We're back with another feature from FL2K21, this time we catch up with Joel Steele and his 1900WHP stick shift mustang. During FL2K he came out swinging, securing the record for first manual domestic car in the 6 second 1/4 mile club! What's even more impressive is he's still running a factory ford block (*aftermarket internals) with Manley Performance valvetrain and using Turbo Smart for boost control. leroy is getting suspension right now. according to today's cleet vid. they let the entire back suspension lock up from not maintaining it. should be interesting soon.

I'm surprised the track officials didn't let them try it again considering the tree malfunctioned and the racer didn't break the rules... Anyways, if the race started like it should cleetus definitely would've lost for a couple of reason, 1. Being that his car is not a 6 second car and 2. Consistency wins and Leroy is anything but consistent.

@@thenegus5469 Correct, but the ones built in ford vehicles do not hold the power or shift as easily at rpm+power as GM ones. (04 cobra vs a 04 z06 in my experience)

The malfunction is caused by the moronic pointing of the exhaust towards the timing beams, the flames when he's on the 2 step trip the beams. Point the exhaust up and away from the beams if you're going to have it exit ahead of the front wheels.

There was some odd malfunctions at haltech in MIR also. Like the time clock went out. It's because there is insane mantience needed at these tracks and the "communities" near them or the state government keeps trying to take them down. The owners don't want to put money into them it's sad. Jersey is gonna lose atco soon. God help these police then cuz street racing gonna be insane if you shut that track down.

@@hatch450sx3 the 1/4 mile in Houston called Houston Raceway Park (Royal Purple Raceway) is closing after the Nationals in April. Fn sad bc they always whine about street racing and the havoc it causes, then turn around and close the dragstrip to make room for MORE warehouses that will just go through lease after lease and prolly hardly be used. Pathetic.

Joel said something like, Jonathan was supposed to run the Grubworm's first 6.xx beside the mustang that night, to make the record setting pass even better but something came up and he couldn't make it out. That would have been awesome. Haltech World Cup is coming up tho and I think they all are fixing to put on a show... Hell even Cleet gonna be there with a fresh (untuned I'm sure) suspension under Leroy.

Mod motors have been for a while this isn’t new. John Mihovets ran 5.8sec in the 1/4 factory block and heads on a 4.6 mod motor 6 years ago. MMR’s promod runs a 5.2l Coyote quickest it’s been so far is 5.6sec 1/4 mile. GM is just way too over rated
