I'm a Canadian from Vancouver, but this song brings back such great memories from the summer of 88-89 when I worked and lived in Australia. A few years later, I had it played at my wedding back home up north in Cranbrook BC. Everyone said..."Love that! Who is it?" Great song, great band.
greg you speak a truth that brings back so many memories and creates a bond between us because we are 1. 1927 fans and 2. canadians and Australians that resonate with a natural connection that’s obvious from the experiences of so many of us Australians overseas and plain from the words you write.
When I was a teenager and lived on a farm in outback Australia, I had a crush on a boy named Andy. The singer in 1927 reminds me of him. I imagine he's singing to me personally. Now I'm in my early 60's and I still feel like I'm that teenager each time I hear their songs.
G'day Greg hello from Australia 🇦🇺 yes mate this is 1 of my favourite songs and a bloody hell of a good band.....I sea my baby she's a master piece of art she's my main squeeze we dance fast then slow I say nice ass we're in a dream cool as can be the master show yeah she's first class she makes my mind blast it blows. 🇦🇺🇨🇦
Hi I am from Papua New Guinea 🇵🇬 🇵🇬 ..my mom played this song back in 88..as kids from the 80s..we all can relate to this song..mom passed away in 05...I cry every time I hear this song 🎵 😭..RIP MOM....
They opened here in Brisbane for Roxette, Valentine's Day 2015 ... & hadn't lost it then👍🏻 Looking forward to 9 October to hear the gents again 🎙👍🏻 #Australialovesyou #1927 🇦🇺🎙♥️🎙🇦🇺
Whilst on the subject of deceased parents , the elderly lady in this video who started dancing to the band , was my mother ! Her theatrical name was Shirley Donald. She passed away in 2011 from lung cancer aged 94 years. She would DEFINITELY have approved of my posting this comment , and her performance in this video was very much as she was in real life. PS : I would like to thank everyone for their interest in my mother's appearance in this video and have just rediscovered another video in which she also had a role. This is titled " Eat Red Meat Old People's Band " , which is quite remarkable in that I did not even recognise her at first !
My father died last year of oesophageal cancer and this was played at his funeral accompanied with photos of our life as a a family. Such a beautiful soulful song. RIP Keith Barwick.
Sorry to hear of your loss. My father died from liver cancer in 2014 so I can relate. However, it's nice that your family chose such a beautiful, meaningful song as part of his sendoff - really great choice. :)
Erized Thank you for your message. I'm sorry for your loss.Cancer is so quick and mean. It makes you realise your mortality. I hope you and your family are doing okay after your Dads death. 🌹
NorthernUnion13 Thank you for your message. You must be a very nice person to send those thoughts to a person you haven’t met before on the internet. That is as sweet as it can get really 😊. It does get a bit easier for me. For my Mum who is still around and may live for another 20 or 30 years it’s a lot harder. Life stops though hey.
Estuve 7 años en busca de este temazo, no lo encontraba No conocia la banda ni el titulo de la cancion La tararee en google y despues de 100 intentos aparacio¡¡¡¡No lo puedo creer Gracias mil Google voice¡¡¡¡
I love Australia ,I spend there 10 years ,have ,great memories 80 -90 year .I'm 68 now and feel like my time past . That time I came back to Poland where I was born but I have Australia and Bondi Beach in my heart love this music ! memories coming back , Australia ! love ya for all thinks a can remember ! Marcel
1927 the quintessential iconic Australian rock group. Of all their greatest hits this was their signature song. One of the greatest love songs of all time. Brings back so many great memories of my childhood. The 80s the best era to grow up as a kid in Australia.
I immigrated to Australia in 90 at age 34....fell in love with their music (lived in Melbourne). This was one of my favorite bands. Never realized how much great music from Ozzie never gets to USA....this is such a beautiful song.
The US think us Aussie's are all backward yobbo bogans that live in grass huts, with no technology or electricity. This is our own music genre, Aussie Pub Rock & all our bands were so underated & never given a chance. Look at Cold Chisel... That's why they wrote the song You Got Nothing I Want & was aimed at America lol
It's all either based on Jamaiacan Music or White Music from The American South though. That or British AOR. That being said although not culturally authentic persay,Oub Rock wad h8gyly distinct and unique in how ot mixed and oricwssed these ideas. I can always tell that I'm listening to Australian Crawl and not Ultravox,Ijahman Levvy,or Lynyrd Skynyrd. I guess the same is true for some Canadian Media. The USA was unique for a British colonial settler state along with The Caribeans (Jamaica,Trinidadian Tobego for instance in that we very clearly so have our own unique cultural traditions. Australia's tend to be more patchwork (same with Canadas) much more directly but it doesn't same Aussie Bands bad by any means and it did have a unique style to it.
I'm Indonesian living in Canberra. Watched Noiseworks, The Script, Conrad Sewell, RHCP etc. Heard this song coincidentally on 106.3fm....LOVE IT!!! Bought their ticket for May 23 concert in Queanbeyan.....see you there guys...cheers
Still my favourite song after first hearing it as a 16-year old in 1988. That's more than 30 years. Great songs never get old and stay with you like a warm embrace whenever you need it.
Had a memory of my dad coming home (in 1988) and showing me this Album he just bought. And then we listened to the whole Album...I miss you my dad (RIP)
First time ever listening to both band and song, excellent! I am from the caribbean, and stumbled upon this video looking for a 1927 historical fact. Best mistake ever. Loved this!
Quite simply the most beautiful song ever written. Such a shame it's not famous all over the world. No clue how I found this amazing band here from Brazil, but I can't stop loving listening to them.
My Nana passed away today, 97 years of age , makes her born in 1927, so that immediately prompted me to listen to this amazing song !!!! 🎵 my mind asking if she is ok.... then a nana gets up and starts dancing in the video clip of this beautiful song ❤️ that's my sign , she is happy and will be dancing in heaven xxx
No clue how I found this amazing band here from Brazil, but I can't stop loving listening to them. One of the most underrated Ozzie bands. Great band!!
How did I miss this great group in the 1980s? I may be in the States but I knew all of 'Ice House', and his many albums by heart. The one treat is finding them now and its all new to me. I get to find a great band with great songs from the 80's and its all new music to me. 1927 Wow.

