Yall focusing on the wrong thing. Yes, it was tragic especially considering this wasn’t a medically necessary surgery, but she died due to the doctor’s negligence/malpractice, not because she wanted breast augmentation
The medical professionals are being dealt with. Now the message to other young people and parents is this...major surgery is a risk. General anesthesia is a risk. Every person reacts differently....
No, people just have REAL concerns over such a young beautiful girl having parents that would rather pay to change their ALREADY PERFECT CHILD than convince her to be confident and love herself AS IS!!!! People who voluntarily put their bodies through the literal trauma of surgery just for looks, carries some blame. This whole situation is ridiculous as well as her parents contribution.
Amen, people should be able to go in and get a little procedures done safely and not being administered anesthesia in the wrong spot/in the wrong way so they suffer brain injuries/cardiac arrest and then be left there for hours. If they had called emergency the moment they found her maybe she would have have stood a chance from the anesthesiologist inability to do his job.
No surgery is safe. There are always risks. Everybody knows that. It's probably why she was nervous in the first place, and her mom had to reassure her that it would be fine (from an interview with the parents). There are no guarantees when you go under anesthesia. BUT these doctors should be held responsible for their extremely unprofessional behavior which led to this girl's death.

Yes. Perfect at 19. I look completely different at 30 than I did at 19. My breasts actually just grew a bit more recently at freaking 30. Young girls your body is developing!
Ok but I actually HAD to get a breast augmentation. Like I developed very early(DD cup) and I have VERY thin skin on my breasts, and it caused severe back and shoulder issues. We went to a few doctors and one of them suggested just getting a breast lift with a small implant, so that’s what I did and it literally saved my back and saved me from having to get surgeries on my back and shoulders later on from those developing issues I had before surgery. It’s not always about “social media” and people “trying to be perfect” because I wasn’t trying to be perfect. I just wanted to be out of pain.

