Nice rig. I knew it had to be ossipee NH when i saw the thumbnail. I have a camp up there and see the signs when you enter Ossipee about birthplace of the snowmobile.
Nice machine! Like the track design. I too used chain in a similar way for my tracks. Mine is a duel track machine. Haven't driven it in the snow yet though.
On the chance you hit a stump and it puts sideways force on track is there a chance of the 3/8 or 1/2 inch rod puncturing the tire? There used to be half track kits available for 8and 9N ford tractors could be utilized ?
I’ve never punctured a tire with the track but if they get side loaded too much I have had the tracks come off. This often happens when doing donuts and you come up against something hard- it can roll the track of the wheels.
I just stumbled on this video. The tracks that I made are pretty similar but I just cut a big square tube in half the long way then cut them into segments. check it out on my channel. nice work.
