A few years ago I found myself on a very long deep dive research project on different types of military and civilian whistles from 1900 to the 1940s, and wow is it ever fascinating! Turns out US Army senior officers, junior officers, and non-commissioned officers each had to carry a different type of ACME whistle based on their rank so their signals could be distinguished by the rank of the person blowing the signal. I carried a favorite whistle as a cop in the Air Force for many years, and every hiking pack I own has a dedicated whistle attached. Thank you for your videos!

Thank you for your RU-vid. Apparently, I just found a 1930s to 20s whistle in with some old fishing gear. And a 1928 hunting license. I know it would be dated but I would have liked If you mention the value of these. I'm surprised to see mine listed for around a $100. On ebay

Values fluctuate tremendously depending on so many factors. Scout tube whistles in general are fairly common but the collecting community is also diverse and can reach people who are not even interested in Scout memorabilia, just whistles or perhaps specifically tube whistles. I have found going on ebay and searching an item and then filtering by "sold" will give you the most up to date trending value and of course condition and original packaging will factor in significantly. Use some dish soap and hot water to clean it of anything unpleasant, if you want to polish it, stay away from caustics like Brasso...instead use a polishing wheel or a cotton rag and buff it out with some buffing compound OR just use some common toothpaste. cover it with toothpaste, let it sit for a few minutes and wipe/buff it out. A historical polishing technique was using rotten stone which can be found on amazon. They are great pieces and the heavier brass ones are louder than the SM and lighter Scout tube whistles.