I first listened to this song when I was studying in Adelaide back in 2017. Fell in love instantly when it came on Cruise 1323. Now everytime I listen to this, it just takes me back to Adelaide and Australia in general. So many fond memories of that place 🥰
I had a huge giggle to find you on here and then put that song on and lost the plot. . Blubbering like an idiot. . Scotty you are (despite all your fucked up ways! ) beautiful. ..

Oohh boy did I have a giant 80s-sized teenage crush on the lead singer of 1927. Absolutely loved this band. So fortunate I was able to see them perform live at the Royal Easter Show one year....SWOOOON.
If I could paint I'd paint a portrait of you The sunlight in your eyes a masterpiece of truth And a single tear like a silent prayer That's shining so much brighter than a diamond ever dared If I could do anything at all, I'd do it for you If I could write I'd write a book for you A tale of hidden treasures with an I.O.U And a million words wouldn't say a thing That won't be said in three words Where love's the central theme If I could do anything at all, I'd do it for you Chorus Darling can't you see What you mean to me Anything that I can do I'll do it for you And darling don't you know Just how far I'd go Anything that I can do, I'd do it for you Sometimes I feel so second-rate Seems loving you was my greatest mistake I know I'm insecure And love don't keep score But I wish I could give you more If I could play I'd play up a storm for you A raging sea of passion that you never knew Every whispered sound would touch your heart And maybe for a moment I could be your favourite star If I could do anything at all If I could, I'd give you more If I could do anything at all…..I'd do it for you Chorus And darling can't you see You mean the world to me Anything that I can do I'll do it for you And darling don't you know Just how far I'd go Anything that I can do I'll do it, I'll do it for you I'll do it, do it for you
When I was a little kid, my sister was in her late teens and always had 80s music playing. I used to tell her it was horrible, that it hurts my ears. Now I'm 35, and this kinda music is all I listen to. Funnily enough, she says to me now what I said to her back then. Funny how our tastes change as we get older. Beautiful song, thanks for the upload.
hi chantelle.. ....i think my bands new song is JUST as good - i am the guitar player -plz give a thumbs up if you like it ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SAXCthbzLBI.html.
After 31 years I still love this song and video. It just hits me to the core. If you haven't experience loving somebody like this then you haven't live your life yet.
It's October 2019, and I'm rediscovering this song, which I used to listen to when I was so much younger than today. Many years have gone by, but the meaning of the song has remained the same. One of the best love songs.
tiffany kailis Hey i was 18 too when i first heard it. Now almost 30 years later this song still stirs up mixed emotions inside. People don't make songs like they used to
so was I, in 1988. My girlfriend at the time, this was our song and 30 years later I still think of her when I hear it. What happened to the last 30 years? My god, songs like this that were and remain so special only seem like yesterday
I adore 1927's music. I was 16 when this came out and I believed that this depth of love was out there waiting for me to make it real. I'm 45 and I've never felt this deeply for someone else. I guess now I never will. This song still brings out my inner 16 year old who had hope. Then the song finishes and I file that hope under "It was never meant for me".