The question is how did retained his license after first wrongful death? Did anybody sued him? Was there even a record to check before he was hired again?
Yes!!! This is something everyone should be aware. I did breast reduction in december and me, my mom and even my doctor said and knew that this is a big surgery. It may not be as complicated as a heart, brain, intestine surgery, but it every surgery should be treated equally. You have anesthesia, sterilization, the cut, the recovery singularities... It's important to know people who have had surgeries with the doctor, to ask all the questions, and the doctor should ask you questions too! My doctor even asked me if I lived near his office and if I had a way to be in a hospital he was affiliated with within 10 minutes. And with covid, he was even worried about who was going to help me and also would be isolated with me. All these things make a HUGE difference! People need to really know and trust their doctors. The girl's mom was reassuring her "she would be fine". If the girl wasn't confident about it, she shouldn't have been persuaded into it.
Honestly this is crazy because for any experienced surgeon this would never happen cuz a BA is pretty straightforward they open the pocket and place the implant like how do you have a license and still mess up.... scary.
Not everybody who chooses augmentation is doing it from self-hatred. Sometimes it's just nice. She was NOT "rushed" to the hospital since they waited 5 hours before calling for an ambulance. They were hoping against hope she'd magically wake up after they OD'd her and left her unattended. Gross negligence and arguably negligent homicide for not calling 911.
This is true. I started budding at age 10 then it pretty much just stopped as soon as it started and I had bee stings for breasts and wore a 32AA. I was totally flat and everyone in my family has beasts except one aunt I had, and they compared me to her, always. My family kept saying that I would probably get them late and was a late bloomer, but it never happened. By my last year of high school, I was already set on getting a breast augmentation which I did at 21. I just wish I waited til maybe after I had kids because pregnancy can give you breasts and there are lots of changes to the breasts that maybe would have satisfied me if I just waited 4 more years til I had my son at 25/26. Also, perimenopause does a lot to the breasts. I regret that I didn’t embrace what I had and now have to technically get them replaced every 10 years. I have them 17 yea now and haven’t been able to afford another surgery, but I know I have to soon. It’s scary. Otherwise, I would have I have an explant surgery which would leave me totally flat chested with scars.
I myself has breast implants and I died on the table, thankfully I had good doctors on call and amazing nurses, I was brought back and didn't even know until they told me when I woke up in the recovering room. apparently, my body went into shock. if I can turn back time, I wouldn't have got it and my heart goes out to her family. but anything your body goes through sadly would have a consequence and it's just not worth it :(
@Burnt Blueberry Pancake it's the anesthesia that causes you to drop in HR and breathing if given too much. You also eventually juat go into a coma and possibly die.
Omg this is so sad... as a nurse myself this is total and utter neglect from the nurse and doctor.. there is literally no excuse for this. Some things are just ingrained in you as a medical professional. Makes no sense.
Reminder that surgery that requires anesthesia always has a risk of death or serious injury and should always be considered when considering elective surgical procedures.
Dieing from anesthesia is a s low is 1% in other words it'd pretty safe this case was a fail case from surgeon and not anesthesia itself ,u don't know why ppl decide to get plastic surgery just going to work everyday can end your life, and we sill decide to work
she didn't die of anesthesia per se. It's a case of negligence. The doctor and the nurses left her unattended for over 5 long hours. That's very absurd.
As a parent myself, I burst into tears when I saw how this young girl suffered. I could deeply feel that the young girl was frightened and hoping that the parents would stay with her in the hospital all the time. Although she has sadly passed away, I would like to bring up an important topic and hopefully can prevent this from happening again. It is really heart broken. Why would the parents let their 18-year old daughter to go for breast surgery? Was it for medical reason or simply for enhancing outer beauty? Before the surgery, this young girl looked perfectly healthy and happy and so I assume that the intent of the surgery was not for a medical reason. In my opinion, true beauty is from the inside of an individual. If a person is polite, has a loving heart and a friendly smile, he or she is always beautiful. When someone admire your true beauty, you should be thankful and should appreciate it. However, if someone stares at your beautiful face, you should raise an alert. All young people are pretty regardless your look, gender or color. Young people have so much energy and potentials and the world is awaiting for them to explore. Don't put too much attention to your outside appearance. Don't put too much toxic makeup products on your body. Don't go for risky breast implant surgeries. Individuals or businesses that promote these products want your money only. They do not care about you or your health. To all the young people out there, you are already very beautiful. Don't let any toxic opinions or products to destroy your life. May her soul rest in peace!
Stop blaming the victim in which the blame should be attributed to the medical practitioners for gross negligence. This situation was a result of malpractice that could have occurred with any surgical procedure.
Doesn’t matter her age. She can be 40 years old after masectomy for breast cancer and going for reconstruction, ahe still would have the same outcome because rex meeker was grossly negligent.
Shes at peace. And personally it's better for her to pass. I used to work n a rehab hospital and had a patient like her who also had cardiac arrest and she lived for years and years in the hospital and with severe brain damage. But no longer in s coma. She's sing you are my sunshine! Lol we loved her, but I saw what she was like before. When my daughter ended up with severe head injuries and a coma. I told her that it was ok for her to go to God if she wasn't going to be able to ride her bike and do things for herself. And the next day she died. I don't regret what I said. I will be home with her in a twinkling of an eye
I understand what you’re saying. I watch the show “the resident” and in some episodes you see what coma’s or brain damages do to the patient and family members
She was already so beautiful. That shouldn't have happened to her.. My daughter wants plastic surgery and I put my foot down told her no! And discourage it every time she brings it up.
My parents did the same and I thought they were ridiculous. Now I’m 34 and love my small boobs. With all that’s coming out about breast implant illness too, I’m so glad I never did it. Happy for people who chose to and it goes well but I value my health too much to risk it

No. Moral of the story: stop allowing doctors who are bad at their jobs to keep practicing. This is not the parent's fault, it's the doctors. I mean, she was 19 already and paid for it with her own money... What were they supposed to do? Lock her in their house until she no longer wanted it? At that point you can just hope for the best and help them find a good medical team.
You don’t know they encouraged her. They could’ve said please don’t. You definitely do not have young adults as children as you would know you couldn’t do a damn thing if they wanted surgery. Kinda crummy blaming the parents when this is 100% the doctor and anesthesiologist
