Respectfully, it doesn’t carry the same sting or cultural capital. In many parts of the world, women are wholly subjugated in written law and religious practice so no doubt women have to behave in a near formulaic way. However, in the Western world, even amongst some of the most evangelical people, one (you) can think of how parents typically view tomboys vs. effeminate sons (on that point/sidebar, there isn’t even a neutral - let alone positive - word for it). In part it could be not just misogyny but the nobility of standing up for oneself and being industrious which have been more qualities deemed for and by men. Also, girls and women are socialized & in many ways encouraged to share clothes, compliment each other, kiss each other and even dress in - what we consider - male clothing. A man explaining his situation in an animated way and being called “sassy” is - and God knows I hate this word - toxic. I do agree that women get called “masculine” a lot and there’s certainly been a difficulty with being seen as bossy and all - I will never say it isn’t real - but I think it is some situations warranted and even encouraged and when someone says it, it is to my understanding not a devaluation of your entire womanhood. With men, any sort of societal deviation - subtle or drastic - can lead them to self-harm, since there already isn’t a place for them to speak. It’s respect though towards you and your point regardless.
