I love Kilgen organs and appreciate these video's. I wish the Kilgen at St. Francis Xavier College Church was still here and could be visited. One of the greatest organs we had in St. Louis second only to the Great Basilica Kilgen. I remember it well and miss it.

Bless those dear sisters of St. Joseph who taught me for 8 years of elementary school. They truly were "soul" sisters!

My favorite Kilgen is Sts Cyril and Methodius in Shiner, Texas. Unfortunately, it is rarely used due to an electric downstairs, and it lost it's true grandeur in the early 90's when wall to wall carpet was installed. It broke my heart. I played that organ for weddings in the eighties and also for all my grandparent's funeral Masses. To me, it is music from heaven.

I know of one like that. Almost forgotten about by everyone. A beautiful 36 rank Kilgen. Unused, and silent in the chambers. Sadly, the gorgeous console (one of the most comfortable to play on ever) is gone. It’s a shame that so many incredible instruments have gone quiet.

I used to pass through Shiner often on my way to Hallettsville to visit grandparents. I didn't know there was a pipe organ there. I might have to go check it out.

I'd LOVE to hear this organ in person,...rather than through my computer speakers! I love pipe organs,though I have never ever played one! I don't have an organ in my home at the moment,..and I don't have the space,or budget for even the smallest pipe organ,...therefore I am going the next best route,and choosing an Allen digital organ for the "pipe organ sound" I desire! I like Allen,and that is final!

Delightful instrument (not completely in tune!!!). I always wonder why very few serious pipe organs (in contrast to theater organs) use the tab-type stop selectors seen here. Tab stops make for the fastest on-the-fly registration changes. Possibly eschewed in "serious" instruments due to theater-organ association? Horst Buchholz? - a name familiar in movies some years ago, but I guess someone else.
