there's a lot more sheet music for 19 string harp than 15 string. But the levers are sadly not all that useful.
Good luck! I'm in your shoes too I don't know anything about music, so I got a Lyre just to play with and it's been a really good thing in my life. I still don't know anything about music though lol I need to invest in real music lessons I think
Thank you for reviewing this one. I was commit to order this one as well, but not sure about the levers. It either this or Walter one. But this one is very compact size and sounded quite bright and louder than Walter harp I think.
It might! I restrung my 15 string and enjoyed the sound more for sure. Plus it's easier to play with the right colors on Vs and Fs 😅. I didn't find the levers very useful sadly.
@@MusicalMollyKhan ah, thank you so much for your reply. What strings did you use? The harp doesn’t look very sturdy to me 😬🤗🤗🤗 Very sad with the levers 🤷♀️😢
I looked and the seller I originally bought from seems to be out of stock. I did find one here, but honestly at that price ($450) I think you could get a much better quality harp: amzn.to/39GQLCB
I'm considering this or the aklot 15 string for my first harp (total musical instrument beginner) - but I know I will want to restring so they are the proper colours, as that will make learning from youtube easier -- I believe you mentioned you have restrung these harps, what type strings did you use? I hear it is important to get strings specific to the harp, but not sure what either this or the aklot require!
Great question! Robinson's Harp Shop has the string chart for the Aklot 15 and can hook you up with the right ones - just email them 😊 I'm not sure about this one unfortunately, I haven't changed the strings yet though I am planning on it!
Not bad for mass market, but I’m glad I have my harp instead! 🤗 thanks for showing this one to us and good luck with your move! Will you have a dedicated music room for all your instruments?
