Have lived in Abilene since 1972! I have lived in a small farming town (Hamlin), a large City Fort Worth, and even a short time in Midland. My favorite out of all of these is Abilene! If you are a Conservative you will feel right at home!

We have stayed in Abilene three times on our trips from Nova Scotia Canada to our wintering site in CA. I would have been there again in 2020 but "you know what" happened. Abilene is a terrific place, we loved it's history. Visited the Frontier museum (twice) and could not believe that we were allowed to take our dog into the museum with us, YES a very dog friendly town. It is clean ,friendly and a great place to spend a couple of weeks as we traverse that wonderful country called the USA. We WILL be back once all the madness dies down and look forwrd to seeing everyone at the Whistle Stop RV Resort.

My Dad was stationed at Dyess AFB and my Brother was born there. My Mom graduated from McMurray College. We left in 96. If we stayed I would have gone to Cooper HS and I was the first 8th grade class that went for the full 3 years from 6th to 8th at clack middle school.

I appreciate your videos. My husband is being stationed there and I didn’t know if I was going to like it. I’ve lived in west Texas about an hour from Odessa, lived in Euless, and Ft. Worth and right now we’re in Mineral Wells. Abilene looks A LOT better than Mineral Wells 🤣. Your vids eased my worry! Thank you!!

Thank you for this video. I’m looking for a good place to retire (have to leave California…too expensive to retire here) and Abilene sounds like a wonderful place to park these bones until nothing moves anymore. Hope I can afford a nice, cozy apartment.

Can anyone help me understand the humidity of Abilene? I am used to Los Angeles arid climate, hot into the 90s for summer. Are Abilene summers hot and arid or are they humid? I’ve been to Austin and San Antonio in August and it was the most disgusting humid heat I have ever felt, like absolutely horrifically hot and sticky, please tell me Abilene is more dry ?

Abilene tends to be less humid than Austin and San Antonio, but the summers are extremely hot, so days with 100º+ and 40% humidity are not uncommon. For under $2,500 a lot of families look at Forrest Meadows, Carriage Hills, Lytle South, Parkside Place, Hampton Hills, or Butterfield Meadows. There are a lot of great neighborhoods in Abilene under that price, we would definitely recommend coming to visit and checking out all of them before making a decision!

Abilene is the medical hub for our area! We have two full hospitals operated by Hendrick Health. We also have an abundance of Urgent Care clinics scattered around town
