Thank you! You know your business. The things you discussed were the very questions I had. I'm now confident that I can fit my new barrel to my GI 45 auto.
So glad you put this up and have it here. I have read , I have watched videos, and studied but you have a way of explaining it without all the bs and making it make sense, and is easy to follow. Thanks
Mines tight and not hitting anything. The prob I have is being able to put the bushing and recoil spring plunger in. There's just not enough room for the 2. And when I manage to cram it in and barely get it go there's no room to close the bushing to lock it onto the plunger. I converted from gov to commander slide on my colt
Just to let you know Tacgunsngear, I understood you just fine, but I live in Tennessee! Can I have a link please to upload a picture of my CS .45 bull barrel link for advice on the final stage of fitting? Thanks, Dan🤠
I would like to give a bit of advice . First work on your presentation, have the parts you want to talk about in frame with you when you start. Work on your camera work. Keep the parts in frame when talking about them . Don't expect everyone to know what you know , explain the importance of what your showing and why it matters . Example: The barrel seat should fit with out any side to side movement . This fit will help improve the accuracy of your firearm. Speak clearly and as technically as you can . Use a script or outline so you stay on topic . With a little work your videos can improve. Good information for the most part but it was hard to watch .
Sounds like a heck of a nice guy but hard to follow, i.e., "Now you don't wanna have too much space between the barrel hood and the breech face, and the reason for that is, see the barrel has to jump up to lock, so you wanna measure...you can use a dial caliper but you don't wanna just measure the ejection port because there's a ridge or you can measure the ejection port and then add what you get with feeler gauges being flush, but either way you can determine the distance, some folks use a digital caliper, but the object is a good barrel lock without binding." I'm a machinist...I turned off the sound and could get it from watching otherwise he's like the old Southern farmer giving directions to a Yankee..."you'll come to a red mailbox and a left turn but don't take it just follow the road to the left as it goes right...can't miss it!"
Just got a GI spec Citadel 1911 in 9mm (Philippine manufacturer because that was all I can afford right now) and the barrel front to back is not too bad, but the side to side is as sloppy as you showed if not more. My caliper says it's about .007 to .008 clearance when I measure one, the zero and measure the other. When I order a barrel, should I assume a "drop in" barrel might not be any better, and a "semi-drop in" is what I am looking for so as to fit it like you show? Also, the bushing feels loose as well. Everything else with the gun seems to be better quality than the 1911 I had in the USMC.
It's been many years since I lived in the South, I used to speak fluent South Alabama, NW South Carolina and Central Tennessee but I have guess I am no longer fluent.
I have a problem with my first build. When i put the slide and the slide stop on it doesn't slide freely it will just stop. Then I have to shake the barrel and guide rod around to get it to move
I know it's been awhile since you posted this Colby, but did you ever get it to slide right? I'm building a 1911 and have the same issue. Just watching any video I can to try a fit this barrel correctly.
@@fetus9281 Thanks for the reply. I'll take some fine sandpaper to it and see if it helps. Still have plenty of barrel fitting vids to watch too. Have a good one.
I don't know a dang thing he is talking about !!!!! 00:40 Once you get which is pretty sim I think everybody understands the concept of the bull barrow or a...... the bushing.
