Here's a late 1930's maybe a 1937. Badge dates up to 1940. Model 14x12 AJAX New Century Fidelity dual parallel snare by Boosey & Hawkes. Just finished restoring it. All original except for heads. Top is a Remo weatherking coated. I normally would put a Premier smooth white batter head on it but still amazing crispness in snare action, especially off the bottom. Played with a pair of 1970's Alex Duthart Pipe Band sticks.

Sorry for the tardy response. I have to go in the attic to find it and make sure that is the make the of the drum. I used to play in a pipe band as a drummer and retired due to MS. Can't play anymore, but I do still love watching them.

I might have one of these in my attic. My grandfathers pipe band used these, I believe.

I had no idea there were drums that old with dual snares. So why did no marching bands in my day not use them '79-'82? That said why are US schools not using them now? I have wondered why when everything went to high tension snares they opted to stay bottom snares only. I feel the US misses the mark on more than a few things...

Any info you could give me on yours would be greatly appreciated. I know that these may have been used as pipe band snares. I'm a pipe band drummer myself. These have got to be some of the earliest dual snare marching drums used in pipe bands. I know in the early early 40's Premiers were not dual. They were single bottoms. They didn't use the dual set up until well later in the 40's. If you have photgraphs or can take pics of the drum I would greatly appreciate any additional info.
