1905 Stockbridge shaper, running! 

Great to see and hear it working Doc :) Hope we get to see a video of it making chips.

Wonderful job, great to see an old shaper running again! Could you post another video with some explanation of the gear box drive mechanism you fashioned to replace the line shaft drive? That is a nice and tight looking conversion and would be something that would work for me.

shapers are so unique... lathes and mills are cool, but there's just something about shapers... they feel more primal. almost like you're working the metal by hand, perhaps because the motion is so much closer to what we would naturally do to work something by hand. Maybe that's why I feel a special sense of wonder watching them.
