It's crazy that even at 19 years old, he is exactly Jason Bateman. The mannerisms, the humour.. it's all exactly what you'd see if he was on Kimmel now.
I just watched his first appearance and he was a kid. And you're right. Here he is, fully formed adult. Verging on slick almost. I'm guessing he lost his virginity in the interim.
this man was an absolute genius, he always knew what's going on in every second of the show, Mr Carson was not only a great comedy mind and a performer but also was a great intellect and moral human, nobody never ever comes close to him as a talk show host.
No one like Carson. He was the best late night talk show host ever and will never be equaled. Never. Those days are long gone but watching these clips I’m taken back to the time when they originally aired. I know it sounds cliched but it really was a much simpler time. No social media and people weren’t walking around with their faces buried in their cell phones. Johnny Carson had a lot of nights off at this stage of his run on The Tonight Show. I was in high school, going into college, and I always made sure I stayed up and watched whenever Johnny was there hosting. I felt then what I know now…that this was something special and fleeting, a time we would never see again. The guests were great. A mixture of Hollywood legends who always got huge ovations from the audience and young up and comers (like Jason Bateman). Stars were more interesting back then and seemed to just shine a little brighter…a little more genuine. Through it all, Johnny was a consummate pro…always funny and engaging. He would retire not that long after this episode with Bateman aired. The late night landscape hasn’t been the same since. If you’re my age or older you know what I’m saying is true. Today, television isn’t the same and the big three networks, once completely dominant, have to fight to stay alive and even relevant. And those glorious years of late night talk are long gone.
I feel like Conan and lesser extent Leno are AMAZING at that too (no hierarchy between the three, I just agree about those traits, they are rare in hosts)
Ah, the old fake ID. So prevalent around this time (late 80s). It’s funny watching Carson’s reaction. When I watch this clip I’m reminded Jason Bateman is my age and Carson was the same age as my beloved late grandfather.
I forget who told this story, but maybe someone else will remember and chime in below. The person who told it said they went to a party that Michael J Fox was at and, as he was arriving, Jason Bateman rolls up and says, "Can you believe you're at a party with BOTH Teen Wolves?" That's probably the funniest thing he could ever say in that moment.
Thing with Johnyy, he LISTENED, unlike Fallon, who tries to UP the guest. I was so happy when Jimmy Fallon took over, but became very disappointed with him always trying to be the STAR. Johnny sometimes wouldn't say 10 words in 15 minutes when people like Dangerfield was on, or Rickles. NONE of the late night clowns do that anymore.
@@Bertiesghost yep and a unfunny liberal hater .see he probably got the message .be a good little commie liberal and you keep your unfunny stupid job .Trump2024

I don’t understand how people are surprised at the maturity of child actors. lol Every interview people are like wow he/she’s the same. In order to become someone else you have to understand who you are.
the best decision I ever made in my life was investing in financial market. Trust me guys, it pays a lot. I have come to realize that trading bitcoin is more profitable than holding it and waiting for it to skyrocket. If you trade without a expert then you are gambling and have no business in trading..
I have also been trading with him and the profits are secured and over a 100% return on investment directly sent to your wallet. Lack of trade discipline is the primary reason for in day trade losses. It is estimated that nearly 80-85% of day traders end up losing money in the stock market