Don't give up, it's not too late. I met my guy when he was about 60. Like you, I hadn't experienced depth of love as I had imagined until I met him and I only met him after a twenty year relationship was ending in divorce. I hadn't wanted the marriage to end and I wasn't looking. I still had hopes of salvaging the marriage even though proceedings had been initiated by my then other half. It was coincidence that I met someone new, our meeting was unforgettable and my heart's been with my guy in his 60's ever since. Good luck.
I remember when the lead singer went on Red Faces on Hey, Hey, Its Saturday as an unknown and sang Roxanne. He won and was asked by this band to be their lead singer almost the next day. Rest is history as they say...
+Marcus Would you believe I have been trying to find that Hey Hey clip for years on youtube?! Had anybody ever bothered to record it on VHS back in the day, to post it here all these years later??!
No clue how I found this amazing band here from Brazil, but I can't stop loving listening to them. I've always loved this song. It always brings a tear to my eyes.
Watching this video makes me time travel to simpler times where a lot of our grand parents were growing up in country Australia. Everyone knew one another; weekends were times for spending with family and neighbours; mothers raised children and sowed their own dresses while fathers worked hard, grew vegetables and raised chooks. Holidays like Christmas and Easter weren't commercial back then and had an extra layer of magic and respect. Ballroom dances with actual bands were common then too. It is here that some of our grand parents, then teenagers, might've awkwardly eyed one another in a different sense for the first time.
Never get tired of listening, 30 years on & amazing as ever. i was 18 when i first heard this song-fills my heart with warmth-1927 WERE AN AWESOME BAND!
I was Google this song by humming. I couldn't find the song on my first few attempts. I asked my colleagues. They don't know either. Then this morning, humming it once more for a Google search. There it is. Great song.
This is such a beautiful song. This was played at my dads funeral a few years back along with Wish you were here by Pink Floyd and Drive by The Cars. All 3 still bring a tear to my eye whenever I hear them
Quite simply the most beautiful song ever written. Such a shame it's not famous all over the world. So many great songs from this era....this was one of them. Thanks for posting :)

Australia really gave the world some of the most wonderful and soul stirring music. Men at work, Midnight oil, Split Enz, Crowded house(tho from New Zealand),1927 etc... And this song is pure poetry.
Quite simply the most beautiful song ever written. Such a shame it's not famous all over the world. Was my wedding song back in 2004... our first dance as husband and wife
Legendary song, legendary singer and legendary music video🤙🤙🤙🤙 This song stirs something in my soul that can't be explained, to say I love it is not enough😃

Oh man yeah eurogliders (ur an aussie obviously!) noiseworks i just finished..listeng too (take me back)..mondo rocks chemistry and cool world i loved..got the greatest hits in 1992....man i kept getting shuffled back and forth from britain to aus in the 80s and so i have sooo much nostalgia...they didnt know stuff like that over there..so when i came back i was like whooahh..but when i went back there they had the new wave...and aussies did too..all im trying to say is im so glad i had both worlds..there had to be a reason for that!

Always, brings me to tears of Joy ! Myself, and 4 other family members back when we were young pups, 19, 18, 18, 21 and 39. Took, a drive from Darwin to Adelaide to visit other family members. So, thats all we heard on replay was that whole album there for 3000kms and back 3000kms!! Suffice, to say that i have never forgotten the words nor the memories at age 51 today! THANK YOU 1927 for one of the BEST MEMORIE'S i have
